Two tacos on the right, a taco and a sope on the left. We ate in the small indoor section, but it's mainly for take out.
The entrance is just around the corner from the carniceria.

Ordered delivery and I must say that Valerie's makes excellent Mexican food.I had a chorizo and carnitas burrito which I found fresh, flavorful and quite large. Maybe it's a function of age but I think it's a bit pricey. I'll add it's certainly within range of similar establishments.Next time I'll try a trio of tacos but I worry about them traveling well. My concern is probably overblown. But having tacos fresh and on the premises seems superior. Like I said, next time. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. ;-)BTW: I prefer the spicy hot green sauce over the less spicy red. But I don't think that you could go wrong either way.At any rate, another quality place from which to choose.

It's been a while, but the food is still very good. The one good change I noticed is that they now have tamales every day. I had two street tacos, lengua and barbacoa, along with a pork tamale, rice & beans. Very nice staff.

We got chorizo, Barbacoa and carne asada tacos,, the Barbacoa was not bad, but the chorizo was the best! Only reason we gave it 4 was because we have tasted better tacos but highly recommend!

Yes. Authentic Mexica. As a former LA-resident it really hard to find this outside of LA. This is the best i've had in Minneapoli.

If you want authentic and flavorful Mexican with easy parking, this is your place. They make everything from scratch here and it's all very tasty and flavorful. I got the chicken tacos and chips with guacamole. Service was great and I got my food very fast. Very nicely prepared and served with a kind smile. I live in Omaha, and will certainly come back the next time I am in Minneapolis. Cheers, Glen Weaver.

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start.Remember Contra on NES, where you frantically -yet carefully- mashed these buttons at the title screen in order to get 30 lives? (Yes?) Well, today, I wish I entered some sort of life code, so I could've eaten more of Valerie Taqueria's tacos. The space is small, painted with some bright colors, and has a a simple (yet robust) menu hanging to the left chillin' next to a large statue of Mother Mary. No tables exist, so if you're not taking your food to go, you'll have to put your rump at the counter seating by the windows.Okay, that's nice. What about the food? For my late lunch, I ordered four tacos total (two al pastor and two carnitas) and a horchata:Al pastor: Slightly overcooked (and not as juicy) than other places that make great al pastor; however, it's still delicious, and it's packed with a lot of chili powder. (Just how I like it.)Carnitas: Unlike other places that slow cook and pull apart the pork shoulder, Valerie's lightly grills it. Even though it's a bit chewier, it has a tasty slight char and still plenty succulent. *Note: They'll ask if you want green or red sauce with your meal. I haven't had the red, but the green provides that extra kick for those that like their food spicy. (I'm looking at you, BK. J.)Horchata: Sweet, cold, and refreshing - pretty standard. And that's a good thing.Price: More affordable than other taquerias without compromising taste. Service: Although very nice, it was incredibly slow. Even though I was the third customer there, I didn't get my food for about fifteen or twenty minutes later. One person that came after me even got his food before mine. I didn't put in a huge order, so I don't think that's acceptable. Nonetheless, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and not count it against them.Overall, I would definitely return. Great food for a great price.

I was not expecting to find legit tacos in Minneapolis, but here I am eating some delicious tacos topped with the real stuff: cilantro, onion, lime juice, and meat. On corn tortillas! It is legit and they made the tacos fresh in front of my eyes! It's a small place. You order at the counter, and they will make it on the grill behind. I ordered 4 different tacos -- lengua, tripe, carnitas, barbacoa. Then I saw the cook handling some raw intestine -- turns out, it was the tripe for my tacos. Crazy fresh food. And the flavors were spot on. The green sauce is the best, with fresh cilantro and tomatillo flavors. The red sauce was a bit disappointing, it was creamy but not nearly as spicy as I like it. I didnt have to reach for my horchata any time. Still, my overall experience was amazing. I grew up in southern California; it felt like I was tasting food from there again. They were all delicious, but out of my tacos, I enjoyed the carnitas and lengua the most. Lengua was so juicy and soft, and carnitas just burst with pork flavor. I was most disappointed by the tripas, not because of the flavor, but because they gave the least amount of meat and the ratio seemed off.Tacos are $2.59 or $2.99, depending on the meat, and the horchata was $1.99. They take credit card!!

Not easy to find but you'll be glad you looked. Our group tried the tacos (both kinds), burrito, and Alembra. It was all excellent. Very limited seating so probably best to plan to get it to go.
