The Golden Chipmunk

One of the best bars in the North Woods! My friends and I come here every year and post up at the bar with Mark the owner serving us ice cold New Glarus beers. Has a great atmosphere and the food is good too! Love the back deck that has great views of Cranberry Lake!

This is the place to be if you're in the area. My parents have a cabin on the lake and if we want good food, we always go here. When we came up snowmobiling a couple of weeks ago we came here for drinks. Their drinks are always cheap and plentiful. They were also doing a meat raffle which was fun as well. Go! You will love the food, drinks, and view.

While listed as a hotel, I ate at the bar/restaurant. They do have an RV campground on the lake. Had the ribs, split a half rack with my mate. Yum. Moist with tasty. The waitress Pam, was helpful and fun - the kind with whom you'd want to go for a drink. If you're looking for a little 'Wisconsin Pub' this is it.

This is just the kind of tavern you want to visit when hanging out "at the lake." Sit down at the bar and look out the window--check out the fantastic view! Want a beer? They've got almost every New Glarus product available. Want a cocktail? Expect a generous pour. Food is good if you keep to the bar basics: my BBQ ribs were only OK, but my burger was quite good. Don't forget the waffle fries. Staff and customers are friendly. Free wi-fi to boot! Well worth a visit.

We felt like the servers were overwhelmed AND we were talking to each other and told we were "too loud" by the owner. Food is fine but I recommend The View Point over this place.

So I went there tonight for the ribs I had them before and they are very good.I ordered it on the phone she said it would be ready in 20 minutes and I walk in and it was ready.They said to get the potatoe salad and said it was good its alot better than good its awesome.The bun was like fresh today.Now on to the ribs just like I remember they were awesome the meat was falling off the bone.The sauce was also very good.

Will not go back. Food was over priced and small portions. Staff acted as if we were bothering them having to serve us. No public access to the lake.

Order the philly cheese and you will NOT be disappointed: piles of tasty beef, melty cheese over the cooked just right onions. The best philly I've ever had...okay I haven't been to Philadelphia for one but still...it's a huge sandwich so I don't order the fries as that makes too much food.The pepper burger is a scrumptious combo of peppers (not too hot/not too sweet) in perfectly cooked burger.New to the Chipmunk? The sign behind the bar spells out all the specialty beers (including a delightful misspelling of Leinenkugel that never gets fixed), there are four beers on tap or you can just gaze into the beer case looking for what you want.Sit at a table and you'll have a friendly waitress or sit at the bar and for more company. It's like any bar where everyone turns and looks but at this bar everyone is ready to visit if you are.

The Golden Chipmunk Bar & Grill is wonderful. The food is fabulous and plentiful. Everything I've tried (ribs, chicken, fish, burgers, and my favorite - Philly Steak sandwich) has been great. The staff is friendly, and very good at their jobs - even though we like to give them a hard time once in a while. The view of Cranberry Lake from the bar, or back deck, is stunning. Don't forget to stop in on the 1st & 3rd Saturday's of each month for the Meat Raffle from 2-4pm. Looking forward to stopping in at Chipmunk again soon!David V. / St. Louis Park, MN
