Mr. Stacks Melrose Park

I came here after being up earlier than I like for something that didn't happen (check my review of McGrath City Hyundai, then never go there).In stark contrast to my first stop, Mr Stacks was amazing. My server, Brittany (sp?), was AWESOME! As a frustrated and sleepy person her cheer and demeanor was so uplifting! She was quick to respond to my needs/silly requests, fun to talk with, and sent a general feel of happiness to the morning.I got the banana nut pancakes. They're huge! The were really good! Fluffy pancakes, fresh banana, crunchy nuts. If I could change one thing I would have had more whipped cream. I'm guessing if I'd asked I would have been able to get more whipped cream.And in this world where everything costs too much I was in and out for about $20 with tip. I ate about half of my order and will finish it either for supper or breakfast tomorrow. That's a good value for two meals and the pot of coffee that I drank.

This place has a lot of space and lots of options, it was my first time but the food quality of what I ordered was so good and I look forward to trying more. Coffee gets brought to you with a carafe so no pressure on finishing your coffee too quick What stands out the most is the atmosphere of this place!! It is so well lit and I think that it's so important that management is aware of how sweet and interactive this staff is! From the server who seated us, to servers walking past, and our very own server Romelia, everybody just has the best attitude and visibly works well together. Old school diner style, no standing around or on phones. You know what they say, a first impression is a lasting one. And my first impression of this place will cause me to return and recommend over and over again!

Service is ok. Food was off today. Hash browns were soggy instead of crispy. Toast was even odd. Pancakes were ok. Scrambler was decent. Coffee was off. I don't know. Maybe it was an off day but that's weird because they were even busy today like other days. Guess I'll try them once more to be sure it's just an off day.

If you're looking for a "American-style" breakfast with huge portions and familiar flavors, this is your place. They have some nice classics with a slight twist. The menu is huge and has something for everyone, expect the downside to this is it's so hard to choose. *Tip- If you're a visual person like me, go to their website, they have a picture of every dish. I was between a skillet and an omelette with the same ingredients and then I just went for the skillet.My bacon avocado skillet was yummy at first and then I got overwhelmed with the massive bacon ratio. I was pleased to see they didn't skimp on the avocado though. I wish my side of potato's were a little more seasoned, crisper, and came out warmer. The side of the pancakes I thought was the star of the show. If I had ordered pancakes, bacon, and eggs that would've been perfect.My boyfriend ordered the Corned Beef Hash and Eggs and he said it was good. He upgraded his pancake side to the S'mores and loved them. For me, they were too sweet but I'm glad he liked them.As for the service, they were friendly, however our drinks came out staggered and it took a while for the food to come out. The overall ambiance was normal Brunch cafe, family-scene (sort of like cuter iHop). There were 2 birthdays celebrated where the staff came out and sang happy birthday and brought out a cupcake with a candle. I could see the little kids light up when this happened- it was cute to watch.

What a great breakfast and lunch spot!Located at the corner of two busy streets, Mr. Stacks is conveniently located with lots of parking around the restaurant. We came around 10:45am on a Sunday and the place was relatively busy but nothing too crazy. We were sat immediately. The service was great! Jenny was our server and she was the BEST - so attentive, genuine, and personable. She knew the menu off the back of her hands. We adored her. You definitely get a lot of bang for your buck here. Average pricing was $15 per meal but it comes with a lot. I got the bacon avocado scrambler and subbed onions for mushrooms; you get a choice of a side and then get to pick pancakes or toast. Some of their side choices included diced potatoes, hash browns, fruit, grits, etc (I chose diced potatoes). My meal was absolutely delicious - the scrambler was flavorful, not dry at all, and fluffy. The diced potatoes and toast were super yummy, too. My sister got the very berry French toast which comes stuffed with cheesecake filling and berries. It was delicious. She got chocolate milk and I got this blended juice with oranges, strawberries, and banana. Everything was so tasty. I truly have nothing bad to say about Mr. Stacks. Great food and service - I'll totally be back to try their lunch items or just get breakfast again!

Great service ! Went early morning on Father's Day , party of 12 people. BRITNEY was our waitress!' She did an excellent job!! Fast pace and very polite. Loved her energy and how kind she was to each and every one of her customer !

2/17/24 : me and the wife came back. Disappointed again. I dont want any free food or coupons or anything. I'd just rather stay away. In fact I'm writing this review from my booth because I have left yet. This time my wife ordered country fried steak without gravy because she doesn't eat pork. It came with gravy. No big deal, we smiled and they said they'll fix it. No biggie. They brought the country fried steak back, flipped over and the gravy scrapped off. My wife didn't want to make any further problems so she just took the breading off and ate the steak. I won't be back here. The lack of respect and communication is too much. The operations team is wonderful but the cook and/or the waitress who tried to deceive us were not professional. If my wife had an allergy something in the gravy she would have gotten sick or went into anaphylactic shock. Please be respectful and just prepare another order.

First time here and would definitely recommend if it wasn't too busy! It reminded me a lot with Denny's or IHOP but a lot more options. I ended up getting the Parisian Eggs Benedict while my partner got the corned hash and egg combo. Each meal could easily serve two people. Food was fresh and good. Service was kind of slow but it was pretty packed on a Saturday early afternoon. We waited about 15 minutes before being seated and maybe 10-15 minutes for our food to come in. Our server was very professional and checked up on us regularly despite being busy.Def recommend to go on a weekday when it's not as packed. However, if you're in a rush, you can easily make breakfast at home too.

Brittany was amazing. she provided us with the best service that we have ever received. she was really sweet and accommodated us very well and made us feel very welcomed!

My family and I come to stacks at least twice a year and it always tend to be 20 of us. Brittany the server has always taken care of us. We always look forwards to see her face when we go, She is a hard worker and makes sure everyone is well fed. She always takes a big group photo of us before we leave. Thank you Brittany for your hard work and we will see you next time. P.s. The food is always delicious and full filling.
