We have continued going to New Line since my original review and I'm happy to report that they've continued to offer quality food for a reasonable price unlike some other local spots that have exponentially increased their prices since the pandemic. Also, we've gotten to know some of the folks who work there and think the world of Ryann and Mario who are so welcoming to regulars and newbies. It's a great hidden gem!

After a long day of working this place was close to my hotel and not ridiculously crowded. Bartender was attentive and detailed, burger was absolutely. Not much else on the menu sparked interest, there really wasn't anything unique that stood out. The volume of the music and tv was really difficult to any type of conversation.

Cool tavern not very far from Union Station so it's convenient to get to for commuters. It has the usual stuff like lots of good drinks, and the food isn't bad either. New Line Tavern is a classy looking place but it's real chill actually so just come and relax. Has a few TVs at the bar. The prices are okay considering the other restaurants close to here charge even more for similar kinds of stuff. I came in with the girl a little while ago. It was at night and it wasn't quite as busy. There were a couple people at the bar watching games but otherwise it was pretty quiet. Lots of good drinks. We tried a few and would have gotten more if these weren't expensive. I had an Old Fashioned Chicago. It's $11 for most of the cocktails. This one is made with Evan Williams mixed with angostura bitters, cherry bitters, Demerara syrup, luxardo cherries, orange bitters, and orange peel. It sure has a lot of bitters! These bitters didn't make the drink bitter though. Because we had eaten fairly recently and weren't that hungry we got some of the lighter fare. We got the House Made Pretzels. It's about $9.50 for two big ones that are enough for a couple diners. These come with beer cheese, but if you want non dairy, they make a very good house mustard. Good place to hang out and have some drunken fun. It also has trivia nights. The prices are good compared to the nearby rip off restaurants.

Stopped by with a group of about 10 over lunch on a Tuesday. The service was quick and everyone enjoyed their food. I ordered the southwest chicken salad with regular ranch.

READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE POSTING ANY REAL CRITICISM AND PROOF WITH A PHOTO BEFORE HAVING "A MANAGER" aka the employee you were speaking of respond to your post with a horrible attempt at trying to save face. It is really a tragic day when you not only do not receive an apology for gross unprofessionalism and down right prejudice, but to watch as the failure themselves attempts to have the gall to try to make the excuse THEY DID NOT SEE A HISTORY OF A DRIVER WHEN THERE IS A SCREEN SHOT ATTACHMENT OF THE ORDER IN THE POST, is just horrendously embarrassing. Perhaps that is why the order was 20 minutes late while in an empty bar. The bartender/manager/ buddy of guy making pathetic excuse for a response was too busy toting his ego around to bother to read a tablet or do his job. Not only was his behavior indefensible it is clearly recognized with this establishment stands for its despicable staff and will surely run into the ground for it . Love the other reviews of rude staff to customers, subpar food, and blah ambiance it totally fits and bow is trickling into the business partners such as drivers like me as well. Great going. Don't change, stay on this path, its really working well for New Line with all the new awesome restaurants opening left and right !

My friends and I walked into this establishment, the host asked "what do you guys want?" And it was interesting ti be greeted that way. We sit at the bar and my friend asked what soups were available, the bartender, who seemed to be the only person on staff, waiting on tables as well as bartending, said "hey speak up, this isn't a library guys." The manager was clearly on drugs when we expressed how unhappy we were. Did not seem concerned as well as was was acting sporadic and high. Horrible. Waited for 10 minutes for a drink, never got one.

I have never even thought about leaving a bad review until now. For context, my bar for "good service" involves saying hello and asking me what I want, and the bartender here couldn't even achieve that. A friend and I walked in and sat for an easy five minutes while the bartender walked back and forth without even acknowledging us despite there only being four other people at the bar, all of whom already had drinks. After we managed to flag down a *different* employee we got our drinks and then weren't acknowledged again until we waved down someone to pay. I don't mind unfriendly service, but there's no reason to have to chase someone down to get served. Cocktail was decent but not worth the hassle.

New Line Tavern is the only "real" neighborhood bar in the near near West Loop that treats their regulars like a neighborhood bar. Prices are reasonable, service is great. Ryann behind the bar has great energy and is always great to regs or newcomers. Today she recommended a newer item on the menu - steak nachos- and I have to say these were the most authentic and tasty nachos you can get here downtown in Chicago!
