First time visit. We were greeted and seated promptly, our server Salo brought chips, salsa and water. We weren't ready to order drinks right away, so we needed a minute. Salo came back and I ordered a regular margarita rocks, server brought margarita and it was mostly mix with no taste of tequila. Waited another 7 minutes for Salo to return to place our dinner order and 2 Corona's. Salo returned with Coronas five minutes later and took our empty chip basket & salsa, didn't offer more. Odd experience with our server, either he was new, had his head in the clouds or didn't care. Other employees and servers were dashing around busing tables and taking care of guests and hustling with pride, ours was like Eyore on Winny the Pooh (?). Food arrived delivered by what appeared to be the restaurant owner, food looked good & hot with decent sized portions. Looked around for Salo needing some hot sauce or salsa and looked for him for another five minutes. Finally saw him come out of the kitchen standing by the bar talking to co-workers. I got up and walked over to him and he was surprised to see me, asked for Tapito and salsa. Salo brought salsa and I grabbed a bottle of Tapito myself off the server station. Salo never followed to see how things were tasting and going, fortunately food was good. Other employees were still dashing around serving their guest providing a good experience, Salo was know where to be found. We finished our meal, Salo brought the bill and we paid. Food was okay, bad margarita, lousy service... We won't be back! Lots of other local options like Brito's Burritos, Poncho Villa's and even Taco Bell.

The combination 15 sounds like a good option for variety, but there were a couple of misses. The beef taco itself was tasty but could have used more seasoning. The tostada and chalupa were unfortunately stuck to the plate, making them difficult to eat.

When we travel to Monticello-land, we eat at Rancho Grande. We were introduced to it a few years ago by Mrs. Whiskeyfellow's cousins, and we've been fans ever since. The good news is we wind up in this area about once a year, so we get to enjoy it. The bad news is we only wind up in this area about once a year.First thing first: Parking stinks. If the restaurant is crowded, expect to park somewhere outside of the parking lot. Second thing second: The service is top-notch. While we obviously aren't regulars, we have never had an issue with the service at Rancho Grande. Our party size is typically 20 or so. They can handle that in stride (again, if the restaurant is crowded, you may get split up). But everyone gets their food on time and together, and the orders are always correct. That's not easy, and I commend the staff for what they do.Third thing third: I've not had a bad meal there. Neither has my wife. Neither have any of my wife's cousins who eat there regularly. On our most recent visit, I chose an enchilada dish with four different enchiladas: chicken, beef, bean, and cheese. It was smothered in a basic enchilada sauce. I've had Enchiladas Mole in the past, but it was not on the menu this time.Mrs. Whiskeyfellow selected their Nachos, which you'll find on the appetizer menu. Trust me when I tell you this is a complete meal! It came with beef, pico de gallo sauce, guacamole, beans, and, of course, chips and cheese. The meat was incredibly tender. If you don't like Mexican food (and if you don't, what's wrong with you?), they have stuff for you. There's a kid's menu as well. The cost is about average for most Mexican restaurants (so long as you don't count Taco Bell or its competitors as authentic Mexican restaurants). Long story short: If you're in the Monticello area, you want to eat at Rancho Grande. Cheers!

I was impressed with the service here when our entire bicycle group came here for lunch! Over 18 in our group and they had set up long tables for us! We all got separate checks (thank you), the food was delivered quickly & efficiently. Nice tap beer (Pacifico large tap $6), good lunch special prices, good food!

Very good food. The shrimp cocktail is the best I've had in a long time. Southern California has the best Mexican food besides Mexico and this food is right up there. The cocktail had a lot of shrimp, made it into 2 meals for me. The flavors were on hit. I just needed some Tapatio ( which I did not have)

I didn't even know this place existed. I'm uncertain, but this place may be owned by the same people that previously owned Mucho Loco in Elk River. With ML getting new owners, the menu changed and we were really upset. Anyways, my truck broke down in Monticello last weekend so we decided to eat dinner here. They have many booths as well as tables that have more than your average chair. A cushioned, tall back chair. Though I sat in a booth, I like to think these are probably comfortable. They were steady busy for a Saturday evening. We were sat immediately. Chips and salsa were on our table within minutes. Ordered a side of guacamole, which was refreshing. The salsa was great as well. They have nearly the same menu as what ML used to have so I was ecstatic to see both of our favorite items on the menu. The burrito Jalisco is my fave. A chicken, onion, and pepper burrito smothered in queso, with rice, lettuce, and Pico de gallo salsa on the side. It was fantastic. Great flavor. And our food came in a timely manor. The staff were all friendly and our server was attentive. Partner had the Fajitas Rancheros and said it was exactly what he wanted. I can't wait to go back here! I will say this place is in a small strip mall that has limited parking. And I also seen that they do have a margarita special on weekdays/weeknights.

my fiancée and I decided to eat here today (6/1/24). We both love authentic Mexican food! Well, our server had a terrible attitude, as if he hated his job! We asked for additional napkins and were given one a piece,. what?! It was very obvious he didn't want to be there! My fiancée ordered the Shrimp Popeye and it was definitely not what she had experienced before in other restaurants! It was watered down with spinach juice. it was actually disgusting. When she brought it to the attention of our waiter, he could hardly understand English and apparently could care less about the customer. Not sure if we will return again. very disappointed!!
