Today we dined here for lunch with four adults and three young kids and they were able to accommodate our large group easily. This restaurant has a great ambiance and super cute inside. And it's centrally located in downtown St. Paul. I heard this is a newer location. We loved the Pha Ram Long Song curry entree and got it since it's One of the staples of Ruam Mit. And the Pad See Lee noodle entree was delicious, we got it with wide noodles. The service was decent, we got our food pretty quick and they came to check on us. Just be sure to check if your gratuity is automatically included before tipping. We didn't notice the tip automatically included until it was "too late". Overall a nice dining place with fantastic food. I would definitely dine here again.

For me, Ruam Mit is the OG Thai restaurant in the twin cities. Several decades ago it was one of a handful of thai restaurants here and the one where I first ate Thai food. It's now on its third location (that I can remember) and continues to serve high quality Thai food. I'm not sure it's the best in the Twin Cities anymore, but it's still really good. The new location is well located in the middle of downtown. I appreciate that despite changes in the neighborhood, it still stuck around. The new location is much brighter and has a more modern feel. They really upgraded. The food is still excellent. We ordered Miang Kham as an appetizer - it's deceptively simple, but really tasty. It's deconstructed by design, after it arrives at your table you assemble the bits and pieces on lettuce and then dribble with the sauce. Wow - what a flavor and texture explosion. Everyone should try this at least once. This visit I tried the Bung Bo, a noodle dish. It was flavorful and reminiscent of a Vietnamese salad. I enjoyed it but will likely stick with the stir fry entrees. The Pad Ped Bai Kta Prao is excellent- probably the dish that made me fall in love with Thai food. The service was attentive and helpful. If you are looking for Thai Food in Saint Paul, decades later this is still a must visit location.

This place is great! Walkable location once you find parking in downtown St. Paul. Food: we ordered the chicken satay, a vegetarian spring roll, fried wonton, and pad Thai. Everything tasted great! The second time I came here we ordered fried tofu and it wasn't our favorite. It was tofu that was fried, rather than tofu coated in a batter then fried. Service: you walk in and wait to be seated, which is usually very quick. Heads up that they are pretty busy around lunch time as it's in a prime business location. Ambiance: I spent ~10 minutes talking with a veteran sitting next to me who told me this place has been around for years and recently upgraded locations. The place looks nice and they are sticking true to their "unassuming Thai food" brand.Would recommend if you are in St. Paul.

I went there for lunch. I ordered the Tom Yum soup. I got spice level 2 out of 5. The soup was excellent, but at spice level 2, it was still way too spicy for me. That was my fault. I should have asked more about how spicy it actually was. For my drink, they gave me ice tea that was spoiled. It was probably made two days ago and left out unrefrigerated. The service was great and all of the employees were friendly. Unfortunately, I won't be going back. If you don't order the iced tea, and you're careful about your spice level, you should be fine.

DELICIOUS authentic Asian food, but you need to know what to order for maximum flavor, so take notes. Haha. 54. PAD SEE IEW (5/5) this dish doesn't look as good as it tastes, but don't miss out. Opt for the wide noodles as it soaks up more of the delicious sauce. 30. PHA RAM LONG SONG (5/5) we usually get matsaman, but so glad we tried this beautiful blend of red curry and peanuts. We opted for spinach instead of steamed veggies and it seemed to pair well. 34. PAD PAK (5/5) the super fresh veggies are stir fried to perfection. 45A. LAAB (4/5) traditional flavors and a great option for when I'm on a diet. The accompanying vegetable soup was bland to me. 51. KAO PAD BAI KRA PRAO (SWEET BASIL RICE) (4/5) Basil added freshness to the rice dish. Mango Sticky Rice (3/5) rice had a good sweetness but the mango was a bit tart for me. Thai Custard (2/5) mildly sweet. It's fun to try a new dessert but it just wasn't as flavorful as the other items in our meal. Ambiance (4/5) super cute florals draped from the ceiling. Cozy fireplace lounge area. Loved our velvety soft chairs. Maybe not beautiful enough for a romantic date night, but perfect for happy hour with fun friends. Service (5/5) our server was friendly and great at helping us choose the most flavorful dishes Service was slower when a rush of theater-goers swarmed in, but I think the staff worked well together to give us great service.

I had a coworker recently recommend Ruam for their roast duck curry, so my husband and I decided to have a lunch date here during the week. The server we had was super friendly, they were very on top of filling waters, and the food was fantastic. I did feel like the portions were a bit smaller than I anticipated, but we left full and happy. We ordered stuffed wings, roast duck curry, a noodle soup, and papaya salad. The papaya salad was amazing with their beef jerky and the spice level was perfect on that, the duck curry was amazing but I do wish it was spicier than what we got- but it's not much to complain about all things considered. We would definitely consider this a place to go to again for a random date! Great spot for our first date in 2025 to kick us off on another year of trying new restaurants!

A nice restaurant right in the heart of downtown Saint Paul. Convenient street parking and adjacent parking garage available. Also located directly off bike path for ease of access. Indoor and outdoor seating available weather permitting!Voted both the best of the Twin Cities for and best Thai Diners Choice Award for a number of years. This restaurant has been here a while and has established itself with a solid following. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated. Our server was very patient as we asked questions about the menu and levels of spice in various dishes. A nice menu offering an array of Thai teas in addition to beers and soft drinks. The restaurant interior is eclectic with a light modern feel. The restaurant was very busy for a Thursday night and I believe you were very lucky to get in without a reservation. Definitely suggest reservations for peak hours.Among the best pad Thai I have very enjoyed. Check it out!

Went to Ruam Mit Thao for lunch with coworkers and I was pleasantly surprised at my experience! First impressions: it was clean, had a lovely feel, and the staff were pleasant. It is located in downtown St. Paul and quick walk from the St. Paul event center. Food: the basil fried rice was SOOO GOOD! It had the right amount of kick, great flavor, and they give you a hefty portion. The special Eggrolls (made with pork) were spicy but so delicious you couldn't stop eating them! Chicken satay with the cucumbers and peanut sauce.... YUMMY! The wontons were kind of a miss, would have loved to have more cream cheese ratio. Tips: because they are located downtown, be mindful about parking. Although we went during the lunch hour, it was busy! So I would recommend making a reservation. Can't wait to go back! Very satisfied with my experience.

I had a wonderful experience at Ruam Mit. My party and I had a good time enjoying a variety of Thai dishes. Besides enjoying outer tasty and flavorful dishes, we also got to meet the owner/ head chef, Mark, I think his name is, and his family. Located in downtown St. Paul, Ruam Mit, is a family-owned authentic Thai & Lao cuisine restaurant. They have a wonderful variety on their menu, and their pricing is reasonable. We had made a reservation as it is recommended given that the restaurant can get busy at peak times. We had ran a few minutes late but they still honored our reservation. The restaurant was well-lit, has nice décor and aesthetics, and clean. It was spacious with comfortable seating. We took our time to order as there were several good choices on their menu and that included some items we hadn't seen at other Thai restaurants. Our sever was the son of the owner/ manager of the restaurant (which didn't know until later when paying the bill). He gave good recommendations and suggestions. We ordered:1) Miang Kham - dried shrimp, lemon, fresh ginger, jalapeños, onion, roasted coconut, roasted peanuts, and special Miang Kham sauce in a lettuce wrap.2) Bahn Xeo - rice flour crepe with hints of coconut milk and yellow curry, folded over bean sprouts and chicken.3) Roast Duck Curry - slices of slow roasted duck simmered in coconut milk, red curry, sweet basil, tomatoes, & sweet peas.4) Tum Mak Hoong (Lao Style Papaya Salad) - shredded fresh green papaya prepared in special fermented fish sauce, tomatoes, lime juice and fresh Thai chilies, served with sticky rice, dried spicy beef jerky, & fresh lettuce.5) A fried rice dish and a few beverages. The food came out in timely manner. We had to adjust some of our ordered items as they were out of some items in their kitchen. The dishes were really flavorful and tasty. We all liked our dishes including the appetizers (#1 and #2 listings from above). I had ordered the Tum Mak Hoong and asked to be made at spice level of 4 or 5. They delivered it as requested and it was worth it. Each dish had good flavor profile as the flavor was pronounced. There was no generic taste or absence of some flavor while other flavor was there like thing. My party and I had the opportunity to meet the owners of the restaurant, the husband and wife team (sorry, I forgot their names). It was nice to meet them and get to know their story behind opening the restaurant including the relocation from their previous location to this location. We really enjoyed our experience here and would go back. I highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you haven't before.
