5 stars all the way with Obbink. Let me start with the only two negatives I have. The time to get a drink can be quite slow, but that's only because they're intricate cocktails. When it's busy this can cause quite a bit of congestion inside, which is fairly small and compact. However, these are pretty tiny details in an otherwise fantastic experience. The main highlight is the drinks themselves. They have an extensive menu of regular offerings as well the spirits themselves. They offer mocktails as well, so there will be something for everybody here. They have a forte ring seasonal menu that is always a pleasure to check out. The service is second to none, and the staff are always open to chatting or offering suggestions. Sam behind the counter was awesome to work with! There is a smaller parking lot on the north side of the building, otherwise street parking on the south side across from the Holiday station. Anybody who lives in Central MN or is passing through should be making a stop here!

Welcome to the first stop of my Distillery Passport series! Obbink was an unexpected surprised located in a somewhat industrial spot of St. Joseph. With family living near by I thought this would be a great location to begin my journey. As you pull up the spot looks quaint with a metal barn exterior and a large yard and tented patio. Walking in it felt very industrial chic, with wood and black metal interior design. The bartender was absolutely fabulous, we had great conversation and she was able to help my brother and I select a few cocktails that we could be interested based on our preferred pallets. The distillery has a main cocktail menu along with a seasonal menu with approximately 6-8 specialty drinks. My first choice2.5/5 Rover Club - consisting of gin, egg white, raspberry, and lemon. The initial taste was nice, however the sweet of the raspberry and the sour of the lemon almost seemed to neutralize the drink leaving me wanting a bit more flavor. My brother's first selection3.5/5 Golden Hands - consisting of whiskey, egg yolk, cinnamon, and lemon. I'm not a huge cinnamon fan like he is, however this had a nice consistency and could make a great drink for those looking for something outside of the box.My second choice4.5/5 Aurora Haze - consisting of Aurora gin, grapefruit, and lemon. Their "grapefruit martini". This cocktail was right up my alley! The drink was slightly Tarte with a sweeter finish and the presentation was beautiful! I am a sucker for purple gins. Would most definitely return for this cocktail. My brother's second selection4/5 French Toast - ingredients unknown. It was very creamy with a nice touch of cinnamon. It gave me the impression of drinking the leftover milk in your Cinnamon Toast Crunch bowl. This cocktail was my brother's favorite of the night.Overall this was a nice experience! Even though my first drink wasn't particularly my cup of tea, my last cocktail made me feel better about their selections! My brother also really enjoy his two cocktails. If you're looking for a new cocktail spot to try out, visit Obbink's!

Wow. This is a weird but excellent place that I would never have visited were it not for a Minnesota Microdistillery Passport (dude! check this thing out! go buy one!) and a road trip that happened to take me near enough to merit a detour. It is not, in a strict sense, local spirits, because the hooch itself is grain alcohol distilled in Wisconsin. It is, however, a heck of a gimmick. The basic idea is a rapid heat-pressure-secret-sauce method of rapidly extracting flavor compounds from wood, including wood that cannot be readily used to make barrels. Thus, you can now taste what whiskey would be like if made with yellow birch or sugar maple rather than good old American Oak, and they can run a distillery with a wide line of whiskeys without having to wait 10 years. If you've ever microbarreled white spirit, the flavor profile is similar. You get a lot of vanillin, but you do not get the deep complexity that only comes when something spends years producing slow secondary and tertiary reaction products. However, there are some pretty tasty things in here. The cocktail room itself is space themed bc the founder is a former national labs/NASA engineer. The bartenders are helpful if sometimes backed up, there's a lovely patio, and overall this is a great place to while away a few hours. Very kid friendly, there were many.I bought a bottle to take home and I'll hit this place again if I am ever coming this way.

I'm so excited that Obbink decided to open in St. Joe! What a great asset to the community. The owner is a former NASA engineer who became interested in whiskey and decided to open a distillery upon retirement. This space is truly an experience and, in addition to several other local businesses, makes St. Joe a great destination. We were excited to try all 3 whiskeys on tap (they were all great - Alexis was my favorite), and look forward to having options for ordering flights in the future. Despite being a big whiskey fan, I ordered a gin cocktail because it sounded so interesting, little did I know it came with edible glitter?! How fun! There are so many great cocktails on the menu, you'll have a tough time deciding, so trust the staff. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful and excited to talk about the process of creating so many of the cocktail ingredients, including liqueurs, right on site! If you haven't been yet, make it a point to visit before the end of summer so that you can enjoy the outdoor space. You won't be disappointed.

We went for the Michael Shynes gig on Wednesday night. Our first time at Obbink. Such a great night. We are not big beer or cider fans. The spirit drinks are amazing-- so fancy and delicious!! Bartenders are friendly and attentive. This place is great for a fun night out. Michael Shynes was the frosting on the cake. Wonderful music. All-in-all-- Great night out-- wonderful place. Definitely will be back multiple times!!
