A quick update. This past Sunday, my wife and I treated two friends of ours who were recently married to dinner at Mr. A's and it was great from beginning to end. Our reservation was at 7:15PM and I asked for (and received) a table outdoors. It was a beautiful evening and the weather and the view were perfect. Without going through all the dishes the four of us had -- which were all excellent -- I want to give a special shoutout to the vegan (and veganizable) items on the menu. Mr. A's has really stepped up their plant-based offerings since the last time I was there. My wife and I both ordered the lion's mane mushroom "au poivre" with twice baked potato and it was AMAZING. Well worth the price of admission, and maybe a little more. And our sides -- veganized carrots, brussels sprouts, and mushrooms -- were also excellent. The drinks and service were great, and the Sea World fireworks in the distance as dinner wound down were the icing on this very delicious cake. We'll be back...

Yes, the view is amazing. Yes, the food is impeccable. But honestly you can find that in most any major city at multiple locations. What stands out to me is that the staff is always so consistently humble and helpful. Clearly there is some good management making sure that the people they look over are tending to things as the manager would personally. Today I took my parents who were visiting from out of town. Being the goober I am, I left my sunglasses in the car down the street, even though we were about to be eating on a rooftop during sunset. My server noticed my lack of sunglasses without me having to say anything, and he offered a loaner pair before we even sat down. The loaner pair did not look "loaner" at all, and looked nice for the pics I took with my parents. My parents could not stop thanking me for the experience and raving over the food. We shared ribeye, scallop, and halibut entrees. All were amazing. A group favorite was also the pork belly appetizer, which is so good it's the kind of thing where I'll be glad I live in Oceanside so I'm not tempted to get it every night.Oh and give the escargot a shot even if you haven't tried escargot before. Especially if you're a fan of garlic.

Friendly reminder - there's a dress code! A little fancier than most downtown restaurants and no shorts / open toed shoes for men after 4 My family and I ordered: Brussels Sprouts - The portion size was definitely shareable! It was good but there was sooo much olive oil it masked the flavor of the actual Brussel sprouts. This was topped with bacon & cheese, it was good but could do without all the oil Truffle Fries - Now this was the star of the show! So delicious and crispy, definitely recommend! Bread - A little hard but the inside was nice and soft. It came with a side of butter and olive oil to dipPork Belly - My husband loved this! He said the sauce was bomb & the sticky rice at the bottom was a good balance, this should be a main course Salmon Wellington - I wanted to like this so bad but it wasn't it for me tbh. The salmon itself was good but the sauce and asparagus that came with it was so sour and the Wellington part of the salmon was soggy :( Pistachio dessert - This wasn't on the menu but I love anything pistachio so 10/10Customer service / Overall - Their service is what you'd expect for a fancier restaurant. They were super friendly & professional and I loved that I never had to ask for water LOL every time I drank my glass it was filled right back up which was amazing (it's the little things). All in all, if it's a special occasion & you wanna dress up then this place is a good choice but my overall experience for such an expensive dinner, the food itself was mid.

Came here today for Saturday jazz brunch! We surprised my mother in law by having 11 of us there for her birthday. From making the reservation, to a few emailed questions, to Kateryna's service, I was so pleased with the service!! The food was absolutely delicious. Even my brother in law said how impressed he was, he was expecting it to be old school and just not great. Everyone really loved their dishes and drinks. Some highlights-Espresso martiniShrimp & gritsMac n cheeseCaesar saladBeignets Sweet potato hash with porkThe birthday dessert was incredible and really blew us away. It felt so generous of them. Kateryna was so awesome! The kids meals were good too. Prices made sense, ambience and view were incredible!! I'd love to come back!

Long overdue post but really enjoyed my time here at Mister A's in SD! This is a fine dining restaurant where there is a dress code and rooftop seating. Parking was difficult and confusing so we just went with valet. We had to ride up an elevator up to the 12th floor, and we then got seated shortly (booked reservations). My family and I were there to celebrate my parents anniversary. Service was excellent and the views were amazing- we were able to overlook the entire downtown San Diego and even saw planes flying past us that night as well as fireworks from SeaWorld. We ordered the following items: 1) Red Top Pork Belly2) Salmon Wellington 3) Mushroom Risotto 4) Pork Chop5) Grilled Sea BassI didn't think any of the dishes were too extraordinary as most of the items were on the saltier end (risotto and pork chop specifically). What really shocked me was the salmon Wellington, which wasn't too filling like a beef Wellington and the salmon was soft. The pork belly just reminded me of a "try-hard Asian pork belly dish" but westernized. Overall, for a fine dining restaurant, the food isn't anything to rave about but the views make up for this. I don't know if I'd come back here unless it's for a special occasion since the food is pretty expensive. Service was great though; helped us take a lot of beautiful photos and gave great recommendations.

Sat at the bar for dinner after work and we had such a great time. The staff and service were great. Angelo the bartender was so nice and friendly and recommended the best drinks and dessert. To top it off, this restaurant is gorgeous, love the view. We ordered the mussels for appetizer and it was delicious. We also shared the halibut for dinner, it was very flavorful. Best part of the meal was the peach cobbler, OMG.... That's all I have to say about it. You just have to try it for yourself.

At first this choice was on the bucket list for views as you can see all over San Diego's downtown skyline and harbor all in one sitting, but I left knowing it would not be my first visit. It's very elegant and classy from the decor to the attention to detail, this place had me in awe from my first step out of the elevator. The eggs were fluffy and delicate and the cornbread in the cast iron skillet was the best cornbread I've had in my life. The crust on it the moistness, I crave this cornbread and it's worth the visit alone. Wait is what it is when it comes to Downtown San Diego for brunch but the views make the wait enjoyable.

We came here around 9:45pm on a Friday night and loooved it. We only had drinks, but they were excellent along with the gorgeous views we were able to stand and admire! The staff was so nice and we loved the way they poured the drinks from the bottle. We're most definitely coming back to try the food next time.
