Mr. Zero's

My husband and I are new to the area so we stopped by on a whim. I have been on a waitlist for a certain game with my hometown video game store for over 3 years. While Mr. Zeros didn't have it in stock the owner was able to track it down and order it. I try to buy local whenever possible but my curiosity got the best of me when I got home so I compared online prices. The game was $15 cheaper than Amazon or Ebay. I have read other reviews where people complain that the owner is rude. I didn't find him to be, he was very matter of fact and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain how I can properly clean my NES game cartridges. I had been doing it wrong for years. Who knew?

Mr Zero's should have that be it's Yelp score. We are traveling and are trying to find some good game stores so we thought we would give this store a shot. Once we entered the guy at the register rudely said is there anything we are looking and once we replied no we are just browsing he turned the volume up on the music to the point where we couldn't hear ourselves think and he was talking on the phone the entire time. Poor customer service. The place was a mess and it was hard to walk through it. It also smelled really bad to the point where we were getting a headache. I understand shop lifting should not happen but you don't need to post signs saying they will kill you if you shop lift. Will never go here again! I would NOT recommend this place to ANYONE. Stay away!!

6 reviewsa minute agoUnfortunately what I found was illegal. The cash register adds tax, he then says the total price. Which he then plugs into a calculator, then asks if you if a higher total is okay? I asked him why it was more and he said "tax." Realizing that the tax had already been added by the register I asked him to remove the surcharge. I had to walk him through the math. The receipt even gives the total with tax as "SUBTOTAL". Picture of receipt attached.And....Most of the albums are sealed with tape. He says it's because people switch around the records and steal them. Strange that no other place in the twin cities does this. Picked up an overpriced album that was sealed... silly me. Looks someone used to roller skate across it.to;dr watch for the calculator up charge trick, and honestly, you can get better deals elsewhere. I won't be returning, even though he is the nicest cheat I've ever met.

Rik really helped point me in the right direction for 45 records to replace in my old jukebox. Thanks much! We'll be back in soon!

If I could give this store 0 stars I would. The store was fine and Ik people are talking about over priced items. Which I don't mind paying a little extra for something I've been looking for and supporting a small niche shop. But omggg the guy behind the counter is so off putting it actually made me cringe leaving. When we walked in he did greet us and I let him know what I was looking for.. then I saw there was a bird. Cool a store pet. That's normally a conversation starter. I asked what it's name was... his response "it's on the sign". We browsed a little bit and I did find an album that I had been looking for. When I came up to the counter to pay he sat at his computer and typed for probably a good minute before acknowledging that I was there. And at that time I did see that he had a jar on the counter stating that if you wanted to talk to him you would have to put $ in the jar. Why own a retail shop. Especially one like that if you don't want to talk to people... I will never go back to this place and I do regret purchasing an album from his store. Do not go here. If you're looking for a store that sells the same type of things I recommend Level Up in loring park, Minneapolis.

Definitely agree with the cringe factor!! One of the worse experiences in a store of this nature..Rude! Super low ball offer! Really awful business practices..wouldn't recommend this store ! Gave guy benefit of the doubt and made another trip and the guy was worse the second time!

Just left Mr Zeros and I don't understand the low reviews that some people left. I went in the owner was busy but got to everybody quick, asked me if I wanted to see anything out of the case. He pulled out a game I was looking for that I haven't been able to find, I hit 3 other stores this morning and they were all duds. I would guess the flake he gets is from people trying to negotiate and get cheaper prices, I looked at several hard to find items that I collect and they all were priced right where I bought them several years ago. Really cool shop with a ton of variety from records, dvds, vhs, vintage toys and older video games. He has stuff you don't see everyday or just anywhere.

Excellent customer service. Huge variety of stock! I will definitely be back. The guy was extremely knowledgeable about what I was looking for!

Mr. Zero's has so much potential - it has everything you'd want at a vintage store, including records, VHS tapes, and video game cartridges. Too bad it also has the worst owner of any store in the Twin Cities!His prices are unreasonable, but trust me, it gets worse. He falsely accused a friend of shoplifting, and this paranoid behavior is apparent all over his store. There are post-it notes that say "you touch it, you buy it". One time, I tried complimenting his pet. His response? "It kills shoplifters."Another time, he asked if I lost my gloves at the store. I told him I didn't know, and asked what they looked like. His response? "I SAID, did you lose your gloves?"Go to Electric Fetus instead. Go to Cheapo Records. Or Time Bomb Vintage. Anywhere that will make you feel like a valued customer. As for this place, I hope it goes under.

Fantastic employees and a huge selection of vinyl, vintage and retro toys and video games and matching systems. I have been shopping here since 2014 and will continue to do so!
