Would be a lot better if they didn't have disaffected teenagers working the meat counter and dropping product on the floor after weighing. "Ope, my bad. I'll get ya another one." Clumsiness like that doesn't help their high prices. Better off going to a real butcher where the craft is taken seriously and with care. I do like to support local business whenever practical, but I'll go to Von Hansen's from now on. The fact they haven't even claimed their Yelp presence is a red flag.

I've visited this little neighborhood store twice and I'm still kinda neutral on it. I came here, specifically, to nab some meat for a roast. I did not have a custom order, which seems to be their forte, and just picked up an existing cut. Seems decently priced, considering, and a failry good selection. Not to oimporessed with the produce section and the prices are a bit high, but it is a mom-n-pop shop so that is to be expected. I thing this place would really shine if they pused their butcher shop section a bit more, maybe working with local ranchers, or adverising the fact that they do, more. I like that it's been around since '58.

This has been my go-to neighborhood grocery store for nearly 3 years. It's incredibly convenient and stocks nearly everything I've needed despite being a quarter the size of larger supermarkets. I highly recommend their in-house classic bratwursts - can't be beat.

I love the quaint, neighborhood character. And I'm always amazed at the variety and quality offered in such a relatively small store. Their meat counter is renowned throughout Twin Cities, and rightfully so. The produce, while limited compared to the large corporations, is fresh; and it's all the typical things I look for anyway. In every category of food -- canned goods, frozen, condiments, bread, coffee, etc. -- they've managed to provide best quality and the main things I look for in any grocery. The prices are quite reasonable; and of course, it's great to park on the street only a few away. It's clean, organized and well stocked. My only criticism is that every time I've been in there the staff are cold and sullen.

We are fortunate to have them in our great neighborhood.Great staff, wonderful support of local food items and of course the meat counter is top notch.Always shop here and it's a weekend treat to stop in for weekly groceries Update: very disappointed to see price gouging under new owners. $8.05 for 4 rolls of toilet paper. 3/12/20

The store has changed owners since my last review, and the new owners are investing in the store. It has a nicer exterior look and I'm seeing consistent improvements inside as well. It's a small store, and we are there once a week for smaller lists, but it has all the necessities. I especially like their beef sticks with cheddar. It's quick, convenient, and fairly priced.

THIS is my "happy place."I love how you can find everything that you need, can trade fluorescent lights for natural light from the huge store windows, how the produce is truly fresh and clean, the boundless amount of organic selections are amazing, and how unique, niche products live side-by-side with tried and true favorites. The employees are always friendly and the checkout process is always such a joy.I make excuses to stop there!Leave the Cubs and Targets for huge restocks, but when you are doing daily shops, this is the best place to go. Bar none. Hands down.

Ambiance is "meh". Service is bet good and great. Food is a little expensive but that's probably because it's a small town business.

I have shopped at Widmer's for 50 years. Today I walked back to the meat department and there was no famous Widmer's ground beef! Since Oxendale's bought this gem in the Mac Groveland neighborhood, it is no longer the friendly and wonderful place to shop. The shelves aren't stocked, the local bakery products are gone and meat department is pathetic. Time for Oxendale's to sell Widmer's to someone who will restore it to the thriving store it once was. In the meantime, I'll be shopping at Kowalski's. So sad!

I LOVE this little neighborhood store. Not only is it famous for its meat department but somehow they manage to stock all of the things you might need in your house. And the prices are really reasonable. Convenience store ease with big box prices. I don't know how they do it but I'm a huge fan!!
