I can not explain how this place has more than 4 stars. The best thing on my plate was the roasted chili pepper. The yelp page says lots of vegetarian options and yay for vegan. Not so much. I do eat fish so we went ahead and ordered. I got "Mojarra Frita" described as fried tilapia topped with Mexican cheese. I ordered no cheese. I was expecting a filet. It was a whole fish. This was not daunting. But the first bite told me that it had spent too much time in a freezer. I dipped into the beans and they dripped through my fork. Husband had beef tacos. I asked how they were. He said "If I'm sick tomorrow, you know why." It's been an hour. So far we aren't sick. Good things: the chips were super crunchy. The salsa was ok though I had to add hot sauce to it. The rice wasn't totally bad. The avocado was fresh and perfectly ripe. The service was good.

Tonight after finding all the in-out oil change spots close at 5pm.We did what everyone does,,,,LETS EAT! The site of the old Burger King/Wendys,is now a FANTASTIC MEXICAN SPOT! Chips and salsa were served by the owners darling little boy,Great to see the work ethic is still alive! IThe feeling is casual, with even a lounge area seperate from the dining room. The food we each ordered was BEYOND what we anticipated. The food is very carefully and freshly presented. The quality is bar-none.The dishes were beautifully crafted. All, was served by a prompt and gracious waitress. We will now have the new/old dinner-joint! Can't wait till next week!

Across the street from out hotel (best western), we didn't really want to go out for the evening, so ordered take out from Rancho Viejo. We got the carne asada, and a pick 3 (2 chile rellenos and an enchilada). All were delicious, and belied the fact they were takeout (it helped that they were still hot, because, well - across the street).Almost did it twice, but the other nights we had more energy to check out the town.

Service was good but food was rubbish. We ordered the Fajitas Mazatlan which was supposed to have crab, scallop, shrimp and mushrooms in it and the El Michoacana with chicken, steak and mushrooms. When the food was served to us, there was no mushroom and the crab and scallops were artificial. I asked the server what happened to the mushroom and she said they run out of it. It would have been nice if we were told when we ordered that the seafood were artificially made and that they didn't have mushrooms. I was looking forward to having the scallops and mushrooms too. It was a big disappointment. The shrimps were overcooked as well. Their food were soaking in oil. I meant not to exaggerate but this is literally how the food was. The only reason I was giving 1 star is because of the complimentary chips and salsa and that the lady was pretty nice to us . We'll never come back to this place ever!!!!!

While visiting Alexandria, MN my wife and I decided to try the local Mexican cuisine and boy did it not disappoint! To start with the Salsa that came with the chips was spectacular, probably one of the best Mexican restaurant salsas I've had. The food was hot, tasty, and the perfect portion size for dinner with extremely quick service. The only disappointment was the margarita and it really wasn't that big of an issue but is the only reason I didn't give a 5 star review. The margaritas tasted fantastic but they lacked in alcohol so much we ended up asking if we had been given a nonalcoholic margarita. That being said we would definitely return if we happen to find ourselves back in Alexandria, MN.

Stopped in on our way home from a trip to Costa Mujeres, because it's hard to let go of Mexico. We were greeted and seated immediately at around 130pm on a Tuesday.Establishment was clean & well decorated. Several imports on tap & a large menu. Chips and (big score here) INDIVIDUAL bowls for salsa - double dip with no fear or judgement!Chips were automatically refilled when empty.Food came out with hot food hot and cold food cold. There was an abundant of food on each plate, perhaps too much, as only 1 of 3 finished.Dishes were neither over-salted nor bland. There were sauce options to amp up the heat, as well as a variety of flavor profiles yo choose from on the menu. It's nice that it wasn't one note.We were too full for dessert, so that will have to wait til next time. Empty dishes were refilled or removed promptly. Timing for the wait staff was on point, though only 2 other tsbles were occupied, removing some of the rush hour challenges.Overall, we were very pleased with our experience.

I came for lunch. One other table in the restaurant. I ordered the pollo chorizo Plate no beans, extra rice and extra cheese with a coke. Plate came with Beas, no extra rice, and no extra cheese. Coke is either not Coke, or they gave me diet. Couldn't complain. Nobody ever came back to check on me. Won't be back
