The Lumberyard Pub

What can I say about the lumberyard pub? Other than that? It is a must visit if you're in the Afton area! First you enter into Afton, which is one of the sweetest Eastside Minnesota towns you'll ever find! The town is loaded with fun shops, ice cream shop, etc. in the midst of this quaint tone off the St. Croix, you have the lumberyard pub which is waiting for you to step inside!Most people walk in through the backyard patio and make the way right into the bar, which is separated by movable garage doors that are always open and inviting for you to come in and have food, a beer and make memories with the people you're with! I ordered the wings and I was blown away! This little pub does not mess around when it comes to wings because these were the best wings I've ever had! I ordered the boneless wings because I don't like picking through the bones, but I did not expect these boneless wings to be pure white hole chicken breast that they Bread, spice and make all on their own! This is no frozen chicken tenders from a box... These are handmade, hand rolled, hand, breaded, and prepared perfectly for you! Well, these are the only things I've had here, I won't probably not have anything else as these wings are perfect on a spring summer or fall night next to the fire, listening to live music or playing cornhole in the patio area of this hidden gem!Get yourself to lumberyard pub and not to mention, the staff is outstanding! I asked one of the staff members what should I get and she enthusiastically said the food here is incredible And she wasn't wrong! Not to mention, the bartender was an outstanding gentleman who took pride and his work, made me feel like I was his best friend and gave me outstanding service!Lumberyard pub you have my heart!!

I think the lumberyard pub deserves a better rating on Yelp. We stopped by because of Afton's strawberry festival. The weather is hot and the patio is nicely shaders we were sitting right away and got sit in front of the lawn game area and the live music. The food was Nicely presented l. We shared a Chicago style dog, chicken salad. My parents ordered pub burger and egg salad sandwiches. They liked it. We enjoyed the onion rings. The kids ordered cheese quesadillas and chicken fingers. It's a typical pub food, but it was nicer than all the reviews I saw on Yelp and was surprised to read theirs reviews. The server did forget my lemonade and wish they could come more frequent to refill my water. It is a hot day, so I did drink a lot. Hence taking off one star.

Food was great! Others had Bloody Mary and said they were really good too. Love the ambiance of this place! Ella was so sweet and took good care of us. We'll definitely be back! Great time at this joint.

Oh what a mess. The food is simply awful. Overpriced. Tasteless and cold. You have to serve yourself at a side window, get your own water and then get an 18% automatic tip added to help with "competitive wages". I'm all for better wages but when you charge $18.00 for a tiny burger you should have some profit in there to share with your staff, the ones that are really doing the work. Fries cost more of course... Newsflash, if you serve decent food at a fair price you will retain your staff and they will be tipped nicely. And you minimize your well executed plan to cater to one and done customers as well. The whiskey bar has an open garage door style wall. Could be great, it's not! It's really fun at night when it's fully lit up and all the mosquitos come in to feed on the patrons. There are two fluorescent coolers lighting up the whiskey bar as well. Zero mood setting ambiance going on. Looks junky. How easy would it be to put cozy seats in there, dim the lights and heaven forbid light a fire outside. It's not what you'd expect a "whiskey bar" to be. Just another room lit up like a runway. Sad.Clearly poorly managed, again....and this round of owners will never survive. I'm a local, and the town's talking, trust me. We so want this place to be successful but it will fail at years end. This place features HOTDOGS on their menu, yes, features them as it's some kind of culinary treat! They have several versions of hotdogs too. $15.00 for a hotdog. Wish I was kidding. Appetizers are $18 - $20, that's entrée pricing. Kitchen is outdated and they have not invested in having a facility where they can serve the people that show up in a timely manner. Your food will be cold. Pretending you can serve real food has to stop. Invest in a full service kitchen so it aligns with the prices and quality of food that you deceiving people into thinking that's what they'll get. I think they are already on their third cook this summer. Servers come and go like the breeze. Do yourself a favor and drive past this place as fast as you can! Used to be much better. This place is a mess. Will go back and try it again with next years new owners.

ATM is always out of cash, foods ok, out of Mich golden for over 2 weeks, dirty restrooms , poor management.

Food was okay, it's different in these times, and it was our first time so really this comment is about the practices rather than the food. We enjoyed our lunch and happened to arrive at a busy time so there was a normal wait time. However, we were a bit disappointed to see the waitress wearing her mask without her nose covered. And not only that, but she did offer a straw to my fiancé, but grabbed it with bare hands in the area where he would have put his lips. I understand that the risks and perception is much more relaxed in these rural areas, and is not at all like Miami, which is where we are from, but as a courtesy to others, especially in a food establishment, please be mindful and more respectful regarding CDC guides. We were sad to see this was not enforced during our stay.

Went in with my friend and our two kids for early lunch after gathering firewood, and watching football. Burgers are amazing. They were very great with the kids.

Food is good, staff is always nice, clean atmosphere.... Always has live music on the patio, fun yard games, you can bring your dog- All around good atmosphere!

In general I like this place. We ordered a supreme pizza during happy hour for $13.99. It's nothing more than a boughten frozen pizza. They have a 2 for 1 happy hour on domestic drafts. Drafts normally are $6 based upon $30 charge on bill for 5 beers however they only gave me $10 off for the happy hour discount. The bartender did correct it but customers should not need to bring up this issue. Also be aware that the place also adds a 3.75% Health and Wellness fee too.Based upon over priced drinks and additional fees I will not frequent this restaurant in the future.
