Laura P. "Cute coffee shop and nice staff, everything on the menu seems to be very modern like the avocado toast and the corn quinoa salad.I had the breakfast poutine and a honey oat latte, I really did like the latte, but the breakfast poutine was too filling I couldn't finish it, it was full of cheese and potato.I also tried one of the powdered sugar beignet that my friend ordered, and it tasted just like a beer as if it was a pastry. Very interesting since I have never had beignet before."

Doug G. "Ah, Cocorico, how you have become a favorite hidden gem in the middle of Midtown! Cocorico is a small French bakery offering up delicious pastries, croissants, sandwiches, snacks and of course, coffee. Located directly across from the Division Street Loop and the famous Musica statue, Cocorico is a quaint, bright and welcoming spot to grab a cup of coffee and relax, or pick up a pastry and hit the streets of midtown. Service was phenomenal. The staff was friendly and helpful from entry to exit. What was even better than the service? The chocolate croissant. Flaky yet fluffy with just the right amount of chocolate throughout. While the chocolate croissant was all for me, I did get my partner the almond croissant, and it received rave reviews as well! Due to the location, parking may seem daunting, but don't fret as they have you covered up to 90 minutes in the attached garage! Overall, super great find in Midtown! Happy to have ventured in and even happier knowing I can come back!"

Alexis B. "I stopped by Panini Bread Cafe for a sandwich today since I hadn't packed a lunch for work. Their menu is simple - mostly, you guessed it, panini. I got the tuna melt and a side pasta salad from the fridge. The tuna melt was average - not the worst I've ever had but certainly on the drier side and not very memorable. The pasta salad was okay - not super fresh, because some of the rotini pasta had dried out at the ends. The service was fine; I wouldn't say anyone was particularly friendly, but they were fast! This wasn't a meal I'm craving to repeat anytime soon, but I work very close to the cafe, so I'm sure I'll be back sometime soon when I forget to bring a lunch to work!"

Though it's pricier than most cafes/coffee shops around, the quality of food is so much fresher and better than most. The couple who owns it have been very welcoming. SideKicks Cafe

Doug G. "Hidden Gem...is the absolute perfect descriptor for SideKicks Cafe! Located just a block off of busy Due West, hidden in plain sight, sits SideKicks Cafe on Graycroft Avenue. It is the type of place that is uniquely local and that seems like it has been around for years, even generations...however they only opened in 2016, but in these 7 years they have made a name for themselves in the Madison community and have built a solid following of loyal patrons! I have only been on this end of town for about 4 months and thanks to Yelp, I ended up here one Saturday morning and immediately knew I had found my spot for all things breakfast, coffee and pastry! The set up of SideKicks is you walk in where you can scope the printed menu and the wall menu, and peep the goods in the case, and once you have landed on something you order and then seat yourself. They give you a buzzer and in just a few moments you will go from hungry to happy. My first visit in I decided to have the Biscuits and Gravy with a side of Hashbrown Casserole and a sweet tea. I consider myself a biscuit and gravy connoisseur, especially being from GA where I practically had them every morning. With that being said, SideKicks does not play when it comes to this dish! This was easily the largest plate of BG I have ever been served and it was topped with massive chunks of sausage and heaps of white pepper gravy. To break that down a little further it was comprised of two full fluffy biscuits split open, easily 2 cups of gravy and at least 4 broken up sausage patties. It was massive in appearance and in taste...they had me hooked from first bite! The hash browns were delightful and apparently award winning, which makes total sense. Once I wrapped my meal, I was tasked with bringing the partner something home so I ordered another round of hashbrown casserole and the Pine-Gouda Ham Biscuit, which is a ham and Gouda biscuit with a nice pineapple jam. While pineapple jam isn't my thing, my partner absolutely loved it and has told everyone who will listen about it since that morning! And lastly, for my ride home I ended up getting an Iced Mocha Shake-Up...and as you would expect, delicious! Overall, absolutely love SideKicks Cafe! The staff were beyond nice, welcoming and friendly. Combine this with the delicious food and the covered patio, and you got a winning spot!"

Hart P. "A favorite cafe of mine. The kitchen outperforms, preparing outstanding flavors with superb presentation.Previously, the location was a sandwich shop and a local meat and 3. Not the location you expect fine dining. It is totally different now. When they first opened everyone was packed in the lobby waiting for a table. No reservations, just a wait list, since then, they take your cell number and you wait in your car/outside until called. Wait time estimates are pretty accurate. Casual seating at tables and booths, you can share appetizers and then enjoy your main course. I like them all. (I miss the caprise salad)Dishes do change seasonally with the growing season but the proteins hold pretty steady.Totally worth it.Navigate the parking lot carefully."

My latest visit had me enjoying their awesome patio, fully equipped with large fans to help cool you down in the summer heat. I ordered a cold brew and a massive breakfast burrito. The burrito was delicious and loaded with bacon, eggs, and a chipotle cream sauce. The cold brew was on point. No bitterness, just all flavor. A good cold brew needs no milk or sweetener in my opinion. The loading dock has two interior places to hang out with one in a shared business area. This shop also also sells local art here as well, so if you're looking for something funky for your home this is place!"

You can dine inside at one of the many tables, grab a seat around the fire pit out front or along the sidewalk on one of the benches. Great place to chill out, catch up with friends, grab a coffee and go or have a light lunch/snack. I love the fact that it's not very noisy and no music blasting. You can actually have a conversation while you have coffee or eat. Excellent and friendly service. The employee helped us make our selections at the counter. The menu fare is limited to sandwiches, muffins and crepes. We had the grilled cheese sandwich, chips, fries (potatoes) with a honey and miel caffe latte and a cappuccino. The coffees were freshly made and was excellent. The sandwiches were served hot and very good. I am excited to have another neighborhood coffee option close by and will definitely visit again."

Bob B. "This is a great space and place for food. Love their mission. When you step inside you'll notice the great ambiance and love the photographs. This was our first visit and the place was slammed with lunch goers-parking can be a bit of a challenge but we found a spot behind the building next to the access road.My lady is gluten free so we're always questing for good eats that fit her needs-Thistle Farms answered that call and more. We both ordered the Turkey sandwich, I got chips, she paired it with soup-which she loved. I need to say, this was one of the best turkey sandwiches I've ever had-and I've had so many of them. The meat was moist, the bread right, the toppings added layers of flavor that made me sad when the last bite was taken. The homemade bread and butter pickles were a great highlight, just enough seasoning and flavor-not over powering. After lunch we stopped by the gift shop, we picked up a book and I purchased a wallet (card holder) made from some folks who are pursuing better futures. They have some great gifts for all-you'll want to check those out. Before you leave be sure to read the stories and see all the pictures that line the hallway-you'll be inspired, be glad you stopped in and also realize that Love Heals."

These donuts are on another level! Most are priced around $4.75, which might seem steep, but trust me, the quality more than makes up for it. Whether you're into the cakey or the fluffy varieties, they've got you covered. We picked up the s'mores, banana puddin', Boston cream, and the cinnamon roll, and every single one was a flavor explosion. They also offer coffee and savory treats, which I can't wait to try on my next visit.Plus, there are a few parking spaces right in front, and the staff couldn't have been more enthusiastic and helpful. Doug G. "Daily Grind is a small local coffee shop that sits in a shared space/building on Dickerson Pike just about a half a mile from the Old Hickory intersection. The shared space consists of Daily Grind, a financial company and a bail bondsman. While that sounds like an odd combination, which it is, they make it work. Upon entry, Daily Grind is set up to the left and features all the classics you would expect along with limited pastries and snacks. There are a few seats near the counter and also a large community table on the other side of the space, which is free use for those seeking coffee or financial services...or both. We had driven by this spot countless times and decided to pop in one Saturday morning. My pal got a standard iced latte and I opted for one of the spring specials, Brown Sugar Iced Latte. They did offer your milk alternatives and a few other options if you wanted to change things up. Both drinks were solid, not great, but good and fairly priced. Our visit was around 11:00 AM and sadly they had already ran out of all muffins, leaving their case filled with donuts and a kolache. We opted out of a snack and just took our drinks for the road. Service was solid. The gentleman was friendly, not very engaging, but he connected with us enough to know what we wanted and to make it happen. Overall, decent little local coffee shop that I would have no issues swinging back through!"

Food is food :) To the meat eaters out there, go into these places with an open mind, I guarantee you will enjoy it. A good diet consists of "mostly plants" as I heard a doctor say once before. We as Americans eat too much meat I believe. Meat used to be a treat and a special thing. Saying that, yes I am a meat eater, and yes I probably eat too much meat. Now on to the review: I usually opt for their "you pick two" (Not sure if that's what it's called) but I get the soup option and a side. I don't get to eat out as often as I want but each time I have come here, it's always delicious and served with love."
