Nello's Pizza Mesa

How long have I been eating here? Oops, ran out of body parts appropriate for counting. How long ago was 1989?We stopped in again, May 1, 2024, reminding me why we keep stopping here to eat. Giant ice tea, super fresh, generous salad. Mom's House Italian dressing, no splinters of course. Pizza. Oh yes, Nello's Pizza. Used to eat regular crust, now choose thin crust. Always get a pepperoni, now adding pineapple, olive, mushroom. It's all Chicago and Phoenix inside with a warm, friendly bar. I did not catch our server's name. My bladder dominates my life like health dominates many conversations. I was occupied when Set Up was going on. I was always too serious for lovely-smiling friendly women like our server. As I say, "A lovely smile makes my heart rich." I am a wealthy man today.The diamond cut slices let's me be petite in my pizza inhalation, plus leaves more crunchy edge pieces for all. I brought a guest here once. They complained it wasn't Really Chicago pizza. They weren't Really from Chicago at all. What did they know? They did love the salad.Are my 85 ABC's in yet Dear?Over and Awayyyyyyyyyhh.

I ordered a medium pineapple and jalapeño pizza to go. The lady on the phone was sweet, but had a difficult time hearing my order. I had to repeat it 3 times.When I got to Nello's to pick up my pizza I understood why she couldn't hear me on the phone. It is so loud in the restaurant! The inside is your standard pizza shop. As I was waiting for my pizza, I noticed in the kitchen nobody was wearing gloves when preparing the pizzas! One lady touched her face then continued to make a pizza. A gentleman lifted his hat, scratched his head, then continued to prepare a pizza! If this was hand tossed pizza, it would make sense they wouldn't wear gloves. But when adding the toppings? They need gloves.

I have been going here for as long as I can remember! Its been a while since having some Pizza here, but never disappointed! Their salad dressing is so delicious and their deep dish is the best in the business!

We had an event in the small room. We were using Zoom for a hybrid meeting and that's where we ran into problems. There is no door and the kitchen is right outside so lots of noise. And there is only one electrical outlet which meant we couldn't set up all the equipment needed. We made do, but it lessened the experience for those online. We also didn't set the room up correctly for our needs. There are really too many tables and chairs in the room for moving around. We only had 12 people and we were cramped. It probably works fine for a kids party, but not for a meeting. The food and beverages were great. Huge salads (love their house dressing), great pizzas. Nice beverages. Wish the room was larger, had extension cords and less furniture! Our server was great, but over-extended. It took forever to get our bill paid. But will come back for the food.

Amazing, kid, friendly, Pizza! Great flavor with lots of topping! Staff were very attentive and friendly! Will definitely be back when we are in the area!

My husband and I have been going here for years, it's changed so much. They no longer have the wings that we would drive all the way across town for. HUGE disappointment. We haven't been in over a year so we decided to hop in on a Friday. To our surprise it was pretty slow in there. I understood as soon as we got our food. The pizza was lukewarm, no sauce at all and the crust/dough wasn't cooked. We spent 80$ on food to walk out hungry. I miss the old Nellos. The ambiance is what we go for and the tap beers, that's about all that is the same. Hopefully some honest reviews like this will get them motivated to get a better kitchen staff and live up to what Nellos "used" to be. The server was awesome. I didn't catch his name but he's worked there for 4 years. He was very attentive and kind. Great staff, beer and crappy pizza.

Nello's is a must go for ourstanding pizzas!!! Like I literally meant it for approxiamtely 158%!!! Yum!!! I ordered a to-go for a tiny size pizza with pinapple and pepperoni on it! (I know...but I've always only eaten Hawaiian style so bear with me LOL) And to my surprise their pizza came out so filling and thick with a well breaded bottom layer! I really don't get pizzas when they came out thin to be honest. And this type totally served me beyond expectations! Loved how cheesy it was as well and one bonus for a tiny guy like me to be able to finally finish a meal that's to my portion and not having to waste any food. Also more economical as well! Because I ordered it to-go, I didn't really get a chance to be seated inside for the service and environment experience. But it certainly looks very clean and they have friendly staffs there. Comparing it to other pizza places, it's undoubtfully a 5 stars for me and I would definitely come back again for more! (Also, I always support local businesses and hence another extra star from me!)这家披萨店是城里能吃到的很不错的一家了！首先他们有专属于为小胃口人士准备的超小型披萨，也就是照片里我吃的那一款。如果你饭量不是很大吃不了太多的话，完全可以和我一样点这一个规格。其次，披萨的面底做的很厚很有嚼劲。我超级不喜欢像煎饼那种薄薄的披萨，吃起来很不带感。我很喜欢披萨加菠萝，可能是亚洲人的口味吧。他们做的菠萝披萨真的很好吃。我点的时候热乎乎的很新鲜，真的很好吃。在披萨里面算是上乘的了。如果你有时间开车来一趟，一定不要错过这个披萨店，里面也有很正规的座位给你坐着吃的，比其他那些垃圾连锁披萨店好的不是一点两点！一定要来试试！

Very nice pizza place. I'm a deep dish kindof girl but Nello'svdeep dish crust is a little bready for me (not chewy or very pizza-like at all). I think I prefer the regular thin crust. All the pizza we have tried is still very good.One of the things that keep us coming back are the salads. It's great to find a pizza place that doesn't neglect the other menu items and if I'm in the mood for something lighter we can come here.

We stopped here for a few drinks and a light snack after a nice morning hike. I went with an always favorite Kiltlifter and my gf had the special Papago Blueberry. The beer did not disappoint.The bar tender was pretty on top of all the customers there. It didn't seem like anyone had to wait for anything. The caprese plate was plenty for our snack. The cheese and basil and tomato was fresh and the basil leaves smelled great. The bar area was pretty busy and you could tell there was a handful of regulars there. I love the knotty pine look of the bar and dining area to give it that old country look and feel.

This place is amazing. Their food and service has been consistently excellent for decades. I always get a mini or small original deep dish for myself. Never had anything but excellent pies over many years. My wife gets the thin crust sometimes and that is excellent too. I hope they keep it going for another 35+ years.
