This is an average Americanized Minnesota style Tex-Mex joint - 3 stars.Things got off to a good start on my first visit to this new restaurant. They have Mexican beer on tap, they have Horchata, they have Jarritos soda, and they have lots of hot sauces & condiments. Nice - this is a good sign. The ice cold Modelo Negro and the giant 32 oz. Horchata were great! Then again, they don't really make this stuff themselves. The Horchata is mixed from a commercial concentrate. And of course, they don't brew their own Modelo beer. Then the food started to arrive...ugh! The corn chips came first - chips out of a bag, salsa out of a can, and standard melted queso blanco cheese dip. Humm...maybe the entrée will be better...My Carne Asada Burrito meal had a wimpy burrito, bland flavor, and a disappointing low grade beef. It felt like I was chewing on car tires. Yuck! I don't know why they don't do what other (authentic) Mexican restaurants do. If you're going to use a low grade beef (like flank steak) or a steak from some poor retired 20 year old milk cow, use a meat hammer to pound the hell out of it. It definitely tenderizes it. And it's somewhat authentic. My ex-wife, from Peru, used to do this all the time with her South American cuisine. In fact, I'd say she had a strange obsession with our vintage 1950s meat hammer. But I digress. The flan was a joke. The flavor was fine. But it was chewy, it had clumps, and it sat in a puddle of water instead of syrup. They couldn't even get this right. The employees were all friendly, the space is clean & inviting, the food comes out fast & hot, and the prices are reasonable. Those are the best things I can say about Senor Patron. This is the 3rd Mexican restaurant in this space in the past 10 years. El Azteca was around for years but it was pretty lame. I really liked Tres 3, they were great and made a lot of things from scratch. But unfortunately, they didn't make it through the pandemic shutdown - bummer. Most recently, Senor Patron arrived about 5 months ago. This space is back to mediocrity and low standards. If want some great Mexican food nearby, I highly recommend the following: Tacos La Paloma (west Anoka), Casa Rio Tex Mex (downtown Anoka), the food truck permanently parked on the south side of highway 10 in Ramsey (sorry, I don't remember the name but they're great), and finally, Tasty Taco, a new place in Andover.I'm not impressed and I probably won't go back.-Maxx

I get the (grilled chicken) "Burrito Mojado" every time I'm here. Perfection each time. Chicken has a lot of flavor without being super salty, the guac & queso are always delicious, salsa is great. My spouse gets the fajitas and other varieties of protein heavy entrees and has raved about them all. Any of the speciality margaritas are good, however I'm not a huge fan of the house ones because of the mix used. Service is always great- quick, friendly, accommodating. The restaurant & decor are really nice, clean- beautiful booths, chairs, and paintings. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food.

Senor Patron looks brand new on the inside. Clean, pristine, and very welcoming. Service was friendly and professional with about average turnaround times in the kitchen. As for the food, it was about average across the board for a Mexican restaurant in this type of range. The queso was good, but could have used a little bit of spiciness/kick to give it that little extra. The burrito had some potential, but the peppers and chicken were a bit overcooked. Just about everything taste-wise was an acceptable 3-star or thereabouts. One negative was that the prices seemed fairly high vs. comparable restaurants in the general area. This was both on the food and drink (margarita) side of things.

The food was mediocre and the margarita was poor. Our waiter was nice but wasn't very helpful. The horchata was tasty. Place wasn't busy, that should be a clue!!! Next time I'll heed to the draw or lack of it next time!

Tried this tonight after watching a TikTok since I'm new to Minnesota and this place is absolutely amazing. Food is great and reminds me of being back home in Texas. Drinks were delicious and service was top notch. The ambiance and atmosphere reminded me of the small mom and pop restaurants back home. Definitely a place to try and enjoy good food!

Good food and service. Queso is runny. A good place to stop if you live in Ramsey. There will no wait but that's not a bad thing.
