Always on the lookout for new-to-me breweries, I was pleasantly surprised to discover Monka (via Yelp, of course) on a recent visit to the northerly reaches of Seattle. Aka, Shoreline. This tiny little mid-centuryesque building looks like it used to be a bank (possibly), and features lots of parking and a bright interior, with a small-but-decent selection of tasty beers. Always excited to see a Brown Ale on tap, I grabbed a pint and was more than impressed with its rich, caramel maltiness. While this little spot doesn't have serve food, it's definitely a good stop for a cold one and I plan to go back and try some different brews next time I'm in the area.

Catching up on Yelp reviews. This is for a visit to Monka Brewery in Shoreline's North City neighborhood back on 8/2/18. I had spotted this after a few recent visits to the Safeway located diagonal from this spot. Turns out they had been open for awhile, the new signage just went up, according to the friendly counter person. This site also has a smaller scale brewing operation. I ended up buying a growler of their Pale Ale #1 (similar to Manny's Pale Ale flavor profile) for a family member - which was thoroughly enjoyed. I don't drink beer, but definitely all about supporting local indie neighborhood spots in the north end.

Awesome and smooth brown ale. I recommend this brewery and would definitely come back for brown ale and try others too.

Nice spot! It's off the road and you wouldn't immediately know it's a brewery and it's in an interesting building. I had the blonde which was a nice light beer. It was a really good stop. It's family owned and family friendly. Worth a stop if you're in the area!

I love discovering new breweries or breweries that I haven't been to yet to visit. Monka Brewery was one that I haven't been to until recently and also going here was my first time in Shoreline. The brewery looks to be housed in what once was a fast food or casual dining restaurant and going with that gives the brewery a real charm. The staff here is extremely approachable and friendly which added to our experience in being a hit here.Steve and I tried two of their beers here. We both got one a piece and really enjoyed the beer that we had here! The beers that we tried was the Hazy IPA and the Pale Ale # 2. Both of those beers were great and highly enjoyable! There is an Asian restaurant right next door with good food which you can bring in and enjoy while drinking your beer or wherever you want to order or bring in.I will definitely be back and I have an "internal" beer radar saying that another brewery will be opening in Shoreline in the near future so another trip is already sealed to come here when that outing occurs!!

Wow! That's honestly all I can say. The HaZy Coming in at 7.4 ABV IS AMAZING so smooth and refreshing not too Hopi with a beautiful color. The oatmeal stout was great a beautiful dark color, great malt taste, not too thick but didn't have a lot of coffee flavor which I loved most of them have a over bearing coffee taste. What threw it over the top was the great service. The lady there was the owner she was friendly and attentive. It's a hidden gem in the shoreline area.

Monka Brewery is an amazing family friendly place with great service and staff. They have games like foosball and they also have board games. I have not had beer, but my parents love it, they also have little snacks and drinks. They also have brought in some hats and new sweatshirts for cheap. I bought a hat last night and instantly loved it. So soft and perfect size.

The best beers, sour, and seltzers you'll ever taste! The vibe here is laid back and very friendly. There's a selection of board games to play as well, so bring your friends! On warm days the slushy machine comes out and they are delicious as well! Come experience it for yourself!!

Best Nano Brewery in Shoreline. HahaSeriously though, I'm a beer freak who covers a lot of ground to satisfy my every changing beer moods and this is one of my very favorite breweries. I generally done like Ambers but theirs is incredibly. I have to try everything on tap when I go in. Their beers are their own and you never know what you will find. I also love the building! Something about a brewery in an old neighborhood donut shop creates a singular experience that pairs with the uncommon beer.

What a great find for a brewery. This is a smaller brewery which is great since the beers rotate frequently and are more creative than you get at a larger brewery. The prices are fantastic. When I visited, every beer was $6; even the higher ABV beers. The free samples they provide are huge relative to most breweries and they offer free popcorn. So if you're looking for a great brewery with excellent beers at a great price, this is the place. When I visited the owner was serving beers, so we had a great conversation about the different beer types and styles which you also don't get at the larger breweries.
