I like this place, even though it's not very spacious. During the one hour I was there, I noticed a lot of takeout orders. Parking isn't very convenient--you'll need to find street parking nearby, which is metered unless you park farther away. The menu is extensive! They offer noodles, hotpot, congee, fried rice, chow fun, milk tea, and more. The flavors aren't very spicy, as the dishes are Cantonese-style rather than Sichuan-style. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! The waiter was welcoming and friendly.I had a great experience overall. I feel like this is a wonderful spot to bring family or close friends for a tasty meal. However, it's not ideal for a formal dining occasion.

They should call the sweet and sour chicken - sweet and sour breading. They make the breaded chicken in long narrow strips, so as to increase the surface area in order to decrease the chicken. There was almost no chicken at all. Also, the onions and green peppers were not cooked or even seasoned. The fried rice was ok.

Sidewalk Kitchen is a name that does not seem obvious to have Chinese cuisine. I think they are a solid takeout and eat in when I am crabing some Chinese food. A friend of mine from China recommended this spot. She said that it had options closer to what she would order in China, so it was more authentic to her. One day, I ordered some garlic coated string beans with white rice, an order of fried chicken wings, and #76. Szechuan Spicy Diced Chicken with fried rice. The service was decent and attenive, the food was flavorful, and the portions allowed us to have seconds. For two, the bill was also reasonable. When we asked for some soy sauce and hot oil, the flavor of the food definitely was enhanced. The food tasted fresh and appeared to be fresh off the press, so that makes me happy to know that things move quickly through this place and they have a steady flow of patrons in the University of Minnesota area.

My reviews pertains to their takeout and delivery services only. I have never dined in. Although, I can vouch that the restaurant appears pretty clean and spacious for adequate searingPros: Probably one of the best Asian takeout spots I had in the twin cities. The food isn't overly greasy and the meat quality seems a tad bit more superior than other takeout spots. The menu is very diverse, so there is a good balance of authentic cuisine and the American styled favorites. It was easy to order through third party delivery services and easy to order directly through the restaurant. I like the ease of online ordering as well. My food was ready on time each time, and preparation time was consistentCons: As much as I enjoy the food here, I have noticed some quality control issues. I have ordered the same thing multiple times, and lately, the honey pork sauce has varied in taste and thickness.

Great Chinese Restaurant! One of the only places in the Twin Cities where the food tastes similar to what I experienced in Hong Kong. However, I took away one star because the prices seem higher than the service and ambiance levels provided. But when I crave great Chinese food, this is my #1 choice in the Twin Cities. It's located on the U of MN campus, so parking can be difficult to find (or expensive) during certain times of the year. Here are my family's fav dishes if you need some inspiration:Mom: Sizzling Egg TofuDad: Roasted Duck Appetizer Hubby: Everything Me: Golden Fried Garlic Sole FiletTeen Son: Beef Chow FunTeen Daughter: Walnut Honey Jumbo Shrimp

I am here in Minneapolis for a week for business travel. While craving for great food within walking distance within the University of Minnesota campus, I have found this gem just taking 3 minutes walking from my hotel. I went the first day eating the beef brisket noodle soup. That was the most authentic Hong Kong taste outside of CA and NY. I went back again on the second day eating chicken and barbecue pork (chasiu) rice, which was very satisfying (ginger paste was even provided adding the flavor upon the chicken). With the full house at 7:30pm, I know this restaurant really rocks. The owners and the servers are very nice. The atmosphere was superb with all the Hong Kong style decorations.

OVERALL: a true & authentic hole in the wall restaurant. A hidden gem on the U of M campus. FOOD: We ordered the chicken congee, honey bbq pork, beef chow fun, crispy custard dessert, Hong Kong style milk tea, and Hong Kong style lemon tea. The HK style teas were the best teas I've had in the city. They were absolutely delicious! Each of the dishes themselves were large portions and so flavorful. For the congee, maybe ordering soy sauce or even ginger scallion oil on the side would've leveled it up, BUT even for just the congee itself it was delicious and you can tell they use broth instead of water to boil it down. I also appreciate with the chow fun that they limit the amount of onions and add a lot of bean sprouts. The BBQ pork with honey really adds a unique flavor that is not typical of other BBQ pork I've ordered at other places. SERVICE: The service was fast and kind. Waters always full, truly 5/5. PRICE: I'll have to come back for their weekday lunch special where dishes range from $9-12, but each of our dishes today were $13-$19. I learned as well that the owners are from HK and want to share the authentic flavors in MN. They also are the only restaurant that make the crispy cream custard dessert that is SO delicious. They make it to order as well so it's always fresh and hot. They also make their duck daily as well and I have to come back for that! *They also have a parking lot, which is HUGE bonus for being on campus!!

My partner and I ended up ordering from here through DoorDash, and they have some of the best salted fish and diced chicken fried rice I've ever had. The salted fish is seasoned perfectly with the umami flavor, and the portions were generous. The meat to rice ratio was decent and pretty well distributed throughout. Everything was well packaged, and it makes me wish I dined in because it's already so good taking out. Next time I'm in Minneapolis, I'll make it a priority to come back and check out their other dishes. We saw this place in the morning as we were having breakfast at Hong Kong Noodle, we knew we wanted to check them out for dinner, and we were so happy to find that they're on DoorDash. I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for Chinese cuisine.
