It's a total hole in the wall, but a really awesome theatre space.

Red Eye often plays host to Walking Shadow's productions, one of which is in session at present moment. John Heimbuch's rendition of Sleepy Hollow as a comedy is worth every penny of the admission price. Due to popular demand, they added another show for this upcoming Sunday.Anyhow, back to Red Eye - it's a tiny little theatre space, tucked in behind several restaurants at the south end of Downtown. Not quite Loring Park, not quite Steven's Square, not quite Downtown...it's an interesting part of town, and not one that you would expect to find a little performance space hiding in.As others have mentioned, parking is a bear in this area. If you're lucky enough to snag a meter as someone else is leaving, you're golden. If you're on the flip side of the parking coin, you'll end up parking several blocks away (like we did this past weekend) and hoofing it back. This would be a great Fringe venue, and I hope to see more productions here soon. I've seen several of WSTC's shows, but not much of anyone else's work. It's a neat little space, and totally worth a visit.

Went to my first performance at the Red Eye Theater a few weeks ago. Great location just off Nicollet Avenue near downtown Minneapolis. Within walking distance of Ping's, Triple Espresso, Taxxi's, and Ichiban's.Metered parking spots line the street in front of the theater, but getting one relies solely on well-timed luck. We found surface parking at a self-serve lot about two blocks west on 14th; well-lit and inexpensive, the machine took credit cards or cash for the $5 pre-pay.The theater itself seats maybe 80 in what seemed to be reclaimed movie seats from the 1950s--not so comfortable for a 2+ hour show. The bathroom I finally found (!) doubled as a dressing room for the female performers; after the performance, patrons were competing with actors for space.Good space for the artists, mediocre for the patrons.

I saw my first performance here a few weeks ago. It was called the "Small" and was about the world ending. Don't worry though, it wasn't nearly as morbid as it sounds. Not quite sure I understood the play as a whole, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching each individual scene and the acting was great! Miriam was absolutely superb!Three things make this theater awesome:1. It gives local artists a chance to put themselves out there2. The staff and board are phenomenal3. It has been newly renovated and has fresh coats of paint, newly covered chairs, and a re-finished lobbySupport local artists and do yourself a favor- check out this theater!

Went to Red Eye Theater's "The Thugs" on Saturday. It was the worst play I've ever seen, including community theater productions! Writing and direction were terrible, and most of the actors need lessons. Don't waste your $18 on this play!

I do love where this theatre is and the people there are so so very nice but this play we saw this past weekend was horribly painful to sit through. It was called IRIS and some of the acting was pretty good but the plot and story was terrible. I couldnt wait for it to end. I have seen some good plays here, however, so do your research first. Nice lounge area and bathrooms,, close to some good places to eat as well.
