Monroe's Hot Chicken

Monroe's Hot Chicken was definitely a smash. I went with friends before going to a comedy show and we grabbed the regular fried chicken sandwich, some crispy tenders, and a salad (I know, I know, almost a cardinal sin at a hot friend chicken joint!). But we also ordered some collard greens and fried pickles. Took about 15 min to get our individual orders, you walk up and order at the counter, and they call your name/number up when it's ready. The crispness of the fried pickles was nice. It almost felt like they'd been air fried, they weren't overly greasy, but lightly breaded and crisped, which was nice. The collard greens had a zing to it, and we liked that flavor. Unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy the Mac and cheese (it's my fault) so can't speak to that but someone please try it and let me know how much they love it! And finally; the sandwiches... the person taking our order asked us if we'd been to Dave's Hot Chicken because their spice is hotter because it's a "wet" sauce. I had not, so that reference didn't help, but it did scare me enough to order the medium and not the hot (which I was originally going to do). Later realized the hot (my friend ordered hot and gave me a bite), it was goooood hot, and I should have stuck to my guns. The chicken salad came with greens, tomatoes, and I ordered ranch. Their ranch style I give it a 3/5, and I'm a particularly big fan of RUNNY ranch, and this one was easily a 6 out of 10 (10 being the most runny) on the spectrum. Good flavor, nice with the pickles. Containers were pretty small and they gave me two. The place was fairly empty when we arrived, maybe 2 guests, music was loud, felt fresh and cool in there, and there are tables along side the wall. Not a lot of room for big parties or groups but then again; I'm sure they'd be able to make some accommodations if you did come with a crowd. You have to go past the building and park in the back and in a garage and walk out. Not super hard to figure out but not as easily findable as I would like. Now that I know it's easy, it's fine.Overall pretty good, I'd like to come back but go to their central Phoenix location. This one is in Tempe and right off the freeway.

Never going to Monroe's again. I normally love the chicken and the fries but the food tasted like.. tuna... in the worst way today. I normally love Monroe's and have no idea what happened. My husband tried a bite and as also a Monroe's fan agreed! Literally threw it away :/ and I'm not a picky eater. He wasn't eating with me or we could compare our orders.. really hate submitting this. I've been a Monroe's fan since they opened in Phoenix.

Food was great but service suxs! Music is loud and obnoxious and the wait for the food seemed excessive 15 minutes? Would I return yes, but only if I remember the negatives noted above. Yelp on!

Pretty juicy fried chicken. Nothing over the top but a good spot for classic chicken sandwich and fries. Though not sure what really got me to want hot fried chicken randomly in AZ in the hot temp but glad my friend let me try since I have always wanted an excuse to try this chain out!

Monroe's Hot Chicken is located in Phoenix just a block away from CHASE Field and the Footprint Center. We stopped by before a Suns game and it worked out well since you are only a 5 minute walk away from the game. I have seen this location before but never actually stopped in to try it out.The menu obviously revolves around chicken and the options are tenders, popcorn, or sandwiches. The tenders come in a basket with fries and pickles (lots of fries!). We didn't get sandwiches but looking around you could see they are massive and likely no fries needed.They had a good range of hot flavors all the way from mild and southern up to "what the cluck" with Carolina reaper peppers. We went with mild (good for the kids and my father) and medium (definitely enough heat for us). The food was really good and the selection of stubborn sodas was a nice surprised to change things up from Coke and Pepsi. Overall, fair prices for downtown and very good flavors with the chicken. I would definitely stop by again before a game!

The freshest, juiciest, most flavorful hot chicken in the valley!!! This was the perfect reward for a challenging hike on a Sunday afternoon with friends. They also enjoyed the chicken and fries. The weather was perfect for sitting on the patio!We were a little disappointed it took over 25 minutes to receive our orders. We've never had that happen in all of the times we've been to both Monroe's locations.

Hot Hot Hot. It is no joke. It's very hot... brace yourself.. one of hottest things I've eaten.. but sooo good.. loved it all.. good staff.. the walls have pics of some famous people's mugshots. See how many you recognize..

I placed a takeout order for a chicken sandwich with the cornbread Mac n cheese and a drink, and some chicken tenders and fries. Most of the floor was very sticky. And most of the fountain drinks were unavailable. The tea and lemonade didn't put out anything so I tried to get one of their fountain sodas, i tried 4 and all of them sprayed out all over my hand instead so I can see why a lot of the floor is sticky. The cashier was unprofessional, I told her I had a takeout order and she answered a personal phone call in front of me instead and said, "hey girl what's up" and just started up a casual conversation with them. So I just asked another employee for my order and she gave it to me. The box containers, the mac n cheese container and the bag it came in had orange greasy prints all over it, my hands were greasy and gross before I even touched my food. I guess on the bright side at least the chicken was fully cooked, I tasted the heat but no flavor or salt other than that. The Mac n cheese had cold crumbled sweet corn bread on top, wasn't good either. The fries were crispy and good but I would not come back.

The best service ever, and food was delicious Daaaaa bombbbbb you have to try it !!!
