Thorpedo Restaurant

Thorp, WI. If you are on the highway and need a decent meal, this is a good place. The owner is very attentive and friendly. All of the waitresses are friendly, kind, and helpful. They offer a great alternative to roadside fast food. The coffee is good. I ordered something on special and honestly don't even remember what it was, but it tasted like home cooked comfort food. While the dish was not memorable, the welcoming, relaxed ambiance was. I will be back for sure as I'm on this route at least once a year. Some people refer to this place as the Torpedo, but it is actually the Thorpedo, based on the name of the town. OK then, safe travels!

We stopped here on our way back from MN after Thanksgiving. My girlfriend had gone here about twenty plus years ago.We each had a sandwich with soup and a salad. Our sandwiches were delicious and the fries were REALLY good! I could have eaten a basket of them. If I lived in the area and had a hankering especially for fries this would be the spot! Our soup was great too.The waitresses were very attentive and we were really taken care of. It is a quaint family restaurant with good vibes. We will definitely go again and recommend this place. I can see why it has been around for so long!Thanks

We have always loved this place and stop for food when on Juw 39.Never again. Hot roast beef which we've always claimed was best is not made the same way. Mashed potato very hard - obviously they were reheated. The beef was not from a slow cooked chuck roast as in past. Hard rubbery no flavor. I asked woman (owner?) and she said it's not changed in 15 years. She basically called me a liar. I didn't argue, no point.Just done with Thorpedo in Thorp WI.

love the food here , service is awesome second to none and the owner is really friendly , he will come and talk with you . menu is large with a bakery with lots of pie .

My fiance and I stopped here on our road trip due to the raving reviews on yelp. Atmosphere: Small parking lot. The floor was filthy. The table was sticky and they did not have a lot of the tables cleared off after customers left. You seat yourself.Service: I don't know who our server was. We had a person seat us and ask us for our drinks, a person bring the drinks and take the order, and then a different person bring the food and the check. It took us longer to get the check than the entire experience. None of the wait staff smiled or seemed to be enjoying life whatsoever. Drinks: My fiance's sprite was the best part of the meal. My coffee was less than lukewarm and I was never asked if I wanted a refill (granted I'm not sure I would have wanted one if it was as cold as the first cup).Food: My fiance got the half order of biscuits and gravy. I ordered the eggs benedict. When I was asked how I would like my eggs, I should have changed my ordered. Eggs benedict comes with poached eggs.....duh. I said over easy so they didn't have a panic attack. Everything was brought to the table in 10 minutes, which is fast, but it was all cold? The only thing warm on my plate was the eggs. The bacon was cold like it had been sitting forever and was chewy vs. crispy. The hollandaise sauce had no flavor and the hashbrowns were stone cold. The gravy for the biscuits was disgusting. It was cold and congealed and had no seasoning, it tasted like it was out of a can. I don't know how or why this place has such high reviews, but I would rather have ate McDonalds, the food and coffee would have at least been hot and it would have been cheaper.

I would have given five stars, but for the location. I know it's the smell of money; but the cow pasture it's located by did nothing for my appetite. The cheese steak and fries were both top notch. The menu is filled with great comfort food, and the service is terrific!

I had a perfect prime rib (not on the menu!) And the rest of the meal was delicious. It's hard to find quality food when on the road, but this was worth the stop.

The food was amazing, perfectly seasoned cheesy broccoli soup and spaghetti. Many options to choose from and it is very comforting place. Also my sister and mom got all of their food also it was very delicious for them too. Great service, the waitresses were very friendly. The ambiance of the restaurant is very comfortable and has a lot of cool decorations also. Many seating options to choose from, especially when it is not that busy.

Our great server recommended their fried chicken and homemade mashed potatoes with gravy have to say it was the best I have ever had (now live in the South).
