Von Hanson's Meats

My husband is a beef jerkey connoisseur, and he LOVES the jerkey here. We come by routinely to pick up some jerkey and also dabble in other items like the beef sticks or the brats.We find the quality to be excellent at Von Hansons and the staff to be both friendly and knowledgeable. it's a great place to go if you have a specific question or a special request. In many ways it reminds me of the old-school butcher shop, though I know they have many locations!A few complaints about this specific locale -- there's never any parking in that crazy tiny parking lot. We wish they were open for longer hours, especially on the weekends. And we wish they would run more coupons -- occasionally we get some in the Star Tribune or other local coupon book type pamphlets that come to the house.But we do appreciate teh quality, expertise and service. Lovely!

Absolutely nothing special about this place. Prices are higher than at kowalskis or lunds and they don't even have any original offerings that you can't find elsewhere. They say in their history and their "philosophy" that they wanted to bring a local butcher service with only fresh meats but you walk in there and half of what you see is frozen, the other half is Boars Head and it's all overpriced. I've been to locations all over the twin cities - avoid this place like the plague.

All I can say about this place is quality, quality, quality - anything you buy. Not much fish, but as feather and fur goes, they've got it all - fresh, great quality, and good prices. Lots of wonderful side dishes, drinks, and other offerings as well. Pretty much a one-stop shop for food for a social event. Friendly, knowledgeable help. They clearly don't hire from college IT departments, because these folks actually make eye contact and smile, and come around from behind the display counter to hand you your purchases, instead of throwing them over the top. Obviously, somebody here knows something about gracious service.You need to be warned - their dill-ranch pretzels have been classified as highly addictive. I have been assured, upon asking, that the necessary licenses and 12-step recovery programs are in place.

It really seems like your focus on product variety is lacking. I was hoping to buy a leaner beef roast from you and all you offer is chuck roast. No arm roast, top or bottom round roast. But these cuts were common with the old fashioned meat markets. The current coupons are for prepared stroganoff hot dish, apple crisp and dog bones. The employee was friendly but I had to go elsewhere for that old fashioned beef variety.

I purchased the beef stroganoff hotdish. Very disappointed in this item. It had about two pieces of meat and three mushrooms. It basically is macaroni and cheese and should be renamed just that. A waste to time and money and definitely isn't worth trying.

I have been here many times. but tonight, I was at the Monticello location and the young man working went above and beyond when he saw he had my daughter with me. Not only was he fast, and attentive to my order, but he asked to bring my stuff to my car for me because he saw I was carrying my daughter. very enjoyable experience and nice to see someone so caring working.

I am at Nebraska Brewing Company, and just tried the tangy mustard pretzels! Sooooo Wonderful!

They had them ready.Thicker steak or specific weight cut? Ask! Butchers LOVE their jobs and practice!Great freezer section of sides. Breads, pizzas, breakfast bakes, cheesy potatoes, beef sticks in every variety....THE BEST beef jerky weve ever had. The best. Remember....ask and u shall receive. Ps dog treats galore. We ALWAYS purchase the fresh shanks 4 our pups. No commercial crap for my pups.Give it a shot. I've NEVER been disappointed and I KNOW if I ever was they would handle it'

Great meat market, however we tried the egg bake and it was so salty we couldn't eat it.Tone down the salt 50% and it will be good.Wish I could return the other 2 I bought.

When I brought in my venison from last season to have ground, I told them very explicitly upwards of 12 times that I didn't want it combined with any beef or pork. Like full stops and triple-checks explicit. Guess what's in it. Tons of hamburger and tons of fat. It doesn't even look like ground venison. I find out later that you don't even get your own meat back; they just weigh it, combine it all, and you get a certain amount of packages back. Well anyway, it's therefore ruined for my wife, so I'm pretty much giving it away. Never again, Von Hanson's. There are lots of places that will grind and package your meat for a boutique price. Most of them won't ruin it.
