I've walked past this bookshop so many times, and when I needed to buy a hardcover book recently, instead of heading to Amazon I decided to order it through their online shop and pick up in person. WOW, I was not prepared for how massive this place is! From the outside it looks so quaint and small. NO, this shop goes on for what feels like miles, with shelves upon shelves of books inside. What a place to get lost for an afternoon! It was my first time in and the front cashier helped direct me to where I'd pick up my online order. The online order team was very helpful. I stopped to peruse and look around a bit, but know I'll have to come back for a full day of exploring. My online order was reasonably priced and great to have instore pickup to skip the shipping costs. I'll be back!

This auto-shop-turned-bookstore is a reader's used book Mecca! There was so much to find at Magers & Quinn! There were so many options for every reader. Between friendly staff and good organization with visible labeling, this is a wonderful bookshop to visit. Most of the books (maybe all?) are used and in good to excellent condition from what I could tell. I enjoyed how much stock was available at reasonable prices. Magers & Quinn is one of our "Must Return To" finds from the 2024 Twin Cities Indie Bookstores Passport!

A wonderful bookstore in the heart of uptown. This place is a community staple and a great place to get lost in for hours. It is HUGE and the selection is extremely varied. You can find books on any topics you'd like. The pricing is fair, and they even buy back books if that's something you're interested in. The staff is attentive if you need anything or recommendations.

I highly recommend this shop for any book lover. The workers are always friendly and willing to help (two of them even helped me find a merch shirt in my size). Prices for the books are average, but their stock is what makes this bookstore so fantastic. There are sections for every topic you can think of, I love the cookbook and fiction sections, particularly. If you want more than books, there's also puzzles, notebooks, t-shirts, bookmarks, etc. Parking: pay on-street parking. I recommend parking on 31st St, right off of Hennepin. Accessibility: wheel-chair accessible mostly (no step to get in, but no automatic door button). Bathrooms aren't wheelchair friendly (doors too narrow). Bathrooms: a bit stretchy, but the toilets and sinks are clean.

This is my favorite bookstore. Period. The staff are helpful, they offer new and used versions of many books, and have shipping available online for what they don't have in store.

Magers and Quinn is one of the best bookstores I have ever been to. For a year, I lived right next to this place and while I am not much of a reader, my partner is, and she would drag me here all the time.Unlike many other bookstores I have been to though, this place has a large selection of cookbooks and a very massive selection of bargain books. They have a whole wall in the back of the store where the books cost as low as $1 or $2. In this section, I have found old America's Test Kitchen Cookbooks, Julia Child cookbooks and so many more gems. Now, I don't read much (read as at all), but I have managed to find a few books here that were really good and used such as Bourdain's first book for $2. They also have a huge selection of brand new books, newer used books for a pretty good price, and games, cards, etc. The space is lovely and the hours being 10 am - 10 pm everyday is awesome for some late night visits. The staff are always super friendly, and I feel like a real winner when I am checking out and they say the book I'm buying is a good one.Highly recommend everyone check this place out.

My favorite bookstore in the cities! I love to go for a walk around bde and then make a stop here to pick up a book. My favorite part of the store is the used book/$2 shelf in the back of the store, it always has a fun selection of books to sort through.

I was taken aback at first by the good vibe there as my son said he really liked going to this bookstore. He didn't want me to complain about the $3 they handed him for 10+books they bought from my used book collection. Only it was scandalous the great number of books he sold them for a measly $6. He is on the spectrum with Asperger's and works hard to buy books so it was a great disappointment for us to drive where he had taken a bus ride twice before. My son came home and laid in bed 2 hours due to the roller coaster of emotions experienced from selling his books for such a shocking amount. I wanted to go and get our books back instead wrote to them and not heard back. I wouldn't do business there if they do not tell you beforehand they literally pay pennies on the dollar to anyone who sells books to them.
