This is a hidden gem in the skyway that does get good business. It is a quintessential quick Italian place....no way should you go to Subway (boring) or Arby's (still hungry) or other bland chains when you can get real Italian food here. They have a great Chicago beef sandwich - better than Giordano's. The meatballs are amazing, the portions of salad and pasta generous and include a free bread stick. They have daily specials and on Monday, a great deal on salads (greek, antipasti, caesar, etc). It's a bit "old school" in the decor but feels authentic, lasting, and who cares when the food is good and a value.Looks like a mom and son operated joint. Run don't walk here on your next lunch break downtown!

Let me preface this by stating that this review is for their second location, which is at 200 5th Street.Simply WORST customers service EVER! I ordered via Uber Eats for pickup since I had a coupon that was going to expire. I live on the south side of downtown and it was a bit of a chilly day. I walked down to the restaurant after they had confirmed the order. I arrived after the order said it was ready, and the owner says "We don't accept that order" and cancelled the order right in front of me! No offer for a substitution, no explanation, no nothing. I understand technology sucks at times. Definitely get it. However, if you don't want to accept certain promotions or specials, don't offer them! As someone who was GM of a 4.5 star restaurant with 7 different tablets, I can attest that the RESTAURANT must approve or contact these App's to run promotions like this.I will never be back and hope that many of you don't either.

This place is closed and empty. My favorite Italian go to food when I worked in downtown. Since Covid 19 pandemic hit, majority of downtown workers work remotely. Miss eating at this place so decided to take a trip downtown to go eat for lunch. Very shocked that the suite is closed and empty. No sign posted, no operation hours sign. Some old murals on the windows. Surrounding store were also closed. Tried calling the number for them on Google and operator says, number is no longer in service.

I've been here a few times before, but have a new outlook POST-my trip to Italy. I had the Penne Bolognese to-go with a portion of sausage and a meatball.I actually was pleasantly surprised at some of the nuance in the sauce. The variation of herbs gave the sauce a distinct taste that I enjoyed :) Unfortunately the penne, I felt, was overdone for my taste (too soft and of a single texture that gave easily when you take a bite versus being al dente. If the pasta broth (boiled with salted water) was combined with the sauce and tossed so the starch binded the sauce and penne I feel like this dish would actually be restaurant caliber (because of the herbs and flavor inherent in the sauce). Instead the sauce was just put on top (which is pretty standard here in America). Also little bit more saltiness built into the penne from being boiled in salted water would definitely have helped make the dish a standout!! :) .....aka 4 stars good ;)The sausage was decently good and that taste of the meatball was also good. Unfortunately the meatball texture was very sausage-like and ground down smooth. It just felt wrong when chewed though it tasted good. The sausage itself was good, but just didn't have a fresh taste to it.Overall not bad for a average day at work lunch. Good value and also very friendly and accommodating service.!!

If there is one thing I miss about working from the office, it's the quick skyway trip down to Sorrento's to pick up a delicious lunch. I wish I could eat this place every day but we have a running joke in my office that it must be saved for special occasions. Number 1 reason to love it - they load that to-go box up. Pasta, Lasagna, Chicken Parm - you name it they pile it in there and just when you think the box is full they ask you if you want to add a meatball. Every meal comes with a side salad and baguette or breadstick to give you the real Italian bistro experience (are you seeing why we need to limit ourselves to special occasions yet?!) My personal favorite is the Penne Rosa. Just try it. You will not regret it. Pro tip - try the Chicken and Wild Rice Soup too it's an unexpected 10/10.

Heard through coworkers this is the hot spot for lunch. They weren't kidding. The lines can be pretty heavy, but if you don't go during peak lunch hours you should be fine. The portions and prices are great. For sure to note their weekly specials for your next lunch. The service is great too. They're quick and kind getting people through the line. If you choose to pass on the side salad they give you an extra breadstick or garlic toast. The bread and salad are included with the specials.

Sorrento is a great local place to grab some Italian food for a quick lunch: pastas, sausages, pizza, etc. They provide a great value for a reasonable price in large portions and salad and bread accompaniments. Everything seems to be made from family recipes or at least made from the heart. Their meatballs are pretty solid.Their lasagnas are yummy, particularly the spinach one, which they feature two days a week. Beware, however, that if you don't want a ton of the rich house marinara covering that white-sauce spinach lasagna, you need to speak up. The place gets pretty busy around the mob-lunch times, so it's better to go a little later. It's run by a fine gentleman and his mother along with a staff and perhaps other family members. They are all very well-meaning and kind, if eccentric. One dig on the place, though, is that they use horrible styrofoam and plastic for utensils and dishes, whereas it would be great if they could somehow avoid producing all of that waste everyday. The restaurant is cozy with a lot of room but during the rush it may be hard to find a seat. Adorning the walls are somewhat-cheesy references to the old country but you can tell that making good food runs in the family's history. If you haven't been, go over and try it out.

Good food and friendly service. If you're craving a pasta fix for lunch go here. They have great specials and you'll leave full. I tried the penne ricotta and garlic bread - great comfort food.

I love this place. Good, cheap pasta for lunch. They have half portions of anything for $5, but for another $1-2, you can have leftovers for another meal (or a big, filling lunch). My favorite so far is the cheese ravioli. Lunch specials include the entree, a salad, and either a breadstick or cheese bread. The staff is used to people knowing what they want and moving through, but they'll answer your questions if you ask, just expect a very short, direct answer.

I would eat at Sorrento's even if the food was mediocre because the people who work here are THAT nice. It's very clear that they take pride in their food and want you to have a great lunch. But the food is NOT mediocre. It's quite possibly the best food I've had in the skyways, and it's pretty cheap too. I love the double-crusted spinach pizza, which comes slathered in some exceptionally tasty red sauce. I also really love the Chicken Sorrento with mashed potatoes and this buttery garlic sauce. I had to make myself stop eating the mashed potatoes to prevent gaining three pounds and/or falling asleep at my desk. The vegetarian lasagna and the shells are also very good.Tip: Get a to-go container and take back the leftovers for tomorrow's lunch. You can order half-portions of the pasta dishes, but it's much more cost effective to order a whole order and eat the rest tomorrow. And trust me, you'll need to eat the rest tomorrow. Some of my office lunch companions have some pretty big appetites, but I've never seen anyone finish a whole order at Sorrento's.
