After a long drive from Iowa, finally getting checked in to our hotel, we needed some food and a good drink. Trobec's Bar & Grill in Saint Stephens ended up being our destination. When we 1st arrived they were extremely friendly and even though they just had closed the kitchen down, they graciously reopened it to ensure we were able to get a good meal. Love the small town hospitality. We will definitely be back again.

Rob had a terrific hamburger and I had a chicken philly sandwich, which was ok but a bit salty. Good fries. Despite the Yelp not mentioning it, they do have done in. We found out too late that breakfast is all day!

St. Stephen is home to three bars, a bank, and a Church (and some other businesses). There's Howie's Bar, The Rusty Nail, and Trobec's. Trobec's has been around for 80 years. It's well known for its annual Chicken Fry every June which serves some 2,000 people. This bar was a former bar and grocery store. It's been expanded a couple of times so that it now has a small bar section, and a larger dining room section. They have daily specials. We stopped today and had their bacon cheeseburger special. It was yummy... standard bar food, but hit the spot. As this was my first time at the establishment, I can't speak to the rest of the food, but would expect it to be tasty based on the burger and dessert we had today. The bar area has lots of historical photographs of the bar/grocery store and some great history about the original owner, Joseph Trobec. The dining room is large and could accommodate a sizable group or even a reception. The bar area has a number of televisions for watching a sporting event, but not too many so that they're distracting if you sit in the dining room.Trobec's is open year-round and is a great option if you're passing through on County Road 2, which is a popular route between Interstate 94 and Highway 10 in Rice. It's popular with bikers and snowmobilers.

The best Philly ever! Great Friday seafood buffets and the drinks cannot be beat. Rib night is great and the pizza and taco bar that they serve for large groups cannot be beat.

I had gone to Trobec's on January 26th, 2013 to speak to a man named Ray (the owner) about catering options for my upcoming wedding. He had said he would have estimates done by monday January 28th, 2013. It is now February 7th, 2013 and after placing 5 calls leaving messages for him and sending an email I still have no estimate done and no response to my request. I still do not understand why I have not received a return phone call or email that I was promised. I am not please with how they handle their business, there was no professionalism displayed. I do not recommend taking them on for catering.
