Wingdam Saloon & Grill

Great breakfast! On a Saturday morning, there were not a lot of people and plenty of room for our group of 5. We had good service. I had a very traditional egg plate with scrambled eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. The Bloody Mary wasn't full of much flavor, but I will definitely come back next time I am in the area!

Went in for an early lunch. It was an enjoyable atmosphere with friendly service. All of the food was hot and the beer was cold! Best soft pretzel in awhile!

"Wing-dam, Girl!"Wing-dam Saloon and Grill in Fountain City is where you go to "treat your liver to a drink on the river" when boating in the area, post walking tour of Kinstone (Stonehenge of America), or after blowing more money than you will ever admit to at Fountain City/Cochrane's yearly, gigantic, Christmas craft show. I wouldn't know anything about that. My wallet is not talking either.After powering through goat-dotted farmland and thirty acres of megalithic sculpture gardens at Kinstone one sunny Saturday, a friend and I had worked up a some serious hunger. We stopped in to the saloon to dredge up some local sedimentary sustenance as fuel for the rest of our day, and to enjoy the river views from the patio seating area.I ordered the batter-fried, haddock filet sandwich, served on a grilled ciabatta roll. The sandwich was advertised with American cheese, but who does that? Local bullhead "Edward Longshanks" can't make heads or tails of it either. He says, "Leave off the cheese and mayo", and I say, "Wing-dam straight to that!" I'm always highly suspicious of attempts to enhance or cover up fish. Call me boring, but I think a proper fish fillet should stand or flop on its own. In this case I'd give it a flaky 2.5 dorsal fins up on the Haddock 5-Fin Scale.My sandwich came with a choice of fries, coleslaw, or soup. Now you won't catch this girl eating coleslaw. Ever. Not even if Anthony Bourdain would spoon-feed it to me himself. So natch, I went with the fries. But like the challis-fail scene from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", I chose poorly. The fries were limp and soggy, but luckily we had ordered a side of the white cheddar cheese curds to split. The curds were wonderful, but then you already knew that because, hey, this is Wisconsin.My friend ordered rabbit food mixed-greens topped with cheddar cheese, tomatoes, onions, and Cajun chicken that had the perfect amount of kick. The lettuce was fresh and crispy, though probably from a bag (this is a bar, after all). Service seemed fast for our neighboring tables, but our order was held up for some reason. Other than that, we had an enjoyable experience and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food (we were expecting straight up bar food when we walked in). The saloon is quite large, and there are several televisions throughout if you are there to watch a game. On the Rural Wisconsin Bar Food and Experience Scale, I would give this place an overall solid 3 rating. ~The Nosy NorwegianSniffing out good deals, cheese-free Haddock,and questionable smells from the Mississippi River so that you don't have to.

We did not eat there, reason for one star was that I called ahead to confirm that dogs were allowed on patio and they said yes. When we got there, there was no outside entrance to the patio and we couldn't bring dog through the bar (which is understood). Who I believe was the owner seemed a little grumpy about it, I just said I called and whoever answered told us we could, oh well.....

Great breakfast food!!! We had a really good waitress which can make all the difference. I recommend the eggs, ham, hash browns with home made sour dough bread. This bread is the best I've ever had- could of eat a whole loaf

Only reason I gave any stars was because on Yelp in order to write a comment you first have to give a star rating....anyways Tiktok brought me here, with the death that happened in 2014 :( so sad

Great biker friendly spot - EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE. Pricing was spot on food was delicious service was AWESOME and the locals were very friendly and welcoming. Thank you sooo much

Such a fun place with great service! Stopped in and they had some great live music! The food was very good. Our group had a burgers, the Bavarian pretzel and chicken strips. Delicious!

New owners and the food is amazing! We had fish fry and jumbo shrimp, sweet chili wings, prime rib and a haddock sandwich over two days. The food was amazing and the staff is great! I'd highly recommend it!

Watch your bill - I was overcharged- The server tried making it right- was still overcharged. I had the breakfast buffet- very good- Now on I will pay as i go- tabs get expensive
