Nice outdoor bar area. The fans and shaded bar made for a comfortable setting even if it is hot out. All the cocktails were great that we tried. Julep and old-fashioned were the standouts. They don't have it on their menu, but they do offer flights so you can sample each of the spirits they make.

"Welcome home" is typically what you hear when you step inside. The owners are always so welcoming and the bartenders are always serving up something yummy. When you walk in, you go through a covered area to the bar and the sitting area, which is covered, but open. The tables are spaced apart enough to make you feel comfortable, so you can enjoy your drinks without getting accidentally elbowed by anyone consuming too much moonshine. My family frequents this place around twice a month and we love it because my kids can play the games they have there while the adults drink and they're still close enough for us to watch and make sure they're okay. I also love the fact that it's one of the few places I have felt okay with going during covid. I haven't been inside of a bar or eaten inside of a restaurant since last March and this place makes me forget about the pandemic for a few hours. You get to get out of the house and be around others in a safe setting and that's such a great feeling! There's normally a yummy food truck and some sort of live entertainment since they're only open on Saturdays and Sundays, so stop by and grab a box car punch or a wassail/apple cider with cinnamon moonshine and get a bite to eat from one of the yummy food trucks. You'll have a good time knowing you're supporting a local business and you'll be happy because you're drinking some delicious liquor.

It was my first time checking out the distillery this weekend and I liked it! There is a lot of room for everyone to sit outside. The drinks are very strong. I had one and I had to slow down right after that. There was a food truck in the back that you can order food from if you're hungry. I look forward to coming back again!

MKT is a distillery which is about taste, ambience and experience. If you are a whiskey drinker, then definitely do not miss out their specially aged whiskey called "Engineer".The distillery is located right in the middle of Rice Silos of Katy which is definitely a Historical location. The staffs are very friendly and the owner Nicky and Nick are very knowledgeable. Good selection of cocktails they have.

What a cool place that is preserving this area's history! We tasted all the different varieties and bought a bottle to take home. This is some of my favorite local bourbon. All the liquor was very good and unique. Ask for a tour and you get to see how they make it, all the best history of the silos and the giant scales. It's really neat! It's a good atmosphere and the people are so friendly. Will be back to support!

MKT Distillery is worth a visit, but have your expectations appropriately set. Overall I found this to be more bar and less whiskey experience than I would have liked it to be. Visit when you know there will be entertainment. On its own, I think a visitor will be disappointed. We attended on the night of their first anniversary. The spirits - nothing here is top shelf quality. This doesn't mean that the spirits are bad or undrinkable, but, in my opinion, there are no diamonds in the rough waiting to be found by the masses. The day we visited we sampled two whiskeys, vodka, a cinnamon whiskey and an aquavit (Valhala). For me the whiskeys lacked a well developed flavor and were quite alcohol forward. Cinnamon whiskey is not to my liking. MKT's version was much less sweet than Fireball. The aquavit was heavily herbed and brought to mind vermouth. We asked about the herbs used for flavoring, but apparently this was top secret! Seemed like a little Colonel Sanders overkill to me. MKT could use a tasting menu or guided tasting to enhance the experience for visitors. The ladies in our group sampled the cocktails. The cocktail offerings were basic and the consensus from the ladies was that they were a little weak. Prices were reasonable for the drinks, but the bottle price was too high for me to make a purchase given other local choices. The venue - trying for charm . . . . The distillery is located in the office building between the old rice silos near the railroad tracks in the old town part of Katy. The feel is industrial which is typical of micro breweries/distilleries. Where you actually drink is between the two rows of silos. The folks at MKT have placed a roof over the space between the silos and added tables and chairs. The problem is that even on this first weekend in October it was very warm and there was no breeze making its way between the silos to cool us off. There was also a lack of bar stools for the tables. The tables were sized so that four persons could gather comfortably, but they seemed to have only enough stools for two per table. Initially, the live music was set up at the mouth of the row of silos which made it difficult to enter the distillery and impossible to communicate once you made it in.They have plenty of schwag available for purchase in the typical price range, but because I didn't find MKT to be anything special the dollars stayed in my wallet.

Had the opportunity to visit this place for the first time. Lot of fun outdoor games for the kids and pet friendly as well. Service was great and the drinks were top notch. I'm not the biggest liquor drinker but they had some of the smoothest whiskey and moonshine I've ever tasted. Give them a try, and maybe you'll find a new favorite.. and get to support a local business, too!

I would consider myself a fairly experienced Bourbon and Whisk(e)y enthusiast. I've sampled over 1,000 different whiskeys and own over 600 bottles from around the globe. That being said, this is the worst Bourbon and Corn Whiskey I have ever tried. Admittedly I hate to say that. I would love to tell you that a local distillery is making some great spirits. There are many: Yellow Rose and Shire come to mind. The bourbon is just not enjoyable. It is a very astringent offering and I would not be surprised if this is an extremely young whiskey. It has a lot of heat, does not mellow, has little to no oak flavors, not even long enough to draw out many of the oils or tannins. It's obvious by the color that it's not aged long at all. This is a $15 bottle of whiskey. The labeling is even cheap. the bottle is $50-60. comparatively, you could buy Makers mark cask strength, Buffalo Trace, or even Eagle Rare for $10 cheaper.
