The Tap House West End

As always The Tap House never fails to impress.This is a tried and true restaurant in Rochester.The service is friendly and efficient, the food is always good, and of course their array of tap beer to choose from is unlike any other restaurant in town.Can't go wrong here.

We had lunch here last time we were in Rochester. We ordered brunch drinks, as well as the blackened salmon tacos, the Asian chicken salad, and a burger. It's pretty unusual for our kids to eat all of their food, but apparently the burger was really good and they loved the fresh fruit side. My Asian chicken salad was pretty good, but I wished that they had put the chicken off to the side so that it didn't cover the entire thing in Korean barbecue sauce. I would've preferred the salad dressing on the vegetables. Unfortunately, the salmon tacos were so spicy that my SO wasn't able to eat them. The server noticed and ended up being so sweet about it and took them off the bill. Thankfully, he was so full on tortilla chips and queso that he didn't leave hungry. Overall, the service is great here and we've been back a couple times since and they continue to impress.

Great service, phenomenal food, huge tap list--this place really has it all. We stopped in a little after 4pm on a Thursday. We were seated right away in a lovely booth that had a private vibe but still gave us a view of other tables and the bar. Alayna was our server, and she did a great job taking care of us during our visit!Now, the food. We made the wonderful mistake of ordering two appetizers, the cheese curds and the tots. The portions were HUGE yet the food was oh so good. We ended up taking half the tots home. We also ordered drinks. My husband tried a few beers while I had a delicious Blake's cider. I was majorly impressed that they had 100 brews on tap. The details on the menu were great, too--we love knowing where things are made.Our main dishes were fantastic. Again, HUGE. Love the generous portions. I had the triple berry summer salad while my husband built his own burger with pepper jack, bacon, and jalapenos. Great stuff all around. We were asked if we wanted dessert, and I had to laugh. We were so very full. Maybe on another visit, we can try the chocolate cake that was on the menu.

Have been here a few times and honestly? Nothing really all that special. The one bright spot on the menu is the blackened salmon tacos. The burgers are mediocre- not terrible, but nothing that really sets them apart from anywhere else. They don't have sweet potato fries (until May 1- not sure if just out or a seasonal item). The service is ok. The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired though. The space is beautiful, but with it so open it's incredibly loud- difficult to even hear the people at my own table. Don't think I'll rush back anytime soon.

Nothing special based on service. Food was above average at a typical sports bar level, had a simple order of shrimp tacos (good flavor) and (somewhat soggy) sweet potato fries with a couple of local beers. They have 100 beers on their list and the biggest item that moved me down to 3 star was that our server didn't know much about beer. If your going to advertise as a tap house, with 100 beers, many of them unique, you need servers who know and like beer. I would go back to this restaurant as prices were fair and it was ok, but the service was meh and I think the owners should consider that sometimes less is more. Sorry no food photos but hey, Im sure you have seen tacos and fries.

Tap House is one of those places we frequent every ~5-6 months. There's always a time where we're looking to just take a break from our usual eats and go from some good ol' American food. Nothing is better than a nice burger and fries and this place does a good job with its huge portions and tasty burgers. Ordered- La Patrona Burger (4/5). Wicked ingredients but it worked. The burger comes with guac, jalapenos, cheese, and topped with some chipotle BBQ Mayo. - Crispy Chicken Bacon Ranch (3.5). Pretty standard sandwich. Nothing too rave much about. The tator tots that came with it was really good though - very crispy! If you're ever shopping at Costco or around the area, this is a good place for a quick, tasty (and heavy) lunch.

We were in Rochester to celebrate my fathers in laws birthday and we wanted a fun place that we hadn't been.I was surprised that pub food and Mexican were both features on the menu so we decided to each try different options.1. Kids meals are great for value and a lot of food2. Mexican in MN continues to be very different than the west coast. Shrimp tacos and taco salad were good, just a little too sauced and out of balance from what you would expect for a craft eatery.3. The burgers and fries were the best item ordered on the table and I would return for those and the great selection of beers on tap!

The service was great--our waiter did an excellent job and was very attentive. However, the food was disappointing. I ordered the sourdough burger, which sounded promising, but it was incredibly bland. It didn't seem like they used even basic seasonings like salt and pepper, let alone anything else. A little paprika, garlic powder, or additional seasoning would have made a world of difference

New menu item for summer! A Po Boy! They added a few new items but I couldn't get past this, so I went for it. Sorry, didn't take the time to get a picture, it just looked too good, and didn't disappoint. A hoagie bun with arugula, tomato slices, a generous portion of delicious batter fried shrimp topped with a house made sauce that they could bottle and make a lot of $$. Loved it!

Food was average at best. They added a 25% gratuity because we had over 8 in our group - it says that nowhere on the menu and the server didn't mention it up front. They also tacked on a $9.80 surcharge fee that had no explanation. Also wanted to charge us a per / person cake fee to have birthday cupcakes. The manager just stated "it's policy" in a very rude manner. So many better options - won't be returning.
