Roosters Roadhouse

Mostly a place to drink, a mixed experience with the food & service - 3 stars.I met 2 local Clear Lake friends for lunch. One of them thought everything was only a sad 2 stars. The other thought our visit was a good 4 stars. Personally, I'm averaging it out to a solid 3 star experience.I have mixed feelings about Rooster's Roadhouse. I expected something great but I ended up being somewhat disappointed. I'm willing to cut them some major slack, however, because of staffing shortages. And our server told us the main cook has been out sick for nearly a month.Our food ranged from really good to lame. Our burgers were great. The Roadhouse burger was so good, I ordered a 2nd one to take home. The soup was decent. The boneless wings sucked. They were dry and they had a weird flavor. The ham & swiss stacker was okay. But they charged 70 cents for each little deli cup of mayo. So it was $1.40 for 2 little side cups of mayo (that should have been on the sandwich in the first place). I thought this was a little odd and irritating, especially since all of the prices (food & booze) are very reasonable.The service overall was pretty good considering the bartender was our server, she was alone, and there was a full bar. The 3 of us were the only people in the dining room. But she brought out a couple of wrong items. And she couldn't answer any basic questions about the food or the beer. She pleaded ignorance and said she didn't know anything. I appreciate the honesty. For example, I asked her what company brewed Moose Drool Ale and what state they're in...she didn't know...cool, no problem. But when I walked by the bar, I noticed it was all printed out in big letters on the beer tap. She couldn't read the tap when she was filling the glass? Strange - I don't get it.I don't know what's going on at Rooster's...staffing shortages, burnout, laziness, lack of training? No clue. But I probably won't go back to this one. Our recent visits to the neighbors (Laurel Supper Club and Vinny's) were waaay better. And both of those joints are only a couple minutes down the road.One final note about the people: I'm from Minnesota and I can't help but notice how friendly everyone is in this part of Wisconsin. That includes the staff at various businesses and the customers I've run into and random strangers. The friendly laid back demeanor is very noticeable when I cross the St. Croix River. It makes me seriously consider moving to Wisconsin.Thumbs up to rural Wisconsin!- Maxx

Great burgers great service..... try the bleu burger with home made coleslaw and the fries are classic!

If you want good food good drinks and an excellent honky tonkin' good time.... this is the place to be! I'm so impressed with the country bands they have there some of them have even came from Nashville. They have excellent food and so many friendly staff and patrons you just can't say no to this place if you want to get out and have a good time nobody does a good time like this anymore especially in the middle of nowhere! It's well worth the drive out!

What a disappointmet this place has become. Stopped it last night on New Years Eve, the guy working the bar had the personality of abrasive wall paper. He was rude, certainly appeared he did not want to be there (and at that point neither did we). Shouted out the prices of two drinks, brought them and set them down hard on the bar...and was impatient with payment. Used to like this place, too bad we wont be back, gotta like your job or at least act like you do. TLA

Found this place just off our beaten path between northern Wisconsin and the Twin Cities. The burgers are amazing. Friendly and attentive staff. We will absolutely return.

when i was younger i would go here a lot with my grandma because she loved it we became friends with everyone that worked there and they are all so nice and the foods really good it is worth going, it is a little pricey though.

Came here for Easter brunch. Had a 11:15 reservation and were never seated. Found a seat at a bar table at 11:45 and got in line. Most of the food was gone. Even as we were eating they continued to seat people for the buffet. There were no more than 50 people here and they couldn't keep up. Will never come back and hope they don't charge us full price for a half assed meal.

On Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, I had the worst dining experience of my long and storied life. Waited nearly 2 Hrs for a simple food order, 4 fish fry specials, 1 wing platter and 1 wrap sandwich. The waitress obviously copped her bad attitude from the owner / manager, who was too busy standing around in the kitchen to advise diners whether or not they would ever be served. People with more intelligence got up and left. Stubborn folks waited. To the manager, please look at yourself in the mirror and see if the person looking back really belongs in the food service business.

Always love this place. But hanging with friends on a Sunday evening is quite different. The new bartender has no personality at all. She is hiding behind the register like she is afraid to talk to anyone. A little better staff would get us to hang out and spend more money a little longer.

Cool little dive bar way out in the middle of no where. Great fish fry but it does take some time to get your food so come thirsty.
