The Portage

Vanilla porter. Sago drink. Double burger. Honey bbq & terriaki wings. Bandy old fashioneds. 5 for atmosphere. 3 for food. Very average. The chicken wings were very below average, very fatty and greasy. I wouldn't get them again. I would come back for cocktails. I don't know if I would come for food again.

Semi local speaking here. Excellent staff who are friendly and attentive. Place is very clean. We have not eaten here yet, but meals look fantastic. Drinks are fairly priced. Our #1 turn off is the "service fee" added onto drinks. Watch your receipts. We ended up double tipping which is a huge turn off for us and other locals. The staff certainly deserve tips, but buyer beware. Hence the 3 stars. This will not be a regular stop for us, we will take visitors if there is a band.

Food was good and facility looks great. Service was okay but we were charged more than the menu showed and you scan for a menu so it wasn't out of print. Will probably try it once more and see how it goes

This new place has a great bar but they also have tasty bar food. We stopped by for Saturday brunch. Everyone was very welcoming and gracious. Our chilaquiles were yummy. We chose to eat on the patio which is surrounded by a very pleasant green space.

Great food and weekly specials and great drinks/bar, have good spirits/bourbon and tequila , options.

Beware of the extra "tax" charge. stopped in for a quick drink and an appetizer of chips and dip. they added a $14 extra charge. it showed up on our bill as "tax". I asked the bartender what the tax rate was and he said it wasn't really a tax. it was an added surcharge because certain items are hard to get in Cable, such as avocados. My reply was, we didn't order anything with avocados. We paid. We did not tip. We left and won't be back. The establishment out and out lied and had no intention of informing us of this extra charge in the hopes that we simply didn't notice it. Again, BEWARE! for the record, the surcharge was higher than the cost of our appetizer. I'll give my money to an honest business. oh and the bartender told us that the owner of the place is filthy rich (his words) and doesn't care what he charges because he doesn't need the money. Poor business ethics if you ask me.

Great spot to grab a drink/dinner in Cable. I always get the cobb salad with chicken. great size and they are not skimpy on the fixins. great drink prices with good pours as well does not hurt. Angie is awesome as well!

I had a lovely experience at this restaurant. The vibes are great, the food is made fresh and is delicious. I had the Green Goddess Cobb Salad. Had the pleasure of meeting the owners too - very nice people! I'll be back for sure. (Tip: walk across the lawn to Tilly's Pies for dessert)

Had a really great lunch at The Portage after some XC skiing today.Real friendly service and welcoming vibe. The homemade soup of the day was great. Excellent no frills burger and the Cobb salad was very good as well.Nice craft beer list and other drink options make The Portage a great stop. We'll have to come back in the summer to check out some interesting looking patio and fire pit options.

Great food and drinks but the only restaurant I have ever been to that charges a service charge of 18 percent and does not tell you. Meanwhile they ask for tips on top of that. Unethical at best.
