Ugh. I really wanted to love this place! Let's talk about the positives first.. First impression - it's a clean restaurant with just a handful of tables. You order at the counter then they'll bring the food to you. Had to try the eggrolls since I've heard so much about them. They're huge and meaty with a good crisp on the outside! Here's where the stars start going down. Ordering and Paying - their menu isn't extensive, but they have the staples, which is great! A standard bowl of pho is $9, no different sizes or anything, but then it's an additional $3 for each protein. So if I wanted to get a typical house special, I'd be paying over $20 for a regular sized bowl of pho. So the bill adds up quickly! They have the standard tip option after you pay with your card. The options are no top, 15%, 20%, and higher. I asked if there was a way to do a custom tip and the lady said no. So I selected no tip and figured we'd leave what cash we had with us after we ate. The food - cream cheese wontons has scallions in it, wasn't expecting it and wasn't a fan. The kids wouldn't even eat a second bite! The pho was nothing special. Disappointing that the menu is ala carte, so the pho was pretty basic and the broth was only ok. Had a more fragrant smell than others, but the taste was just ok. The thing that was the most disappointing was the service. Not once did the young lady that took my order and bring the food out smile or use any manners whatsoever. My 15 year old even noticed, and as we were leaving she went up to her and said thank you, and the young lady had no response! Vn Express will never be my first choice but still an option for something out in the burbs.

Pho time! So excited to try a new pho restaurant and they also have a wide variety of other food options as well. Upon walking in, you need to head to the counter and order and then they will bring your order to your table. They roughly have 5 modern tables to dine at. The very very cool thing about this restaurant is that they are represented at the state fair. They also have to die for egg rolls, iced Vietnamese coffee, and cream cheese wontons. (Que viet concession) I ordered the pho with thin steak. I love the fact that the accoutrements were on a platter on top of the bowl...I've never seen that and so clever! The meal was delish and there was even some leftover to take home. My only note was that there was no music playing so it was a bit quiet in there but I can't wait to come back.

I don't usually expect much from Asian restaurants in the suburb but I was surprised to have enjoyed it. The pho was flavorful and the garlic chili oil was a nice kick. I ordered mine to go so I got all the little accoutrements packages all nicely. I had the spring rolls but I found them to lack anything memorable - I'd have loved some mint in them. The sweet and sour chicken had a hint of spice but I'm thankful they packed it separately from the sauce so it wasn't soggy by the time I got it home. I think the cost is definitely higher than what you would typically see in Vietnamese restaurants but you're in the suburbs, I expect a markup. Service was quick and everything was packaged nicely. Place was quiet, clean and open. I'll have to come back and try these eggrolls but I'm really picky about eggrolls.

The pho is great. Flavorful, clear n light. Medium to small sized noodles.... a must get. Nine dollar for the pho with additional add ons. This can be pricey cause I want all the add ons. Ox tail was good; I ate it to the bones. The rice noodles (bun) were average tasting with small size shrimp. Food came out quick. Good service. Small place; about alittle over dozen or so for seating.

FINALLY! This is the place I've been looking for in the SW metro serving really great Asian takeout. Only problem is it's not Chinese food per se rather as the name implies it's Vietnamese. Ordered the Pho with beef and shrimp, Egg Rolls and Pork Fried Rice. They advertise the egg rolls as State Fair eggrolls and remind me of Que Viet which in my book means best around! They are hefty and stuffed with mostly meat, unless of course you get the vegetable ones for some strange reason. The pho broth was crystal clear and thankfully didn't just rely on five spice for its flavor. Really loved the to go bowl which has a tray for the veggies that sits atop the bowl of lightly cooked beef and noodles. The broth should have been much hotter but a couple minutes in the microwave and it was ready to finish the cooking on the meat and noodles. The fried rice was perfect and something I would happily eat anytime I have a craving for it. The space is small and primarily for takeout but they do have a very limited amount of seating inside. So excited to try more items and grateful I now have a go too for Asian food in my not so new part of the city!

Stopped in to try the state fair egg rolls as I've heard nothing but great things. Let me tell you... they are fantastic! Served made to order.... Fresh, hot, and crispy! Restaurant is clean. Smaller restaurant with a handful of tables (more take out). The gal who helped us was welcoming. The state fair wontons are the next thing on the list to try. Of course, an egg roll to go with it.

So my significant other and I finally got to try VN Express and I have to say I'm impressed. It's small inside so definitely not ideal for bigger groups, I guess that's the reason for express in the name. My other half and I ordered pho, and spring rolls. She had beef and I had chicken and shrimp pho. I had a bottle of water and she had Vietnamese coffee that she said was wonderful. The staff were really helpful and greeted us with smiles. We were served by Bonnie, even though she was busy with call in orders and helping the cooks in the back she still made time to check in on us. We dined in and we liked what they did with the space. The bathroom was clean and this place has a lot of potential. The one thing that blew me away is that they only have pork spring rolls and I do not eat pork or beef. Bonnie came to the rescue and made me some shrimp spring rolls which really made me feel special.I can honestly say I have never been to a place that was so caring and eager to make the customers feel special. My girlfriend ordered their wings the next day photo not included because they were so good we devoured them before we had the chance. They have a lot of other things that I am excited to try also, so we will return, thanks Bonnie and VN Express!!!

Great service, easy to order, quick pickup. Best egg rolls and phơ in Woodbury. The wontons are great too.

I went there the first time yesterday. Saw what other people were ordering and decided to get the egg rolls to test this place out. I understand why they are at the state fairgrounds with those now. I'll likely require an order per day now and hopefully, I'll leave room or bring more people to try out everything else.
