I wish I could have stayed for the whole summer! From the moment I arrived for my 3 night stay in late May I was in awe of this North Woods treasure. The history, the look, the feel, the attention to detail and the incredible amenities are all just accents to the welcoming "human touch" provided by Andrew and Caroline. Booking was easy and seamless, and Andrew (who also offers a fishing guide service) was extremely personable and helpful. He also makes a helluva country breakfast! I stayed in the Moody's Camp suite, which I highly recommend for summer stays as it has a balcony overlooking the lake. The bed was comfortable and the jacuzzi tub was perfect. I also used the sauna several times and played some pool in the newly renovated lower common area. On my last night I lit candles and did some work on my laptop while sitting on one of the comfy couches on the main level. Did I mention the lake views and access? I could go on and on and on. This place is simply INCREDIBLE. I can not wait to visit again.

Spider Lake Lodge is a wonderful place for a getaway! The lodge is quite warm and cozy and it feels like a spot far removed from everyday life. The entire place, including our comfortable room, is incredibly decorated with woodsy mementos that help the lodge to feel very authentic. The hosts are incredibly friendly and accommodating - they saw to our every need while also giving us plenty of space. The breakfast each morning was delicious and the perfect way to start the day.The weekend we stayed up north was a bit rainy and we spent a very pleasant afternoon reading in front of the main fireplace. It even dried up a bit on the morning of our departure and we took the lodge's canoe out for a beautiful paddle on Spider Lake. It was a fantastic weekend! We could see this being a perfect spot for a weekend, no matter the season or occasion.

Felt like a second home! This is the second time I've stayed at Spider Lake Lodge in October and hope to continue the tradition every Fall. Last year and again this year, I basically had the lodge to myself for the majority of my stay. Delise the hostess is a gem, makes fabulous breakfasts and is always incredibly accommodating! I stayed in the Hemingway Room both times and it's perfect, couldn't ask for a nicer experience. I spent a lot of time in the great room in front of the fire in the evenings. For anyone considering a stay here who loves history and likes to read, I'd suggest "Return to Wake Robin" by Marnie O. Mamminga, she and her family spent many summers at the lodge and after spending time here you can understand and appreciate how special this place was to her family. My best friend and his wife own a home just down the hill and around the corner from the lodge. A few years ago I read the book at their home and last year one rainy afternoon sitting in the great room with a fire roaring, reading the book again (the lodge has a signed copy) and it really brought the book to life for me! Don't let the fact that they only serve breakfast deter you from staying, it's always delicious and there are a multitude of dining options within easy distance of the lodge not to mention that I had full access to use the kitchen if I wished. I can't say enough about the experience, I'm already looking forward to next Fall!

A Delight to Every Sense. We visited Spider Lake Lodge a few weeks ago for a quick, snowy weekend getaway. And what a getaway it was! Being the only guests to stay at the lodge in that span of time, we were able to enjoy all of the amenities without a COVID worry in our minds. Caroline, the host, was super helpful and cordial, providing us with everything from places to eat to paths to hike. That is all. Stay at this place.

I've been to Spider Lake Lodge several times, and have never been disappointed! I'm continually impressed with the attention to detail there, both in the way the lodge is so warmly furnished, the breakfast service (we're not talking continental breakfast here!), and the small touches which make each guest room a retreat wtihin themselves. When one enters the great gathering rooms with those inviting fireplaces and historic memorabelia, I am reminded of the lodge's philosophy... 'Here There Is No Time'. It's true, and whenever I need to get away from the chatter of everday life, I know where to escape for a few days. One memorable night walking a ways out on the ice with the full moon making everything as bright as daytime, I could feel the presence of an era gone by. The only noise we could hear was the shifting of the ice...pretty magical. Awesome!!!!! Thanks Jim, we'll be back!!

I never write reviews. And I really never write reviews 5 months after a stay. But our stay at Spider Lake Lodge was unforgettable so I felt the need to write about it. We usually rent an entire home for our family vacations but this year I was so intrigued by Spider Lake Lodge that we decided to rent the entire Lodge for our stay in July. The lodge is a perfect blend of the creature comforts and the vintage lake lodge experience we were looking for. And we were so well cared for by Andrew & Caroline. They were available when we needed them but not hovering about when we didn't. And, the highlight of our trip which our family talks about still, was Andrew's shore lunch. The setting was magical on a private island on Spider Lake. Before we arrived Andrew had setup the island with lounge chairs so we could sit and dangle our feet in the lake, fishing poles for those who wanted to fish and a path from one end of the island to the other for the kids to go exploring. While we fished/dangled and explored Andrew went to work setting up a fire to prepare our lunch. We had salmon Andrew had caught in Lake Superior with sides of baked beans and slaw. I am not kidding when I say this was the best salmon we haver ever eaten. And the most special experience we have ever had on a vacation. Spider Lake Lodge is a unique and special place and Andrew and Caroline are special hosts. We will be back!

An excellent stay! The lodge is warm and peaceful and great for a long weekend away. We enjoyed the view of the lake, and there were lots of comfortable chairs in front of the fireplaces. The owners were very nice and helped us with some directions to Copper Falls for some sightseeing. There was good wireless internet and the room was clean. Our breakfast was excellent, and the owners also made some cookies and snacks during the day. Would highly recommend the lodge and look forward to staying again soon!
