I was on a business trip in the area and wanted something different to eat. Well what does that mean "different?" Well it's something I can't find at home and something that I don't traditionally eat. So Mirror of Korea fit the bill. I made the trek from Eden Prairie to St. Paul for Mirror of Korea. I had some time to kill before my business meeting and me and the boss stopped here for lunch. The restaurant is located in what I'd say is an eclectic part of town right across the street from a college. We arrive to the restaurant and its like stepping back into the 80's and early 90's. The decor hasn't been updated in over a decade and you can take this one of two ways. Either the food is going to be phenomenal or down right terrible and I hope it's the first one because I recommended this place to my boss! We get sat and handed a menu and I went with the Kalbi Bento Box and my boss went with the spicy chicken bulgogi bento box. And then we waited. In no time the food arrived in cool bento boxes. I went first for the fried dumpling and that was pleasurable. The salad and dicon was delicious as well. But how was the Kalbi? Honestly for the price and what you all get, it was good. Not the best in the world and certainly not the worst in the world. It was just good. What you're getting when you sit down and eat at Mirror of Korea is just a good meal in itself. What else can one ask for? My boss said the spicy chicken bulgogi was outstanding and he was pleased with his meal. Mirror of Korea is a cool korean joint and I hope they don't change a thing. They provide good korean food at a reasonable price.

Food: goodService: goodAmbiance: I like the amount of seating and feeling of being in a family-owned restaurant. My friends and I ordered Combo meal with spicy cold noodles and galbiSeafood pancakeSpicy pork bulgogiI liked everything! The galbi was seasoned very well and juicy, and the cold noodles were very refreshing. The combo meal is so worth the price because of all the delicious food you're getting. The seafood pancake had a good amount of toppings, and was crispy and a little fluffy. And the spicy pork bulgogi was well seasoned and tender. It was a bit too salty for me though, so I ate it with more radish. I think I'd love it more if it had less salt.Overall, I'm really glad I tried the food here. It's affordable and authentic! I 100% am coming back to try the lunch specials, the soup, the bibimbap, and the galbi tang.

Small, corner restaurant with street parking. Service was attentive even though they were a bit stretched. Tried a few different lunch items, all of it was cooked fairly well and had a reasonable flavor. The short rib lunch combo included a lot of small little accompaniments, but everything sort of just landed a bit flat. Nothing quite "great" but definitely not too bad either. If you're looking for something a bit off the beaten path, love kimchi, and are seeking some Asian cuisine, this will likely meet those expectations even if it doesn't wow you!

Small and narrow corner spot. There's some parking on the street. It's a quiet and assuming place. Very laid back and quiet inside, which isn't a bad thing. We ordered the #47 Dakbokeum (spicy stir fried chicken), kimchi jeon, less pork and Kimbap meal (comes with two rolls) less beef and #48 tteokbokeum and two hot teas too. $63.43 The tea is barley tea, not a strong flavor. It's okay. The waiter is bussing the tables, taking orders, bringing out the food and cashing out folks too. He's busy. Service was good. The kimchi pancake wasn't too bad. The rice cake and spicy chicken and the Kimbap were all just okay, not impressed or special for either us and not exactly what we were hoping for either. The food was just so-so. Not worth return for any part of the meal though. The banchans were small and tasted okay. The corn tea gets a bit more flavorful at the bottom of the pot.

Very solid and reasonably priced Korean food. The chilled noodles and Korean pancake appetizer were particularly inspired. The waitstaff were attentive and filled our water glasses multiple times, which was greatly appreciated!

Incredible food and service. We have eaten here regularly and highly recommend their Kim Bop, kimchi rice, Golgabi (mackerel with red pepper sauce), Japchae and Haemul-pajeon (seafood pancake). Honestly, anything here won't go wrong. Their variety of soups such as Sundubu Jigae (spicy tofu soup) or soup with green onions and oxtail if you are not into spicy food. Service is prompt and courteous and they know us so well that they adapt our specifications without asking and always bring us hot tea (green and ginseng are great.)

Food was really good! Had the stir fry kimchi with pork the portion was reasonably sized and well seasoned! Prices were also very reasonable. Service was excellent, water was always filled and the food came out hot from the kitchen.

Mirror of Korea is serving up authentic Korean food. I love their kimchi soup because it always comes out hot and is packed full of tofu, meat and kimchi. My kids love the lunch bento box and it's a great deal. The dol sot bep bim bop (hot stone) aways comes out perfect with a layer of the crispy rice. The servers are friendly. The atmosphere is simple and cozy. It's a great spot to meet for lunch or have a hearty dinner. They have lots of vegetarian options and a variety of meat and seafood options. It's a great option for families and they are set up to take big groups.
