Mount&Bao

Great family-owned place in an inconspicuous location putting out some wonderful traditional Chinese dishes! It was pretty quiet and our group of 8 was seated immediately. We had a reservation, which was also super easy to set up. Everything was fresh and flavorful and the chongqing chicken wasn't too oily like I've had at other places!

Was in the mood for soup dumplings one day and decided to try this place out from the publicity it was getting on IG. It's a pretty small restaurant and didn't seem like they were really prepped to have people dining in yet. But we got a table and it did not look like it was wiped clean yet. It was clean enough to sit though and took a look at their menu. We weren't sure if we were suppose to order from their online menu or wait for the server to come to us. We ended up waving the service over to take our order. We ended up getting quite a bit and it did end up being too much that we took the rest home. We got some dan dan noodles, soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, dumplings in hot oil, and some cucumber in hot oil to balance things out. We were pretty disappointed with the soup dumplings and the dumplings in hot oil. The dan dan noodles were good texture-wise, but it lacked any flavor. The hot chili oil condiment helped with that fortunately. Surprisingly the pan fried dumplings were juicier than the soup dumplings. They were the star for me at this place.There were a lot of to go orders coming from this place though that I noticed. They basically were discouraging people that came in to not place an order. Telling them it'll be a 40 minute wait. It's nice to see them get so much business, but it definitely doesn't look like they can meet the demand. If you're going to order from here, try ordering at odd hours instead of the usual lunch and dinner rush times. They'll be too book.I do like the fact that they have a guy making dumplings in the front so you can see they make it themselves and make it fresh. So that's good to know, just don't expect high quality stuff out of them. I think the soup dumpling wasn't steamed long enough either for me since it looked pretty pink still after I bit into one. But I'm still alive, so it's safe to eat still I guess lol.I'd come back for the pan-fried dumplings. Not the soup dumplings though, like, where was the soup?

I was so happy to see Mount&Bao emerge unscathed from the pandemic. This place is SO good. It's hard to pick what our favorite dish was, but we got a wide selection of items, including pan fried pork Xiao Long Bao, tofu salad, chive and pork dumplings, wontons in chili sauce, chive & egg pancakes, and the mushroom & Napa bao along with hot tea. I'd highly recommend the wontons, tofu salad, and pork Xiao Long Bao, but you can't go wrong.It was a one-man show at the restaurant, but the restaurant owner was so kind and the service was smooth, timely, and welcoming. It wasn't very busy, but I was very surprised to see him manage everything on his own, but he created a warm and friendly atmosphere and we can't wait to come back.Please try this place if you haven't already!

I think most people do takeout from here, because the interior and ambiance was fairly empty and lacking when I visited. The dumplings and bao are good, but you can get better on Eastside. For the accessibility and delivery nearby though, I'm glad there are places like this around.

My go to place for dumplings. Even tho it is a little far, I wouldn't mind commuting or driving just to get there. One thing I notice is the place is never that crowded but their online order keeps ringing and most people either order to go or delivery.

Service is really great here - a sweet lady was so kind to us as we had lunch on a very cold day. The food is amazing - way better than DTF or Dough Zone. We devoured the soup dumplings, bbq bao, scallion pancake, wontons in chili, pan fried chicken buns, jasmine tea. Everything was excellent! Highly recommend despite lack of ambiance, if you want good food, come here!

I've been here twice now and each time have left very satisfied! The service is quick (though I do always come around 2/3pm so it's not that busy) and the woman who serves us is very friendly. So far I've tried a few things:- Pan fried pork buns 5/5 - My girlfriend and I come here for these. They're packed with flavor, the bun dough is very soft and the bottom is always perfectly crispy. Haven't been to any other restaurants in the north Seattle area that have these yet. - Wuhan dry noodles 4/5 - great flavor and noodles are cooked well- Braised beef noodle 3.5/5 - the soup is very flavorful. My only complaint with this is it came a little too hot and I think that took away from the tenderness of the beef & overcooked the noodles a bit. - Chili oil wontons 3.5/5 - the wonton filling is delicious, the oil could be more flavorful and spicy but adding the vinegar & sauces at the table make it better- Pork XLB 3.5/5 - I have no complaints but my girlfriend thinks it lacks flavor & could be betterI will definitely be back to try more of their menu

I ordered from here via Uber Eats on a whim. And then I ordered from here again everyday, for the next 5 days. It was that good. On the 6th day I brought my foodie bestie to the restaurant and she loved it as much as I do! She'a an expert chef and world traveling food expert and she has since brought every member of her family here, one at a time. The food is something you have to experience! If you're a fan of Din Tai Fung, get the Xiao long Bao. You will not regret it! The Zhong Dumplings compliment those well with a little kick. The Steamed Barbecue Pork Buns are like lotus flower shaped clouds of dough filled with a perfectly balanced bbq pulled pork. And the Sesame Chewy Balls with Red Bean are my favorite sweet item. I randomly crave those all the time. The staff is always welcoming and so kind and the atmosphere is very "hole-in-the-wall", which I love. It makes it feel like I've found something really special. I really cannot express enough what a diamond-in-the-rough sort of thing this place feels like. It feels like my little secret pocket in a city filled incredible food and I honestly can't believe they don't have a line down the block of people waiting to eat there everyday. It has become my favorite place to tell out-of-towners to go if they truly want a taste of Seattle excellence.Attaching a pic of the door as it can be missed. Amazing food. Price is not bad. Server was great. Serving was quick. Parking is street parking. If you like for a hole in the wall type of place, I highly recommend it!

What a pleasant surprise!Found out about this gem from Nextdoor mention and it did not disappoint. Do not be deterred by the humble decor and RUN to this spot!! We were sat immediately by a sweet and attentive server and the food was shockingly good. Egg rolls are usually meh, but these were hot, perfectly crispy, and shockingly flavorful - the best we've ever had. We also ordered the wontons in chili sauce and pork and chive dumplings. All were exceptional, fresh, and packed with delicate but distinct flavors. You get a lot for your money and the value great. Definitely suggest this if you're craving a savory comfort meal.
