Was in town this last weekend from Nashville visiting friends who brought me to this cool gem !! Small, intimate club that's in the lower level of a larger theater....(those are my fave!)....Like seeing a live "Who's Line is it Anyways"!! Such a cool vibe with above the bar talent!! Easily this show could've been on Broadway or Vegas or even home in Nashville... and to hear it had been running for multiple decades showed how cool and fresh they've kept it....Steve Ray himself was there hosting it!! Was so cool! It's a dinner theater and dinner was ok w/ some flavor, but the service was off the chart....Our server "Rochelle" shot us a funny line and it was used in a skit...I'd definitely recommend this show!! Stevie has a cool vibe and the talent he has working with him tells me he's kept taking care of BOTH of his guests his top priority!!Thanks 4 The Laughs Ya'all!!TK

Members of our family and friends attended the performance of Stevie Ray's Improvisational Theater last night. On the positive side the meals were excellent from the standpoint of taste, texture and level of doneness. Also, though short of staff, the staff did a good job in getting the food items on and off the table. Physically, the area is not large so seeing the performance was fairly easy though there are a couple of small posts that might be bothersome to some. There was also good sound reduction from an adjacent room used for weddings, etc. The comfort of the chairs was ok though it was good that there is an intermission at the one hour point. On the negative side, sitting to the right of the stage puts table 160 (our table)a few feet from the piano and that was an issue as to the sound level. I finally stuffed some Kleenex in my right ear to lessen the sound. As for the performance, the first half was delightful but, there was a struggle in the second half to meet the same level of humor. We felt afterwards that we should have left after the first half especially given the fact that In poor taste, the actors chose to belittle Jesus Christ in the final skit. Given the ad lib format of the show, when the actor called out for the name of a "American icon" he should never have accepted that call out and chosen another.(I can't help but wonder if they would have disparaged Mohammad or any other important religious faith figure). One would think that the director and actors would be aware that in today's world there are some subjects that individuals find offensive or angering such as politics and religion and be best avoided but, if they choose to do so the general public should be made aware of this before ticket purchase, then as in our case we would not have attended the performance.

I've taken Beginners improv and intermediate improv at Stevie Rays. I had a ton of fun and learned a lot. I'm very funny now. Jon Fogel taught the class. He was informative and very supportive. I'd encourage anyone thinking about coming out and taking a class to do so. It was a great experience.

My wife took myself a small group of friends here for my birthday. The atmosphere is a lot of fun not just in the actual theater area but the whole building. We had the meal with the show the food was delicious, I had the chicken and it was tender and the hollandaise sauce was wonderful. Most others had the steak and they all enjoyed theirs. The drinks were well priced and the wait staff was a lot of fun and personable. The show itself was a blast, it seemed to be about half capacity but the host gets the crowd involved early on before the show starts asking where people are from and that sort of thing. It was an absolute pleasure and being improv I would love to go back and watch it again because it could change every time.

Located in the basement of the Chanhassen Dinner Theatres, this is a fun place to go and spend a Friday or Saturday night out. Improv group really enjoys what they do and the audience participation is really exciting, which is why I can believe it is not the same show twice. Since we were visiting f err on out of town, we decided to do the dinner and show package. The dinner fare was good for a dinner-theatre type of establishment and the service we really good to. I also like that they train young and upcoming talent with workshops. I would definitely come back here if back in the MSP area and wanted to spend a night out and have a few laughs.

Mediocre improv and ridiculous policies! We had 2 free tickets, but had to give a credit card number when reserving seats. My girlfriend got sick a couple days before the show, so I called to reschedule. First, she had to check with her manager, because they have a 72-hour window before the show where you can't cancel/reschedule. Then, after getting an exception, they wanted to charge $10 -- just to change the date for our (free) tickets. Frustrated, I said to forget it -- leave the existing reservation and we probably just won't go. A couple minutes later I got a call back warning me that if we didn't show up, we'd be charged $62. *For not using free tickets!* This is quite a racket -- do not give these people your credit card number!
