Great little local Nordeast grocery store with its own liquor store inside. The groceries are a little spendy, but if you need just a quick dinner pick-up or forgot an item or two, this is your spot. It's so close to me I just hop on my bike most times to go grab what I need. The staff know the regulars & are very friendly, too. If you're ever in my hood, check them out.

Sentyrz is an awesome store! I've been going there over 20 years. Wally Sentyrz and all of the workers are family. They offer specials on a wide variety of items from liquor to awesome hand- rolled veggie rolls. I've even purchased tomato plants in the Spring. Take a stop in. I love them and I avoid the crowded, spendy large grocery chains. Tell them Rosie sent you!

This is the only spot in Minnesota where you can buy your groceries and alcohol at the same time. Dontcha know? The store has been owned by the same Polish family since 1923. And I don't think there are many other grocers that cater to the Polish cuisine as well as they do. Service is excellent! It helps that all of the employees are true Minnesota Nice, and their accent is on point! I feel so at home when I shop here. Because it's such a small grocer, their selection is pretty limited. However, they almost always have what I'm looking for, and their produce is extra fresh!

Always friendly staff, decent food selection for a small neighborhood store, and the best prices on lots of local beer, wine, and liquor. Surprising selection of local beers, including some of the best brewers in Minneapolis and St. Paul. I love a bright IPA or pale ale or sour or solid porter from Surly, Insight, Fair State, etc. Some of the liquor prices even beat big chain stores. Check the weekly ad for best deals, like $7.99 for 4-pack of tall cans from local featured breweries.

If you consume eight daily servings of anything, this is not the place for you. If you enjoy classy ice cream, this is not the place for you. If you appreciate clear signage indicating merchandise location, this is not the place for you. If you seek some combination of chips/dead cow/exotic beer/strange cashier editorialization, this is the place for you. This is the place for me.

I can't stress enough the convenience of the grocery / liquor store. I mean, really...how many are there out there? I heard that Sentyrz was grandfathered in, which is why they got to keep their current setup. I'm always amazed that this tiny little store has what I need. I assume an "ethnic market" of this size (and Sarah J, you're right, there's nothing ethnic about it) won't ever carry the random things I ask of it, but I'm constantly surprised. I wouldn't recommend shopping for your produce, but again, if you're in a pinch, they'll definitely have what you need saran-wrapped ten times. The food that can't be beat is their brats and sausages. They make their own brand and they are fantastic AND cheaper than all the others in the store. hmmm.. coincidence? Probably not. Either way, be sure to take advantage of a typical NE fare done right.Favorite Sentyrz moment: While my boyfriend and I were getting a few things at the store, we just got word that our offer was accepted on our house down the street. Once the staff overheard, we all celebrated with a small wine tasting. Each staff member introduced themselves along with the NE street they live on. Now... is that going to happen at Rainbow? Doubt it.

What a post-war supermarket used to be. Family operated, local, not a warehouse, but pretty good selection, and carry some small local and premium as well as ethnic stuff. Unpretentious, diverse clientele and employees, a looser atmosphere than the chains, real conversations, workers can kid each other and not have someone tell them they aren't fitting the corporate image.Probably better than NE Lunds at rotating perishables and which uses misleading and inconsistent dating schemes.I'm especially impressed that if you need the manager, they give you to the owner. I had to speak to him twice about safety issues (neither within his control) : A brand of bottled red cabbage had a lot that was barely cooked and missing the vinegar - a setup for botulism. Unlike the chains, he understood the problem instantly and was already having the staff pull the items before I ended the call. The other - a charitable aluminum can drop he allowed a charity to set up at the end of his parking lot had been colonized by yellow jackets, and he was similarly proactive. What a business should be: A friendly, unpretentious place, with an owner that takes pride in the business and is professional and safety conscious.
