This is what I call authentic Salvadorian food! I was craving pupusas and google led me here. I was a little lost trying to locate it. It is located inside of Mercado Central. There are lots of smaller food shops. Like a food court mixed with clothing shops, dessert shops, and of course the market. Service 10/10 - the nice gentleman who took our order assisted us with the biggest and brightest smile. There's a bit of a wait (about 10 minutes) but it's because the food is freshly made! Food 11/10 - my goodness the pupusas were delicious! They don't skimp out on the curtido. You can choose spicy or non spicy salsa. The spicy salsa was perfect and also clearly home made. Everything about this shop just touched my Salvadorian heart. Ambiance 6/10 - they have lots of smaller seating arrangements. Max of a family of 4 per table. It was nice and clean. It was also pretty crowded and quite loud. It is as casual as it can get. So happy to know this place exists for when I'm craving Salvadorian food! Would absolutely come again for the food!

Eat here! This place is inside a mini mall of Mexican and Central American shops . They don't speak to much English but the smiles are big and friendly. The tables were clean and the crowd was mostly families. The food was fresh and hot . Loved it! Go!

So I wanted papusas and this was #1 on the list that I pulled up and OMG these are frickin amazing..so after I got over a slight language barrier I order two chiccaron and cheese papusas @ 4.50 a piece and they came out piping hot and fresh and I couldn't wait to dig in and like I said earlier OM frickin G are these delicious the pork is very flavorful and you taste the pure taste of the fresh masa. The slaw and hot sauce just make this a home run of a dish. If you are reading this review run..don't walk..but run here immediately.

2021 update: I also tried the fried yucca, with some mixed feelings. For one thing, they will only serve you the large size -- even though their menu claims they also offer a small size for half price. The taste is kinda ok, though the pork is a little dry (though still well-seasoned).Like other stalls at Mercado Central, service has gotten kind of grumpy during the pandemic. Don't expect service with a smile here. But it's not bad enough to lower my rating.Bottom Line: Order your pupusas (and skip the other items on the menu) and get the heck out of there without making eye contact.--Excellent, filling papusas, made to order and served piping hot. Great value too. I thought 4 papusas would be enough for two people, but it was way too much! I made it through one and nearly fell asleep, saving a second one for day 2. My companion bravely made it through two on his own, but had to drink a ton of caffeine just to be able to get back to work. The spicy slaw included was some of the best I've ever had, with plenty left over. All this for under $12.

We stumbled upon this spot via an online delivery service and our interest was peaked when we realized we've never tried Salvadoran food. Most of their menu is gluten free and vegetarian friendly as well. The first time we ordered, we got the Yuca Frita and Loroco Cheese Pupusas. We were a huge fan of the Pupusas with the slaw and jalapeños. It's like a cross between a savory pancake and arepa. So delicious and fills you up quickly! Their portions are huge for the price you pay. While the Yuca Frita was good, I felt like it needed more seasoning or a dipping sauce. The second time we ordered, we got the Carne Asade entree with the Chicharron Cheese and then the Zucchini, Bean and Cheese Pupusas. PURE GOLD! The Carne Asade was flavorful and a good mix of meat and veggies. I love the beans and veggies mixed into the Pupupsas with the slaw on top. Absolutely delicious. All in all, I am excited to explore the rest of Rincóns menu. I know it will be delightful.

I walked into 1515 East Lake street. This building contains a large number of stores, eateries, bakery and butcher shop.It took me a while to find the restaurant in question, be careful, each open kiosk is a different restaurant.I asked for Beef pupusas, they asked if I wanted beans and cheese added, I agreed, then the cashier asked if I wanted two pupusas, because I did not order anything else. Two was just the right amount. The beef, beans and cheese were all melted together, and the thin shell on both sides was still crisp! When you pair the pupusa with the slightly pickled cabbage/carrot and the hot sauce, it was a delicious combination.Side note, the cashiers normally call out the orders in Spanish. If you find a seat facing the cashier, because she waved at me when my order was ready.Highly recommended!

I thought the pupusa was just ok cos Im not a big fan of eating bland mush beans. However, my bf really liked it so much that he kept eating it even though he was already stuffed from eating a whole sandwich from the next stall, so the rating weighs heavily towards my picky eater bf.The pupusa was big and full of filling. It tasted very fresh. I liked the spicy sauce and the cabbage slaw that came with though.

Get yourself to Mercado Central and throw one of these bad boy's down ASAP.The story goes like this: Had a pupusa craving (when don't I?!?) and walked a mile from a nearby brewery to get one. Hadn't been here before. Now I live here.Ok, but really. This place is inside the Mercado Central building, which houses several other tasty shops. But I came for this big guy. I'm not a pupusa pro- but I have been to maybe 3 local places for them. These seem pretty large- and are priced accordingly at around $3-$3.50 each. And they take credit cards. Yay! I stuck with a bean and cheese. They take some time to make fresh, but are always worth it. it came out crispy on the outside and probably the cheesiest EVER on the inside. Cool by me, homie!Top it with quick pickled slaw (go up for refills!) and their watery red sauce. I like this red sauce the most out of the ones I've had because it has a tiny bit more heat than most. Definitely will be back soon for another one!

Crammed into el Mercado Central, it took some searching to find their window among the other food options. The fellow who served us was generous with his patience as I stumbled through my over-eager, under-practiced Spanish in placing my order. I'm sure I could have used English and gotten by just fine, but I figured I knew enough to give it a shot. He was kind and supportive of my efforts and got us sorted with the most amazing pupusas I've had in the cities. They're made fresh on the spot and there were only two guys working so it took about 15 minutes or so, giving us ample time to scope out the panaderia and which empanadas we'd be taking home. They were about $4.50 each, which is a bit, but considering they've so far survived the plague and they're a single tiny business, I'm happy to have a place like this to visit. We're looking forward to returning whenever we're back in the cities.
