My Mother's Restaurant

An old restaurant that is still in business in Phoenix, AZ. Now that says something right there. Great service, great food, clean (super clean) restrooms, great menu choices. Pricing is anywhere from $12.00 - $18.00 for lunch.I get the all-you-can-eat salad bar and iced tea; for around $15.All the food here is great --- pies are to die for delicious. As are their bread selections to go -- whoop whoop!

Excellent! Excellent!! EXCELLENT!!!I realize prime rib is a bit of a blind item. Restaurants can -- and do -- charge $20-$45 or more for a very similar cut of beef. What's the difference? Answer: everything and nothing. And if you get side dishes, they do matter. I realize too the outside of the restaurant might matter, though you can't actually taste the restaurant's outside. But for a big hunk of prime rib for less than others: less than Bobbie Q's, less than Arrogant Butcher, this is a very good deal. Very tasty, too. My last order was perfect. Huge, medium rare looking more like rare, delicious!Taking my order "to go" means the atmosphere is negligible. It's old school. I barely noticed the salad bar; I'll have to come back to check it out. "To go" was delicious. *Au jus: standard very good;* Creamed horseradish: very good; Asked for extra, got it. Included, as promised. Thank you. Tiny little fingerling potatoes were a delicious change of pace. Absolutely delicious. Cooked perfectly. Ample portion, too. Bun was good...sweet. While waiting, I looked at the menu: they serve fresh turkey and pizza and spaghetti. I'll be back. Can't wait. I did eat a turkey sandwich: outstanding. If I've got a main theme on Yelp, it's the owner-operator is the best scenario for customers these days. Someone there is paying attention. And this is it!Also worth mentioning is their superior packaging and attention to detail. Fabulous!!I'll post a new review for additional items I eat, but don't wait. Go here. Closed Sundays. I wanted to love this placed based off the homemade feel of all the dishes and the restaurant but everything except the fresh bread fell short. The prices are kinda steep and the food was cafeteria tasting. I got the meatloaf and mash potatoes and the mash was good but the meatloaf could use some more binding to keep it from crumbling. The salad bar vegetables could have been cut up better for ease of eating. I did try a slice of apple pie and that was tasty but this place won't stick in my mind for the future

I got the pot roast with double mashed potatoes. The pot roast was very tender and juicy. The potatoes were really good as well. My friend got the prime rib and it was medium rare. She loved it. To me was to pink. But I'd go back for sure.

Fantastic food. My favorite is Turkey and dressing and mashed potatoes. And coconut cream pie for desert. Yummy

I flipping love this place. It is named 100% correctly. I feel like some old grandma is in the kitchen throwing down. It feels like grandma put her foot all up in the food. Compliment, grandma you put your foot in it girl. Is that your toe jam I taste (smile). I love the green beans. Their Turkey dinner is amazing & I have also had the sea bass dinner excellent. They also have a salad bar which I miss at restaurants. Homie setting and customer service is always good. Coconut cream pie, grandma put food crack in it I'm so addicted. Fluffy grandma approved.

My Mother's got shut down. by a roof leak in 2022. We missed it. They put out an excellent grilled burger, bake tje honey wheat mini-loaves srriving on-table with every meal with plain and honey butter. Five loaves of regiuar sized bread are also baked each day. The price will not stop your heart.The pies! The pies!Every day brings a fresh batch of fruit and cream pies. One slice is 1/4 of 1 pie. I like mine with coffee. One slice feeds up to five of our family members.We were so glad when Mother's reopened Mid-Feb 2023, we've been catching up on our missed visits.As Jjlian says, "See you tomorrow."

I go there once a week to get the BEST fresh carved turkey dinner with mashed potatoes

My family brought takeout home for me tonight and I just had to leave a review. I have rarely seen a restaurant take such care in packaging their food. This turkey dinner came Seran wrapped, with dividers to ensure nothing arrived soggy. My corn was even pre-buttered! If that's not enough to sell you--it was also absolutely delicious. I cannot recommend My Mother's enough (and as you can see, my dog feels the same!)

I love a salad bar and fresh bread, My Mother's is consistent with these options. I left the table to use the restroom mid meal. The ladies room was pretty bad, wait, no, it was the worst restaurant bathroom ever. Poop walked on into the floor, no soap, no toilet paper and no seat covers. I immediately lost my appetite and could not finish my meal. I complained to server who ignored restroom. I left my table and complained again at cash register. No apology, I ate only half my salad and did not touch my enter...still charged! A staple of mine for decades...never more.
