Mr T's Family Cafe

Today's breakfast was cold, a little warm on the ham & gravy a little warm. It's good food, smaller portions this morning. Just didn't meet the normal this morning.

I pulled up and the building looks like a dive. One car. Industrial area. I had to look at Yelp again. Yep... it's the place. I walk in and was greeted immediately by a young man. Super nice. Told me to sit anywhere. Brought me an ice water and asked if I had been before. I was told the special as well as menu favorites. I opted for Mike's Loaded Hashbrowns. Two layers of hashbrowns with bacon, sausage, onion, jalapeños and cheese, topped with country sausage gravy and two eggs. For bread choice I had to try their homemade biscuit. This thing is a monster.Loaded is an understatement. This plate was chock full of goodness.I tasted the biscuit without butter. So warm, fresh, soft and delicious!How on earth is this place not packed???If you want great service and huge delicious breakfast...they serve lunch as well... get in to Mr. T's!

Whoa, these platters go for days! We visited Mr. T's for the first after years of passing by on I-5. We were enjoying some nature in the area and decided to go all in on a big home style breakfast. You check in at a window outside (probably because there isn't much waiting space once you enter), and then come in to be seated. Staff is super friendly, and has a laid back vibe, but are on it for service. Spouse notice a fresh OJ press, so that was first up with coffee. Delish OJ and surprisingly okay coffee (which I never have hope for in this type of breakfast place). Against my better judgment, I ordered with my eyes and had to go in for their gut-buster "Classic", Mike's Loaded Hash Browns, which is basically all of your savory breakfast faves on one plate. Potato, cheese, mushrooms, egg, bacon, sausage and gravy (with a biscuit on the side). As you will see in others photos, the biscuit is noggin size. I ate maybe an eighth of the food on my plate because I was filled up super fast and it is really a breakfast you can share and not finish. The flavors are what you would expect of a solid old-school breakfast joint. Ambiance is pretty nil here, folding tables, some signs with silly sayings, metal blinds. But you aren't coming to Mr.T's for frills, you are coming for giant biscuits!

The best breakfast in Skagit! Imagine fluffy egg omelet, massive sides of crispy hasbrowns, biscuits or whatever your heart desires.I have to confess, ridiculously large pancakes always steal my heart. I even ordered extras to take home.My picky kids loved the chicken sandwich and kids tenders. Fries was beautifully spiced! Really "at home" feel. Our server David was 10/10! Highly recommended this place!

Good food, huge portions. The service was good. We liked this place, not fancy but good food.

Ok... so look, we had the chicken fried steak breakfast, and I have to explain all of this experience. First, you check in at a window before you're seated, then they seat you. The coffee was great, even my husband who doesn't like coffee much liked it. The chicken fried steak was good, not amazing, gravy was yummy, sausage, maybe homemade which was cool. Hash browns were crispy, and well cooked, and the scrambled eggs were fluffy. The real gem here though was David our server, he was attentive, kind, and so cool with everyone in the cafe, he knew the regulars and made sure our coffee was full. In the end, food 4 stars, but David made it 5 stars. Great place for hangover morning food if you know what I mean.

One day last month in Mount Vernon, WA, I had a great breakfast. I am a simple man who likes a hearty meal to start the day off right. Often, I like a full plate of eggs, potatoes and bacon for breakfast. I learned to cook breakfast at an early age and think that it takes good timing to cook anything and a good breakfast is no different. I like cooking breakfast but I like it better when someone else makes it for me. When I order breakfast, in my opinion, there is nothing better than fresh potato hashbrowns with your breakfast. Many places use reconstituted shoestring potatoes as a quick and cheaper substitute for fresh hashbrowns but, not at Mr. T's. This is a mom and pop type place and fills up quick. You might even have a short wait on your hands. No worry. It will be worth it. If you have to wait, you could pick some blackberries next to the fence where you park your car.

This is a hidden gem!! Some of the best breakfast I've ever had! I had the " big breakfast" and man did it not disappoint. A HALF ORDER of biscuits and gravy that was giant, the crispiest most delicious hash browns, eggs and bacon. And my partner got steak and eggs and the steak was not chewey was cooked perfect and was seasoned great! If you have the chance to stop here you should! We will be back! The service was great , everyone was friendly and the food came out quick! It's a cute small little diner.

The service, portion size and price here are hard to beat. Everyone was super friendly and extremely fast. The food, however, seemed very bland to me. Perhaps it was an off day or something, but while there was certainly a LOT of food it was distinctly lacking in flavor. I wasn't particularly impressed with the restaurant space itself as reminded me a lot of a high school cafeteria during lunch time, but there's only so much you can really do with a small location like that.
