Showed up at this café on a Monday morning. Super surprised to find the place packed (reservations highly recommended!). Even without a reservation, we were seated in less than ten (10) minutes.Only a short drive from downtown Saint Paul, It's in a cute area where there are many restaurants. Street parking only. Entrance is through the adjacent floral shop, which gives you a chance to look around a bit while you're waiting. We were pleasantly greeted and offered a table in the dining room room. Outdoor café tables are available, weather and staff permitting. I really liked their menu with plenty of variety for all tastes. A lot of specials available. Excellent coffee and wonderful food. I would have to say that their savory omelette was one of the more memorable breakfasts I've had in years, truly made me think of a European breakfast/lunch experience. generous portions at reasonable prices along with great service adds up to a restaurant that is very popular.Definitely would return to this location to try more items on the menu. Check it out and enjoy the experience.

Tried The French Hen for a weekday brunch date with my husband and the food was good, the mimosas tasted great, and you can tell it's a loved local spot.I ordered the Quiche Lorraine and it was delicious, but only one serving, so if you're hungry I'd recommend getting some sides to make it a more complete meal.Husband absolutely loved his Catfish Benedict and proclaimed that the collard greens were the best he's had to date.

FAMILIES BEWAREWe had 4 adults and our 6 month old (who doesn't even eat food.)They added a 20% gratuity because they considered us a party of 5 even though our son is a baby and wasn't eating. On top of THAT there is a 5% health and wellness charge that shouldn't exist or at least be optional. So we were FORCED into a 25% tip for just ok service overpriced food. When we brought it up with two different staff members they didn't care at all. We have literally never experienced that before. The fact that we were charged for our baby is OUTRAGEOUS . Speaking as a restaurant owner myself, charging for babies and having wellness charges, are horrendous business practices that deceive and screw over the consumer.Don't go here!

Myself and friends visited The French Hen a few mornings ago. It wasn't jammed but nicely busy. The ordering didn't go well, one of us didn't receive her order & had to wait. By then our food was gone. Food was good - mistakes happen. Kind of jammed up our next activity.

We stopped here for lunch while running errands in St.Paul and were not disappointed. The restaurant & atmosphere was cozy and contemporary. Our server was knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. The food itself was amazing. My wife ordered the breakfast special which was a Denver omelette. They had run out of one of the ingredients for the omelette, but were happy to add another ingredient of her choice with no additional cost. Upon a recommendation from our server I ordered the Binh Mi Benedict. Which consisted of soy glazed local pork, poached eggs, fresh vegetable relish, cilantro, sriracha hollandaise, on top of Trung Nam French bread. I was a little leery ordering this unique version of eggs Benedict , but I was not disappointed. In fact, I found a new favorite. If you are a fan of eggs benedict you have to try this. I cannot recommend it more. If you are in St. Paul and are looking for a great place to eat, you have to try the French Hen.

Great place to grab breakfast but be prepared for waiting, it was very busy. Had a celebrity sighting which was fun (Brooklyn 99 actor). The food was good, but I didn't think it was great enough for five stars.Located next to a plant shop so you can browse while you wait for a table. It was loud inside due to all the people but overall a very home/local feel to the place.

The menu is nice sized and we ordered 2 items to share between the two of us. Savory crepe and catfish Benedict. The crepes were delish, I loved the steamed broccoli in the crepe. The mushroom was chewy and yummy. We added bacon to the crepe which creates a nice crunch. The catfish Benedict is also a good creation. Didn't expect the side dish of veggies but they were very good to taste. We also ordered their chai latte and the temperature of the drink is just warm enough to enjoy. The temperature was too friendly so it was gone within the first 3 mins when it arrives We went to the French Hen right before we welcomed our third child home. We had a wonderful date time before going to the hospital and absorbed a moment of peacefulness for ourselves. The restaurant was surrounded by green leaves and it makes us appreciate more of our time together.

French Hen Cafe has some great brunch options with good sized portions. Their biscuits and gravy were excellent! The cheddar chive biscuit itself was nice and flaky and I love a flavored biscuit instead of a regular one. The gravy was great and had a bit of spice to it. They have cool food and drink specials that I will definitely have to try next time. This spot is next to a really cute plant store, which is actually where you enter from!
