You know that feeling when you get tired of SUBWAY and Jersey Mike's and all the other chains that have sandwiches? Well that was me yesterday I could not look at another jersey Mike's sub, so I went to my small go to epic sandwich spot.Moto, deli! Plenty of parking, a staff that gets it great folks in the kitchen... And then the sandwich comes out! And you realize that this is not just a franchise, it's a real restaurant. I think the pictures speak for themselves, but if you are ever down in North County, this is a must visit.

Who doesn't love a killer Sammie?! If you are looking for the best around, then Moto Deli is a MUST! Located right off Highway 101 in Encinitas, it is in the perfect location to sit on the patio and grab lunch or scoop it up to-go and hit the beach. The team is always friendly, provides service with a smile and is there to share recommendations when everything sounds good and you just can't decide. It's a smaller menu but you will find something for everyone - Hot and cold Sammie's, Salads and Side Dishes. Start with a drink - Local Beers are always on tap along with a selection of Wine, Hard Kombucha as well as plenty of Non-Alcoholic drink options. Next up, order at the counter and you'll receive a buzzer to let you know when your meal is ready. I have way too many favorites on the menu so I'll give you my top recs: Egg Salad {a housemade Egg Salad with Gherkins, Lettuce and Tomato served on Squaw Bread} / Caprese {Mozzarella, Tomato, Fresh Basil, Arugula, Red Onion and Balsamic served on a French Roll} / The Italian - My absolute Favorite {Hard Salami, Genoa Salami, Capicola, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato and Onion on a French Roll}. You can opt for a side of Mac Salad, Curried Sweet Potato Salad or a Super Food Salad but the way to go is a simple Pickle Spear {or 2}! No matter what you decide on, your mouth will be watering and you will be craving these sandwiches for days on end. You will quickly become obsessed and thank me later!

Moto Deli is one of those unseeming places you might not realize is as good as it is from the street. We drove by two dozen times during 3 separate visits to Encinitas before realizing it was a sandwich joint and stopping in on the 25 time driving by. The building its in is wedged between a Caliber Collision and some other non-restaurant place, and we always saw tons of cyclists out front with their carbon fiber bikes and spandex kit on. Turns out it's because (a) their food is awesome road fuel for pedal-mashing type, and (b) there's a cycling shop next door that's friendly to moto deli. So anyways, yeah it's not that noticeable from the street but the vibes are strong with this one. Great food, generous portions, good value, tasty sammies, and great outdoor seating. Nothing could be better. Whether you're clip-clopping around in your cycling shoes wearing skin-tight lycra or wearing some boardshorts, this place is casual and unpretentious. Come and sandwich with us.

Every small town needs a great deli sandwich joint, and Moto Deli hits the spot. Lately I love Italians, which are always a classic, and that's what I got the most recent time and is pictured in my photo. Really fresh ingredients and bread, and it stays together - I don't appreciate soggy sandwiches (besides the exception, a French dip). This place is great for carry out or dine-in with their outdoor patio seating, and there's even a cute coffee place and bike shop that share the space. I got my sandwiches to go this weekend, and while the wait was a bit long (Saturday lunch rush), it was well worth the wait to fill my belly before heading to the beach for the day.

A nice little spot along the 101 serving a bunch of sandwiches. The Reuben was a great sandwich and the grilled cheese was top notch. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. Definitely busy during the weekend lunch hours!

Everything about this deli is so great. Service at the counter was thoughtful and polite and our order came out quickly. There are picnic tables outside with umbrellas and there are a couple of booths and a few bar seats inside. The sandwiches are DELICIOUS! I can't wait to go back and try more but we had the Chopped Cheese, the Turketta and the Banh Mi today and all 3 were so fresh and filling. The super food salad makes you feel alive! It is crunchy and tangy and sweet all at the same time. The macaroni salad is savory and addictive. When we told the cashier what a great experience we had, she was so gracious. I can't wait to work my way through the whole menu.

Amazing pastrami sandwich and house made chips! Stopped here with my daughter. Nice spot next to the 101 with outdoor seating and good music (not too loud, which I prefer) Good service too!

Was dying for a good tuna sandwich and Moto Deli delivered. Hit the spot - sooooo Ono - my tummy is sooo happy

I had such high hopes for this place and was so disappointed. If you have celiac do not go here!!! I can go almost anywhere and find something I can eat I do not expect businesses to cater to my allergies. With that said I won't ever go here again.When we went to order I asked if I could have the sandwich without the bread all the fixings were fine. I was told the chef doesn't do exceptions so I explained I'm not modifying his food I just can't have the bread I have celiac. She said it doesn't matter the chef doesn't like to modify but she would ask and I could tell she was so worried about asking. REALLY that is crazy So she came back out and said he would do it, like he's doing me a favor?? I should have known at that point to leave. We didn't. So we ordered two sandwich's and a side salad with two drinks. It's one person up front so the drinks took awhile...We were waiting and waiting for food.. People came in after us and got their food before us. I thought maybe they had called it in but it got to be ridiculous so I went in and asked, I was told if the buzzer we gave you isn't vibrating it isn't ready. OK then...Finally our food is ready and it was a joke. My husbands sandwich was packed with meat.. I was given a little bit of meat in a container with a tiny bit of onions and fixings in another container. It was PATHETIC! All because I asked for no bread. The kale salad was the best thing. My hobbies sandwich he said was pretty good as well. I won't ever go back. There are so many other options where they understand CELIAC isn't a choice and to punish me for having it by giving me a 3rd of the portion when I paid the same price is ridiculous.
