This was my first experience staying at a b&b, and it was really great! The owners are extremely friendly and gave us really good restaurant recommendations! Both breakfasts we had were spectacular and filling! One morning was a fancy egg bake and the other morning we had cream cheese stuffed french toast! They also had fresh fruit and plenty of beverage choices. The room itself was decent. I think we had the smallest room in the house, so next time I think we'd stay in a bigger one. There was a huge jacuzzi, which was very relaxing after a day outside! The bathroom in our room was small and didn't have a shower. There is a shower on the main level that anyone can use if they don't want to take a bath. Our room didn't have a tv either, but there is still plenty to do! There's a game room with a TV on the upper level, and common rooms to sit and talk on the lower level too! Overall, this was a really nice place to stay!

We made the huge mistake of having our wedding photos taken in this place the day of our wedding. Everything was golden with the owner until they realized that our wedding party and relatives we wanted in the photos came with children--SHOCK. The owner made a big deal out of it because she didn't want their precious Ming vases and the like possibly smudged. This concern was never mentioned verbally or in any of the paperwork prior to us arriving. It was a huge drama we really didn't need. It made everyone very uncomfortable when she watched the kids like some kind of East German border guard. Never set foot in the place again.

The Moondance Inn is a wonderful B&B and we had a lovely stay here. Chris and Mike were wonderful hosts and offered a wealth of knowledge about the town of Red Wing and the surrounding area. They have tastefully decorated all of the rooms, not the lacey frilly stuff that we find tacky, but sophisticated and never overembellished. The breakfast was delicious and the coffee was the best that I had in the Midwest! We would definitely stay here when we visit Red Wing again.

Mike the own was an amazing host! The house was beautiful and had instantly become what will be a tradition to visit. We are vegan and vegetarian and he had no problem making us a breakfast that accommodated our eating style. In short, the house and owners provided the kind of experience that makes you wanna do whatever you can to help them succeed!

My partner and I have made it an anniversary tradition of leaving the city for the quiet, aged bed & breakfasts owned often by communicative socialites with a genuine care for the history of their establishment, and a respect for their clientele. Moondance follows standards of customer satisfaction more in line with a third-party airline, or perhaps a festering county DMV.When my partner came down with covid, we had to cancel our plans to stay. We made our cancellation with regrettably short notice, and were told that the only means of recouping any of the payment (demanded in full at the time of booking) would be granted as a voucher to a future stay, and only in the condition that the room is booked by another pair of guests for the weekend, but that a $25 cancellation fee would be charged regardless. "Thanks for not getting us sick, give us more money please, we know times are hard."My partner and I called during the days before and shortly after our intended stay to try and work something out, and haven't ever gotten through to someone on the line. We haven't received any responses to our voicemails. I had to check their website for information on whether or not the room was rebooked. The only time we spoke to anyone was when we made our cancellation.Booking a stay and cancelling is more expensive than simply staying. I should have known, and I would have known and read about the policies had I not been such a fool. After all, it is surely more work for the staff, more preparation for the hosts if we don't show up and dine and messy up the place. It's honestly a great business model, and one that I may have invented myself had I come from a family of tapeworms or mosquitoes. It's a pretentious and insulting assumption that, after hearing about this policy, we'd consider a voucher to be worth any more to us than the guarantee of never having to hear about Moondance again.

Stayed here last year while making a trip on the Empire Builder. It's a very cozy spot (the porch is amazing) with a very good breakfast. Red Wing was a nice town too. I enjoyed hiking Barn Bluff and Sorin's Bluff as well as visiting a nice book store and a good record shop. There was lots to do within walking distance.

I stayed here when the last owners had it. Only complaint was that the bed mattress needed to be replaced. Nice breakfast. We asked the new owners last year about booking the whole house for family at Christmas. Kristi said last year that her rates would stay the same as the website. I asked to book with her this week and her rates are now way higher than the website shows today. Before/Now on the website= $125-149. Now $205-$250 which is still not what is showing today on moondanceinn.com
