The Boulevard

My family goes to Hayward each July 4, and while we have our favorites in town to eat at each summer, I always like to try something new. So my family asked me to pick a new-to-us spot. I chose The Boulevard after looking at the reviews. But overall, it was a meh experience unfortunately. I got a reservation for our large family group, and our table was waiting for us when we arrived. Besides us there were just a few more parties dining in. But while we were seated quickly, out experience then went downhill. The biggest problem: We had to wait nearly 90 minutes to get our entrees. We had to ask a few times what the hold-up was, and the owner (I think) ended up providing free desserts for the table to compensate. This helped, but still ... 90 minutes. And our entrees were a bit hit or miss. I got the shrimp alfredo, which didn't have much flavor. A couple of our other entrees were cold. My husband's pork chop was delicious, though, he said. It overall felt like The Boulevard didn't know what it wanted to be -- either more high-end with its entrees and prices or casual. I would be interested in trying it again, but hopefully our dinner won't take as long as it did on our first visit.

Cozy spot with friendly staff. Menu looks good with lots of choices for everyone. We will be back for food next time.

The boulevard food is excellent great ribs great steaks and great pork chops. They have a great Caesar salad. I could go on and on, but you have to try it yourself. The owner and staff are friendly and truly make you feel welcome. I would highly recommend anyone to try it.

Not impressed. Reading the past reviews I noticed the owner or whomever responded to a negative review very similar to mine saying to the person "looks like you are too good for us as the plastic bag of salad dressing bothers you" what business owner writes this? Get some business and customer relation courses at a local collage is my advise to you. I'm going to tell you that yes you are in the rustic north woods but if you're going to charge prices like a big city then act like it at least with your presentation. I'm going to start with the positives: Only one, my husband's steak was very good. Walked in, it's a bar with some tables so when you walk in everyone that is sitting at the bar turns around. We paid $100.00 and tipped $20.00 so total $120.00. My husband ordered a drink it was watered down, steak (very good) rice was very mediocre, bun like 1 bun not a basket of bread 1 bun, soup was not good. I ordered Nut Crusted Walleye very bland, the waitress said I get steamed vegetables ( I got soggy broccoli that was falling apart) the best is the salad lol: The salad comes like from a bag from a store in a plastic bowl with a packet of dressing (could have been touched without gloves, dropped on the floor) slapped inside the bowl). We had our water served in plastic cups. I'm sorry but for $100.00 please have some presentation at least and not to mention better tasting food. We went to Shell Lake and paid $37.00 for dinner that had flavor and yes the restaurant had plastic glasses but the food was great. We were very disappointed.

Service was excellent!!!!! Food was cold! ordered shrimp alfredo and had only 5 (small to medium) shrimp. Was very disappointed. I've had better food at chain restaurants, sad because there pictures looked so good. Everything else was fine!!!!

Service was brusque and food was plentiful but poorly prepared and unattractive. Steamed broccoli and overcooked pasta.

Server and bartender very kind. Great menu selection. Drinks and salad served quickly. Main course took almost an hour to be served. All we would have liked was a quick explanation or comment: "sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience " Nothing was mentioned on our long wait. Food was ok Filet was cooked well Baked walleye was goodShrimp Alfredo delicious Baked potato's no taste

One of the best cooks in the area works here. A well-run, clean, appealing place to eat! My husband and I along with friends and family have eaten here many times and have enjoyed every meal we've tried. Good service and great food!

The food was good and service was ok. A fun place the ribs are good and the service was great. Nice clean place

Great food and great people! The lunch menu is more of a typical bar food. The dinner menu has an excellent chef and great food. We've had the Filet Mignon and it is excellent!
