The food & service is amazing especially during weekdays 2-5pm!! The appies are half price!! You can't go wrong!!!! They are very well portioned & delicious!!! The ambience today is beautiful (Valentines Day)!!!!

I would never normally order chicken strips but a friend said I had to try them. It's an app so we ordered them and they are amazing! Huge! Enough for two people for a meal and battered in a crunchy crust. The drinks come out slow but all the food is really good. My burger was very good and the steak bite app was also amazing.

A nice little establishment on the bottom floor of a historic hotel. An antiquish setting. Service is fairly good. The food is hit or miss. The steak tips are fantastic as they come with a very tasty mushrooms sauce. Oh, goodness were they good. I actually had them for dessert! Seems to be a bit overpriced for what you get, but price isn't too big of an issue if the good is good. And, with the economy the way it is right now, everything seems to be more expensive.

Date night with the wife and recommended by a friend. The service was excellent. The waitress was knowledgeable and willing to make wonderful recommendations. We went with everything she suggested and had a tremendous evening. The steaks were excellently flavored and cooked exactly like we ask. The shrimp appetizer was perfectly seasoned and the desert was delightful. It's an old style decor, think fancy 1880's, which stayed true to form if you like that kind of thing. Food, atmosphere and service - 5 star. We will be back

We like going to the Thayer. The food is good and the place has a cool retro feel. This time we were in a little back room that was beastly hot! Everyone had sweat dripping from their faces including our server. That was a bit of a disappointment, but it won't stop us from going back. I had the Salmon Oscar and it was very tasty!!

We have frequented this restaurant multiple times and my wife and I have ordered the exact same dish every time. The food quality and portion sizes have varied each time with this last visit literally half the size between the three dishes we were served. It's like buying a lottery ticket and hoping it's "normal portion size day", lol. If you want to take your chances, this is the place for you. Good luck, you're going to need it!

WORST SERVICE EVER!! AWFUL FOOD. Brand new 17 year old waitress had no idea what she was doing! We went with neighbors-had a band outside and was a beautiful Friday night! It was a summer Friday so why did they have an inexperienced girl outside that didn't know what she was doing? Took 2 hours to get our food (just 4 of us). UGH!! Walleye-no flavor. Sticky garlic mashed potatoes-a big pile of goo! Yuk. Everyone around us that came after us were getting served before us. The bills were messed up-ours on theirs, vise versa. Up charge for (hubby ordered) 'au gratin potatoes' which were under cooked cubed potatoes with melted cheese drizzled over them. Also terrible. My 2 drinks were both wrong. No one fixed them after I said I got the wrong drink. Hubby had Jack & Diet Coke, he said tasted like Jack & water. No apologies- we didn't have the checks fixed cuz figured it would be 1/2 hour or more! Very unfortunate as I will never go there again! (And we live nearby)

Server was very friendly and nice but, other than service, our experience was underwhelming. Walleye was full of bones, top sirloin was tough and hard to chew, garden salad is not included without an extra charge.I find it interesting that this place features a historic style, demonstrating a warm "European" feel with decor, and yet they played iHeart radio with 70's rock music throughout our dinner. It was so loud that we discreetly unplugged what we thought was a speaker next to us.

Food and patio are top notch!! Multiple dishes in our group of 4 and no on was disappointed!

This is unfortunately not a great review ! Just because you have an only place to sleep inside a building does not give you the right to be unwelcoming and definitely not friendly !We did arrive at early 4pm their check in time !!The entire staff was frazzled. Trying to play catch up from busy Father's Day meals to begin a promising dinner evening ! Initially we gave them the benefit of doubt. Busy and excuses! But learning they own other restaurants they should have performed with skill and grace.
