5 stars!! I've used this DMV since 1995 and they have Really stepped it up lately!!! I headed there at 4:30pm on a holiday weekend Friday looking to register a new kayak and assumed I would just be out of luck for the weekend. Of course there was a line but they had every computer going. Great friendly and helpful staff! I was in and out within 20 min! I'm honestly looking forward to going back.

I don't understand the bad ratings. This little office in Prior Lake has some of the most efficient and helpful people working there. I've never had a bad experience. What I have seen is people who come in and are crabby and demanding and impatient and don't have their proper documents or paperwork because they didn't research their need. My advice is to go online and read what is required for your transaction, then read it again. If you can pre apply on line for anything, make sure you do. Remember this is a government office and they need to do things by the book. Also, be kind, don't blame them for your problems. Be appreciative. Special shout out to Damien in this office, , he's a rockstar!

Manager with terrible customer service skills.I went to the office to renew my tabs. I tried earlier online, but it only allows you to cover payments through the US Bank. I brought a check to cover any payment, vehicle insurance card, DL and any document that customer service recommended me to bring over the phone. They mentioned that the office was empty and slow and it was a great time to stop by..(11:30am). I was the first one and every representative was busy. I waited 15 minutes before I was called, but felt lucky that I was the next in line. A staff member tried to help me, but had issues with the "new" system. He requested support from the local manager (lady) who mentioned that my record was locked because I tried to pay online. She informed me that I should come back in a week or 10 days and they couldn't do anything. They needed to wait for the system to release my record. I mentioned that I couldn't leave the office with the risk of getting fined from the local authorities. For 3 minutes, the manager lectured me how I caused the issue and that every brother and sister in the state know about how the system locks when you try to renew tabs online. I told her that I was not aware of such glitch and that I didn't have a choice. I followed just the online instructions from the site and that I didn't finish it since I don't have a US bank account. She talked in circles for minutes that there are no glitches, but how I created the mess. I noticed that she was not listening to my needs. I asked for a solution and she mentioned that an exception would be done by providing a temporary certificate valid for 60 days to stick in my car window.I am sure that she could started our conversation by sharing a solution to the issue. I am unsure why it was needed to receive a loud lecture about a service that I needed and I am ready to pay for....I have been at this location several times and the staff is always nice and easy. This is my first time dealing with a bully manager.

I went in to renew my license tabs and for real ID-Enhanced ID. Was told they needed an additional utility bill for ID after waiting line for about 90 minutes. Confirmed that is all I needed and the answer was "yes". Came back next day and waited another 120mins. Then was told that they would not allow me to apply for EDL as my U.S. Passport was expiring in 5 months and 28 days. They said for EDL that my Passport needed good for at least 6 months. They said "Sorry that's the rules. We do not make the rules but we have to follow them". I told them the state does not require this. They told me they do and to take it up with the state of MN. I called MN DVS. They have no such rule. They advised me to go back to the ask to speak to a manager and have them call their liaison if necessary. I went back the refused to call the liaison because they already knew they we correct not the state. She said they would process the renewal but it would not go through and good luck. She then advise the rep to flag my renewal as it was not a valid passport. I could not believe it! I left and drove to Apple Valley and they completed the renewal without incident. I now have my updated Enhanced DL. It is sad that we have to leave our community to get these things completed. Arrogance and incompetence is how I would describe the manager here.

This DMV is privately owned so the customer service is stellar! Still dealing with the typical state of MN DMV crap, but the people here actually help you and are considerate and customer service oriented! Who would've thought that a private business could be better than a government run business - LOL!
