This is a classic old school small town café - 3.5 stars.Next Door Café is about what you'd expect. They're mostly average. But with a little effort and fine tuning, they could easily be 4 stars...they mostly need to cook the food properly and pay more attention to customers. If they threw in a few local ingredients and better seasoning, they might be able to charge slightly more and possibly elevate everything to 5 stars if they wanted to go that route. Everyone knows there's lots of awesome dairy, eggs, meat, and veggies in Wisconsin, right? The main focus, like most small town cafes, is breakfast. So that's what we ordered. They also have burgers, sandwiches, wraps, slices of pie, along with giant cinnamon & caramel rolls - yum! They have home-made local maple syrup and preserves too! I grabbed a bottle of maple syrup to take home. Both of our breakfasts were decent, nothing to rave about. Pretty much everything was really big though. And the prices are very reasonable. So you can get a bunch of food without breaking the bank.NEEDS IMPROVEMENT:1. My hash browns weren't cooked all the way through. So they had that weird, slightly crunchy mouth feel consistency inside that you get from raw potatoes. Yuck! Easy fix though.2. My friend's apple pie was under cooked and watery. So it pretty much melted and lost its shape when it was heated up. The crumbles on top were soggy. The apples were crunchy and weren't cooked all the way. It might have needed more emulsifier thickener too. I expect WAY better from a home-made, home-cooked cooked pie. Disappointing! Again, easy fix.3. Finally, the service kinda sucked. The girl serving us spent most of her time hanging out and talking to an older dude sitting at the back table. (They obviously knew each other.) We heard all about her mom's divorce, a dispute with a co-worker, etcetera, etcetera. I don't mind this sort of thing...but only if you take care of customers first. There was only one other table of customers. But it took her forever to take our first orders. And she never came around to offer us more coffee until she finally returned much later, after all of our food was gone. Customer service first, goof off second. Once again, an easy fix.All of the negatives could be a fluke. It might have been much better if we came on another day. But our first (and only) visit was mostly underwhelming.-Daddy Maxx Retro

Nice little local cafe on main street in New Richmond. It's nothing fancy, but with good food and service at a reasonable price it's worth checking out if you're in the area. We had the scrambled egg skillet, haystack skillet (a biscuit, covered in hashbrowns, eggs and gravy with your choice of meat), and French toast. The skillets were fine, but the French toast really stood out. The batter they use was very flavorful and the toast was grilled to perfection. We used a $30 for $15 Yelp deal so the meal, with a piece of bourbon pecan pie to go, was crazy cheap. But I'd go back for the French toast even without a deal.

If you need ambience and lots of wall decorations to entertain you while you eat...don't come here. If you Like really good food at very reasonable prices with friendly service then we'll worth the visit. The smoked pork chop specials are excellent!

Our go-to breakfast spot! The staff is efficient and friendly, even on a busy morning. You get seated quickly and your food arrives in a timely manner. My husband always gets a chocolate chip pancake, which is HUGE! And I'm always pleased with their simple egg breakfasts or Saturday special of biscuits and gravy. This is a cozy place to have an awesome breakfast.

One of my all time favorite place for a home made type of breakfast. Nothing fancy, but a delicious and fresh breakfast. The perfect place for family breakfast. The only down side to the place is that they don't offered WIFI and I found that very inconvenient. That's the only reason I will give them a 4 star. However, if not having internet it's ok with you, you are in the perfect place!
