My wife and I were looking for a date night place to eat on a recent Friday night and came across the Lyndale Smokehouse. We had a coupon to use and the menu online looked good so we decided to give them a shot. Honestly, hotel restaurants can be hit or miss. Some of our favorite restaurants in the Twin Cities are found in hotels so we decided to take the gamble. The interior is very modern and tucked into a small corner of the lobby. The restaurant has a full bar at the front with the seating for eating behind it. We waited for a little bit to sit down and noticed there was only one guy rushing around the tables. We finally just grabbed some menus and sat down. We soon realized that this poor guy was the only one taking care of the whole place including bar tending, cleaning tables, taking orders, and working back of house. Props to this guy, there was easily six tables and another eight people at the bar and he was juggling ALL of it. So once again, no bad mojo to this guy, he was busting his tail and deserves some crazy praise for doing the best he could. With that being said though it left a lot of things not really getting done. No refills on water, I had to ask to borrow ketchup from another table, etc. There was a taller guy who kept walking over from the hotel reception desk and we thought he would help the poor guy but never lifted a finger. It seemed like he was just checking up on the guy, seriously dude grab a pitcher of water and bust some tables for this poor waiter!Anyways, when it came time to order we were told that the menu listed online is not up-to-date and that the menu had been revamped. That basically meant we had the option of two sandwiches (burger or Reuben) a few appetizers, a few rotating entrees depending on which day it was, and a couple of soups. OK, bummer. I decided to go with the Reuben with a side of sweet potato fries and my wife ordered the Spinach Dip and a side of Chili. OK, now we were committed, we had no clue what to expect for food quality. And surprisingly it wasn't bad. My Rueben, albeit not the best I have ever had, was decent and the sweet potato fries were tasty and came as a large side order. My wife's Spinach Dip was great and was served warm (I think it was supposed to be cold which I actually do not like, so win here) with baguette bread. My wife said she really enjoyed her Chili as well. So food was actually pretty good. So if you don't mind the limited menu and are OK with service taking a little longer (we were on a date night so we were in no rush) this place isn't half bad. Seriously though Lyndale, hire someone else to help out you staff. No one person should have to juggle all of that!

Great service and good food. We are staying at the hotel (Four Points) that is connected to this restaurant. So far (day 1) we've eaten breakfast and dinner here. Both were really good. The Four Points Breakfast was satisfying. But the Wednesday BBQ and Brews was incredible. The ribs = awesome. The kids loved the pulled pork, cole slaw, and chicken nuggets.

Stopped in for drinks and a bite after a long day and before, what we hope will be, a fabulous night of rest! Ordered the smokehouse bloody mary - out of mix, bummer, but these things happen. On to the Hendricks martini, no cucumbers : / but it was strong and the server made sure the glass was chilled while she mixed... I was happy- sweet potato poutine was good, came out quickly and hot, but. no scallions - and 2 beers on tap that were very satisfying. 3 stars is for missing components, with understanding that this gal is slammed. I'm getting dizzy watching her run tables and the bar. I am impressed and service is still very on point... rest easy mi'lady, you only have 15min left! You've got this!!

Tried both breakfast and dinner here while staying in the hotel. Breakfast is priced very reasonably ($8 or so for a basic eggs or omelet plate) but the buffet, at $10 for Starwood Preferred Guests members, is a bargain. Tasty, not-too-oily sausage and nicely crisped bacon for the meats, breakfast quesadilla, omelet made to order, waffles, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, and more. Try a little of everything and get seconds of the best stuff. Well worth the price.Had fish and chips for dinner. The fish came as a single battered and deep-fried filet. It was a little overbrowned (not always a bad thing in my book) and the fish was still moist inside (the main thing). There was a nice contrast between the moist, tender fish inside and the very crisped crust.Service is only ok. The restaurant isn't terribly big but is still too big for one poor server to cover all by him/herself. So don't be in too much of a hurry for the check or drink refills.

Terrible, the only good thing was how honest our server was... apparently the menu changed not too long ago and they went from home-made to out of a box or a can. They only have 6 entrees on their menu, out of which 2 were unavailable the night we visited, as well as three other appetizers. You're better off eating somewhere else.

The server left to eat her supper after I ordered so I had to wait for her to return to get a glass of wine. They Compt it , yes! Just a caution after happy hour is over make sure you keep it simple.

Very good breakfast buffet. $11 but if you join the hotels SPG free member program at the front desk the buffet immediately drops to $8.25. It took about 3 minutes to sign up. The buffet included great bacon, sausage links, kinda dry Belgium waffles, oatmeal, fresh fruit, bakery blueberry and chocolate chip muffins. Juices, good coffee, good omelette bar, and very good breakfast quesadillas, cereal etc. Service was friendly, but spotty. Complementary USA today, star tribune, and wall st journal if you ask at the front desk.Great place to stop on the way to the airport.

This place was never fantastic but seems to have gotten worse with time. Frozen pizzas, bland breakfast buffer. Unless you are staying in the hotel it's definitely not worth the trip; and for that matter I'd venture out even if staying there.

I was disappointed to find out this is located in a hotel. Personally it shouldn't be on yelp as I can't imagine people around town driving to eat here - leave it for the hotel guests. I was in town for business and searched yelp for some nice mom and pop breakfast locations to eat at before the 11am flight. Chose this, ironically left my hotel across town and ended up here at another hotel (ugh). Showed up and it's a decent hotel and crappy staff running the restaurant. I wanted to leave but couldn't because of timing so I settled for an omelette that was not very good. Came served with undercooked potatoes on the side. Please go somewhere else if your considering this location.
