one of my favorite places to go and relax with my family when I'm off of work. Live music, great food and Eunica behind the bar is awesome!

What a great place! The foods good, the outdoor beer garden charming, friendly staff, an owner that makes sure you had a good time, huge bonfire and outdoor music. Never fail to enjoy our time here. The fish fry is fantastic and this place is such an asset to this wonderful town. Sincere thanks for a warm welcome and a wait staff that seems genuinely happy to be of service.

We ordered carry out from here.Atmosphere: They have a nice pick up window for to-go orders so no need to go inside. The outside has minimal parking by the restaurant, so park around back in the alleyway. Service: It took about 45 minutes to get an order picked up after placing it on a Friday night. Food: Unfortunately they use Styrofoam for to go orders, so food will get soggy quickly. I highly recommend when you pick it up to crack the containers to let the steam escape or your french fries will turn into soggy shoe strings. The braised cabbage was delicious. The german potato salad was some of the best I've had and the perch was flaky and tender. Not a big fan of the tarter sauce, too sweet for me, but the coleslaw was acidic, crunchy and not over mayo-y. All in all this would be a 4.5 out of 5 stars if that were an option, soggy fries are not their fault, it's the dang pandemics.

Great huge outdoor space that offers live music and firepit area with plenty of seating, very kid friendly with areas for them to play. When you walk into ice cream area, don't be confused walk to your left and follow bar. IF you want a table indoors for the German food you need to write your name in notebook. We did not know this until we were directed to do so in not such a nice way. IF you want to sit outside they do have a bar menu but it was not available on the Friday evening we were there. We were able to order pizza and sandwiches that we could bring outside to enjoy. Food was okay, I would come back to enjoy the outdoor area and a cocktail. We did not get a chance to sample the German food which we hear from locals is very tasty. Next time.

Was up here over the 4th of July weekend with my girlfriend, on our last night we caught them a little late as they were closing their kitchen, but they still were able to get in a pizza for us at the last minute. I'd easily give it 5 stars, it was well done and not white & doughy, the cheese was delicious, and the ingredients were top notch, & this is coming from a Chicagoan. Looking forward to trying some German food next time we're up.

Erv and Margie really know how to feed you right. Awesome German and Hungarian food. Their fish fry is amazing and so is the pizza. Super friendly service. It always feels like you are sharing a meal with a bunch of your friends. Margie makes everything from scratch in the kitchen. Just the best!

The Pines may not look like much from the outside - but what appears to be a nondescript eatery in the middle of Mercer is chock full of surprises. First - an amazing Biergarten for nice weather days. They have live music regularly and of course, an Oktoberfest celebration. Second - REAL German food. I'm not kidding - I've spent a lot of time on Germany and this is as good or better than the Vaterland. Third - family run all the way. Mom is in the kitchen, dad runs the front of the house and one of the kids will probably wait on you. Finally - it's no frills, which I like. There's an ice cream shop up front and you will be made welcome in a suit or shorts. Here's how it broke down - we started with pretzels which are served with cheese and mustard. Basic, but very tasty. For mains, I went with a pork schnitzel which as you can see by the photo was ginormitron and absolutely delicious. Do yourself a favor and get spätzle as a side because they are HOMEMADE (almost impossible to find) along with sauerkraut. It's some of the best kraut out there, no joke - they spice it all in haüs so it isn't overly vinegary. It's rare that I get all excited about sauerkraut but The Pines is super, super good. The other people I was with enjoyed beef Rouladen, smoked pork chops & veal Parmesan (nightly special, ok?). Portions are huge, prices are pretty reasonable and they make a mean old fashioned. It's not your traditional "supper club" in terms of atmosphere but you'll won't mind after an old fashioned or two and one of their German specialties.

Service was great! On fish fry nights you have to call ahead and make reservations to ensure they have enough- so when we got there, they immediately started making our food. Inside on Fridays are fish only (or veggie pizza if needed). Fish fry was delicious, perch was one of the best I've had. Potato pancakes were fabulous and extra crispy. The inside had a great view of the band that was playing. The Tiki Garden has a separate menu, with no fish fry.
