This is the first barbecue joint since Big Daddy's (RIP) that I've had in the St. Paul area that wasn't disappointing. Brisket: proper render, good smoke ring (this doesn't affect taste but it looks nice), meteorite-black bark as it should be, proper bend on the slice. Fat amount was correct, maybe a little solid from waiting without a warmer. Hot links pretty good, decent flavor, sliced a little thin but nothing to complain about, red, could still get some snap on the casing. Beans were satisfying. Cole slaw was good, no stupid tricks or added herbs, exactly what you expect. Meat platters served with toast which I appreciate more than traditional squishy white bread. They have a whole lot of sauces to choose from; while I don't generally use or advocate sauces with brisket, I tried the Hot and I liked the balance of peppers and vinegar.Alary's (the bar that serves Petey's) validates parking for the ramp next door, which is great because parking is even worse than usual downtown right now. I passed the smoker walking from the ramp, looks like a big charcoal/wood gravity or sidebox wood-fired offset. You can tell from the product that it's run with real skill. Looking forward to my next visit, which is something I almost never say about a barbecue joint.

Peteys BBq is inside Alary's and a must try. From the sauces, meats, and sides everything we had was pretty delicious! Also, If you love a wide array of sauces this is a great spot to choose! We got a ton to try with the meats/wings. My favorites were the house dry rub wings, brisket and the banana pudding. What I tried: Texas Stogies: Jalapeños, stuffed with cream cheese & brisket, wrapped in bacon & smoked.Chicken wings--smoked & fried--got the house dry rub and a ton of dips to try. They serve it with carrots, celery, and your choice of ranch or bleu cheese.Three Meat Platter: We picked brisket, ribs, and turkey. The sides we enjoyed were the potato salad and fries with the comeback sauce. The comeback sauce with the fries is a pro move!Plain Burger - 1/2 pound smoked and seared burger. We did a side of the Street Corn Salad.Petey's Banana Pudding: This is absolutely to die for. I am not a huge dessert person, but this was so good I didn't want to share it. Always get a large! When visiting make sure you park in the ramp next door! Alary's offers validated parking ticket evenings and weekends including Wild games! Also, they have shuttles to and from the Wild games!

This smoked bbq is legit! The brisket and burnt ends are amazing, the rib tips are meaty and full of flavor, and the wings are some of the best I've had! Seriously don't miss out on this experience, it's really good food! If you want to top it off with a little desert the banana cream pudding in the mason jar is lit! That's if you have any room left for desert. Can't say enough good things about this place, all around great food. I'm from Chicago and go for the Bears games, the bbq is the highlight of the game! The owner is a great guy and knows his bbq, he's mastered the smoke!

Food was great and variety of sauces was impressive! I love in Minneapolis, but would drive to St Paul on occasion just to eat here so that's saying a lot!
