Great vibe! Bartender was very attentive and fast at making drinks. Very chill spot with three different sections. We only got to check out the first two sections and did not check out downstairs. The first room is full of people just chatting having a beer or two. The second room is a lot livelier, that is the room that the karaoke takes place in. We checked out 2/3 and they were both great depending on the vibe you were going for that night. We loved all the punny decor along the walls.

It's the best live music and karaoke bar that I've been to in downtown. A true hidden gem with great music that's on all 7 days a week!! Everyone there is sweet and we were surprised by how well people can sing!! It's a complete vibe! We also tried the cheese curds which went well with our drinks!!

A cool nighttime hang out with a little bit of everything. It was also one of the only spots in the area that was accessible, meaning no line and no insane cover charge.Once inside, there are three different areas with a slightly different vibe in each. You walk into the first bar area with all of the Christmas lights and a live band. That night it was a Grateful Dead cover band so the crowd chilling in this area averaged in the older range. This includes myself, I am older. Downstairs there was another bar, but also pool and quite a few other bar games. A mixed group of people socializing and having fun. Music is not too loud so if you are looking to catch up, this might be a better choice. The third area was back upstairs around the corner from the first bar. This space seemed to be smaller than the other two and was packed. The night we were there it was a younger crowd taking shots and killing karaoke! Just about every level of energy and vibe to choose from.

Very welcoming place. Karaoke with KJ Ray was fantastic. He let us sing a lot, even though there were only a few of us! (Most KJ's waste precious karaoke singer time playing songs in between singers. Not Ray! It's karaoke and only karaoke! Good for him! Karaoke singers wanna sing, not sit and listen to music we can hear at home or at DJ dance night! Duh!)Bartender J.R. was very attentive and a good singer as well!Ergys at the front bar was fantastic. I brought a small concern to his attention, and he had it fixed within 10 minutes! Thanks also to barback Jimmy for his hard work and help!

I love this place ,i end up here almost each week . it's always a good vibe and great ambiance with games ,music,good food ,karaoke and the staff it's always nice . Ergys the bartender it's always super nice and make sure you're all right. In the weekend it's always crowded because it's a fun place to be.Totally recommend

Was in town for a conference and found Mom's Place in a quest for a local spot with music. It was even better than expected. From the fun atmosphere to the friendly locals to the doting bartenders, I look forward to returning to Chicago and stopping in for another live band karaoke night.

Earlier this week, I gave this place a lukewarm warm review, which I'll delete. On Friday, I signed up for karaoke and was 12th on the list. Long story short, after not being called after 15 songs, I periodically asked my place on line and was repeatedly told lies, "You're next." After more than 30 songs, it was finally my turn. The karaoke host was deliberately giving me inaccurate reports, and it was quite frustrating.The owner responded to my review and explained that folks would tip the karaoke host to cut online. Apparently, this was known exclusively through Word Of Mouth. I did not know. So, I visited again on Tuesday when there was karaoke with a live band. It was run far better. You use your phone to get the list of available songs. At the bottom of that page, it discloses that if you Venmo the band $20, you can cut the line. Also, the band would regularly announce a new singer and say "we have another person to cut the line." Could not have been more forthright and honest. Respect.When I signed up with the live band, they were 57 singers listed. So, now that I knew the rules, I sent more than the $20 and was up next. I suppose they go with whoever tips the most. The "game" is a lot fairer when everyone knows the rules.I would definitely visit this place again. And, now, with this review, you know the written and unwritten rules so you can tell whether or not it is the place for you.And, I'd suggest to the owner that the bar let all karaoke singers who use recorded music know the rules too. To be honest, all that host had to say to me was "You're number 12 now, but if tips come in, that'll change." I'd give 5 stars if he hadn't repeatedly lied to my face, repeatedly saying, "You're next" and another 5 songs would go without me being called. I just can't stand liars.

Cool, chill, laid back bar with 3 different areas. You have your live music area, the karaoke section and the basement. Each has its own vibe so choose your poison!

Cool place for a night our! Came here to kick off my sisters wedding weekend and it was fun! I loved the lights. It wasn't very busy when we got there but got crowded fast. I will say for karaoke if seemed like the same people got turns to sing over and over again and I ended up leaving because I had waited so long for my sister and her fiancé to sing even though they were like the first people to put their song and names in. Was still fun though. Didn't get food but someone near us got a burger and tots and the tots smelled amazing. Glad we got to check this spot out!

I specifically downloaded this app to make sure it's known this place has awful bouncers. We were let into the bar early in the night for $5 and then 30 minutes later we went outside to meet some friends and go back in. We were met with the bouncers claiming a $10 fee even though we had just stepped outside. They claimed we didn't have a stamp on our hands. We reluctantly agreed and paid the cover again, this time asking for a stamp as we walked in. Where the big tough bouncer decided to stamp my girlfriends forehead aggressively after she asked for a stamp and reached out her hand. When we took offense and called him out for being unbelievably rude, they decided to kick us out. Other staff was nice, bouncers need a hug from a fatherly figure and then to be fired.
