Great service though they seemed a bit understaffed I would have ordered more. Thought they had dirty lines after my verbal tip but the modist and blackstack tasted clean. Need more blackstack hazies on the menu. Love the large variety but who wants a gumballhead in 2025.

As the self proclaimed pasta guy I consider myself a bit of an expert on the topic of twin cities pasta places. Most experts would point you towards some high end swanky Italian joints... Let me tell you - THIS place may have my favorite in their Cajun chicken and shrimp pasta. The flavor is so darn good and I love the ratio of noodles to chicken/shrimp AND the addition of the peppers and onions. Also - can you say holy garlic cheese bread? (I now consider any place that serves pasta without it to be suboptimal).I love the menu and even though I couldn't finish both dining alone, I had to get the jalapeño avocado wantons. They were equally amazing!

I was pleasantly surprised with my Northstar Tavern experience. Came here for dinner on a Sunday night at 6pm as a group of 4 with toddler. Seated immediately.Appetizers--crybaby Craig cauliflower: holysh*t this was good. Meal highlight -cheese curds: good not great. More batter than cheese. I got a couple cheese curds that were great but 1/3 of our cone was just little crumbles. Main courses:-PBLT: Very tasty but did fall apart while eating, I wished it was "true" pork belly as more of a plank or strip. This was like little bacon curls that fell out with every bite. CBC aioli was nice and avocado was great. Ordered with Caesar salad which was nice but a bit overdressed. Dressing on side next time.-smash burger: I was told this was delicious -walleye sandwich: no leftovers, my mother in law seemed very happy.Banana bread pudding: burned and a bit dry. Seemed like they cut a piece and put it under the broiler and left it too long. The burned sugar left a foul taste in our mouths. Actually sent it back which is a rarity. Server was gracious about it.

So my wife has a book club get-together once a month and the location moves around the metro. She mentioned they are meeting at NorthStar this month, and said "Wait, What did you say??". She confirmed NorthStar, and I said you must bring me home the meatloaf, and I will also require extra gravy. She didn't get home until later so I had it for breakfast and it was still amazing!I used to eat at the NorthStar about twice a month when I worked on Old Shakopee Rd, and quite frankly, I am surprised I never reviewed this place after all this time (my bad).If you are wondering where this is located, it is in the same strip mall as the Lunds/Byerlys store on Normandale. The restaurant has always been solid. Great service, fun staff, clean environment, and easy parking. Here are my favorite items here:1. Meatloaf. I have never gotten tired of eating. ask me why, but ask for extra gravy, you can thank me later. Also pro tip: dab a little of the gravy behind your ears and your significant other will become strangely more attractive to you!2 Zucchini Fries are amazing. I don't know how, but they never get soggy and over cooked.3. any of their hamburgers. It is really just a hamburger, but they are always well made, and plenty tasty. Patty Melt and North Smash always top the list for me.If you are in the area, hit this place up, and come hungry because they will serve you a lot of food.

I've visited for both brunch and dinner/happy hour. Always pleased with my visits. A relaxed, modern decor is the perfect backdrop for having a few brews from their sizable tap beer list. And some incredible burgers. The staff is always inviting and attentive.I wish the place was closer to home for me as I would be a regular for sure. Strongly recommend.

Today I wanted something different (I feel like I am personally keeping the gig economy going, lol) so I ordered Walleye Fingers and Goat Cheese Bruschetta from NorthStar Tavern. Their takeaway containers are cardboard, which is great for the environment but meant my food arrived cold. Eh, I ate it anyway ...Two things surprised me: The Walleye Fingers were tiny strips that *actually looked like* fish fingers if fish had fingers! and the Bruschetta was a DIY affair, with all the elements (goat cheese, julienned basil, balsamic reduction, and marinated tomatoes) in separate cups - the tomatoes being the largest. The crusty bread slices were a perfect vehicle and I had fun assembling them. Everything was very flavorful and the roasted jalapeño tartar sauce for the fingers was so, so good.

* Meats Pizza: Skip this one if you crave a structurally sound slice. The crust is flimsy and can't handle the overload of meats, making it quite salty due to the lack of tomato sauce.2.75/5 * Pork Nachos: A hearty and satisfying option, perfect for sharing.3.25/5

I really like this place. It feels like a semi-upscale burger joint. Food is excellent. We went for a school fundraiser and loved it so I went back a few weeks later. Very good food.

We came here for our friend's birthday dinner and it was so good! We shared the Korean bbq chicken wings as an appetizer. The buffalo chicken sandwich was good, especially with the blue cheese. We liked the bacon jam burger even more though! It was a fun night because they had trivia going as well. Our waiter was the friendliest guy ever. Will definitely be back!

Stopped in for a bite on the way out of town, the atmosphere was pretty chill on a Saturday evening, which was enjoyable! I called ahead and made a reservation, and arrived a little early just in case. Unfortunately, I was at the mercy of the table before me, which took a while to wrap up their dinner. That's fine, but that lasted an extra 30 minutes. The staff was apologetic, and they were great, but just keep in mind that your reservation times may vary!I had the Nashville Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, which was pretty good. They had some really fun drinks on the menu as well. I'd stop back in sometime to try it again for sure. They also have pull tabs.
